Jiblix and Ken Genosis Demodded Over Speaking Out

Featured Replies

I know 12 players who botted 10 were banned and 2 were rollbacks. That was easy wasnt it? I can just make up any numbers I want to support the point. Wheres your hard facts or reliable evidence, without the my friends did..........................? Interesting too its always players friends and never themselves.

All my statements can be confirmed if you lurk in websites that cannot be mentioned here.

Im assuming that youre totally against the idea of botting

Your assumption is wrong. I don't give a rat's ass if half of the population bots; It only makes things easier for me, since I have buyables to max.

Now, what I think of botting and what I expect Jagex to do are two different things. Jagex promised a solution, so I've been lead to believe they are working on one, and if I am giving them my money I like to know what they do with it.

I'm also not petty enough to sell my real friends out on a videogame because of things that don't matter to me personally.

This was also a nice deflection from the original argument for which you also fail to provide evidence to back up.

You're fine with botting, but are annoyed at Jagex saying something, but not doing it. Is that right? I'm not criticizing just curious. :-|

I'm like a hot mess, but without the alcohol.

Suggesting that anyone takes a sample size of 12 seriously.

If you look back at my points on this post you'll see that my arguments centre around the problem being a player issue as well as a Jagex issue. Much of the problem lies with the RS community itself and you're a fine example of what's wrong. Thanks .

Yes, especially if they spend membership money on said promise, when it wields no fruits. Honestly, I'd much rather they fire the whole anti botting department and increase game update frequency/quality in 10%, but that won't happen.

Well, you can say whatever you feel like, but if your arguments are a huge pile of bull, nobody is going to take you seriously. Especially with your tendency to deflect and evade arguments.

I wouldn't exactly class proving that there are some real issues with the community regarding the botting situation as deflecting and evading nor bull. This thread's done a good job at bringing the point of the lack of community action against the issue's and you've formed a part of what's gone badly wrong somewhere whether you like it or not. It's not big or clever to protect those who cheat.

Now, you can do this in two ways. Man up and get some nuts, accept it, start to care about the game you play in eliminating the cheaters and stop waffling about deflected/evaded arguments when you provided all I needed. Or continue to take the stroppy little boy line, protect the cheaters and generally devalue the skills and things you may hold dear in the game.

Or continue to take the stroppy little boy line, protect the cheaters and generally devalue the skills and things you may hold dear in the game.

But I don't value skills or hold things dear... The game is a way to provide me with fun times, there's no underlying value or achievement besides that, and bots can't really remove the fun I have in the game since the content is still there for me to enjoy.

And no, my values as a player don't affect the game at all, that's the point.

I can't prevent people from botting in any way, only Jagex can do that. That's the point you keep evading, and no amount of deflection and blaming other can change that.

Many of us feel that the botters make the content less enjoyable. Some people play for ranks, and would rather not see people who didn't legitimately play. Many people play for the minigame content, and therefor do not like it when the minigames are overrun with non-real people. Many people play for the game for the community and a chance to talk to other peoples, and are annoyed because the characters they meet are not real players.

None of this may apply to you, however, that doesn't mean it doesn't apply to other players.

Personally, I don't mind people who bot stupid content (*cough* livid farm *cough*) because it was designed to be high reward - low enjoyability. But I don't like the spambots or when training areas become overcrowded with (non)players who make things like frost dragons unusable due to having more cannons than dragons.

I would prefer that all botting be stopped, but I understand that it is not really feasible. The issue is that I could write a bot which literally runs the original client, and simply controls the OS's mouse and keyboard. The only way to detect it would be player behavior.

Of course I was speaking for myself, as he was arrogant enough to make assumptions about somebody he knows nothing about.

crossed_body.png

I personally think it's a pointless argument. If you have buyables to max, and can't afford all of them then bots are your "friends" in a sort. However, I am against botting 100% and my own neighbor has botted two 99s'. I refuse to do it. I'm already wasting time out of my life on the game..why do it and have it all taken away..

Turnpikes.png

Of course I was speaking for myself, as he was arrogant enough to make assumptions about somebody he knows nothing about.

Lets see who you are:

I have friends who bot. They are carefull, and many of them have stats over 90 100% botted, none of them was rolled back.

I've watched the cheating community for years. They hold contests for those who can bot the longest without consequences, and most of them suffer nothing from DAYS of botting in a row. Some have very impressive records.

Not to mention:

My "guesswork" isn't entirely "guesswork", since I know how both bots and botters work

Interestingly:

I don't give a rat's ass if half of the population bots; It only makes things easier for me, since I have buyables to max

Plus:

I'm also not petty enough to sell my real friends out on a videogame because of things that don't matter to me personally.

Then:

Jagex promised a solution, so I've been lead to believe they are working on one, and if I am giving them my money I like to know what they do with it.

And leave the best till last:

I can't prevent people from botting in any way

I am not going to quote anybody directly as there are so many points that can be challenged and it would make this post too tedious, but certain individuals should take note as I am probably talking about you :shame:

Firstly on the whole issue of botting, everyone has a responsibility to report inappropriate or illegal game play. Runescape is a community based game and is reliant on the players working to that end, even if they are solo players overall. How anyone can say they have 'friends who bot' and its not their problem is beyond me. There appears to be an acceptance that botting is here and no one can be bothered to do anything about it. Final responsibility lays with Jagex, I won't argue that, but they also need clear stats to establish how big the problem is. Please don't say 'they know and won't do anything about it'; Jagex are not omniscient and without the full picture being presented to them, they cannot know how offended some players are or how many bots there really are.

I am not suggesting that every player and/or pmod goes looking for them and reports the 1000 bots in his or her area, come on....use some common sense. Report what you can and when you can, simple <_<

But that's exactly what Jiblix did and he got punished for it, so Jagex obviously knows the state of the game, and him getting punished just goes to show how much they care about it.

And JrHairyChest, that's just getting ridiculous. Quoting me isn't making a point in your favour, since it does not prove, disprove, or otherwise quantify Jagex's participation in bot punishment.

And yeah, defining a person through half a dozen lines sure is smart and not arrogant at all. At the very most, you got my view on botting and botters, everything else is vague assumptions (especially since from all of your quotes, none of them reflect the issue of how I value my gameplay experience, which was the one at hand).

Once again, you're deviating from the point and focusing on personal "attacks" instead of actually providing solid arguments and sources to back your claims (I'm still waiting to see you prove that the infractors you reported did get punished).

So, until you've actually got something to say that isn't just assumptions and insinuations, this conversation is over.

crossed_body.png

I know of a few accounts that are 2400+ and entirely botted, as well as a completely maxed account who bots regularly

it's pretty impressive/sad they dont get caught

That's what he did, and then some. Or has your attention been elsewhere throughout this whole thread? Not demodded for not reporting, that's twisting everything around and making it seem like he's innocent. Good job.

It doesn't look like Jiblix was 'demodded' for his reporting, it would appear it was for his comments that were 'anti-Jagex' probably not the best thing to do if you wanted to remain a pmod, in fact I wouldn't have been surprised if they had kicked him from the game for his comments. Not taking anything away from the video itself, which was a real eye opener. However if mod status didn't worry him then he can say what he likes. It still does not support your arguments, RS is a community and condoning botting exacerbates the situation. If I had friends who played a game by cheating or playing against the rules, I would speak to them or at least question the type of company I was keeping.....unless of course I was doing the same..... :shame:

You have to read my post in context to the post I'm replying to. I'm not even talking about reports.

The person above me said that Jagex isn't omniscient and had to be made aware of the situation at hand. And that's part of what Jiblix's videos show. No amount of reporting can give them clear stats, because innocent people get mistakenly reported at times, so that's not even close to what this is about.

All Jagex needs to do to gain awareness of the problem is login once in a while in populated areas.

crossed_body.png

Been months since I logged in, since this thread is interesting I thought I'll share my view.

I think someone came up with a solution to this issue years ago.

Just make botting 'legitimate'.

To a player, grinding may mean 'a sense of accomplishment', or something 'I like to do', but to a gaming company, grinding merely means extending the length of time a player spends on its game, and hence getting more profit out of it. Back then when that certain individual brought up the idea (can't remember who), I couldn't quite understand the rationale. Yet looking at other games now, such as those on social media platforms, I feel that it actually works and it's a win-win situation; less unhealthy gaming for gamers, same (or more) profit for gaming company.

The fact is, Jagex can't handle the influx of bots, it's been made clear ever since free trade was allowed. Why not introduce some sort of AFK system? Leave your character there overnight, after which you gain levels and resources. Or even NPC assistants to do the job for you while your character is free to participate in other more entertaining activities. Instead of promising something they can't accomplish and getting blamed for it, I thought this was the more viable option.

If you don't think they do login, and if you don't think they're aware of the situation...You're only beginning to understand.

They're not operating a game completely clueless as to what's going on on it. They're in the game just as much as other people. The video doesn't show them anything they didn't already know.

The police could say the same...i.e. don't bother reporting a crime, because you might get it wrong and it will make it impossible to get our stats, yet they manage because they have to. The same with Jagex, it's their job to sort out what is a mistake and what is genuine, but at least they will have more to work with.

Jiblix's video could have been a really useful tool used properly, sadly he used it as a platform for a personal attack at Jagex and as soon as he did that, they probably stopped listening.

35cq0q9.png

And JrHairyChest, that's just getting ridiculous. Quoting me isn't making a point in your favour, since it does not prove, disprove, or otherwise quantify Jagex's participation in bot punishment.

Actually you're wrong. It proves that Jagex doesn't punish the botters that you know personally as you don't report them.

And yeah, defining a person through half a dozen lines sure is smart and not arrogant at all. At the very most, you got my view on botting and botters, everything else is vague assumptions (especially since from all of your quotes, none of them reflect the issue of how I value my gameplay experience, which was the one at hand).

If I wanted to personally attack you you'd know about it so grow some balls and grow up. My quotes show that you're willing to push everything onto Jagex while supporting the use of bots yourself, then claim 'I cant do anything about it' (That part was quite lol).

You want proof that my reports worked? Ask Jagex as they won't tell me. I can't prove that the same as you can't prove yours. 'my mates bot and they never get caught' and 'I know all about botting' is about all you've offered. So realistically I can provide as much hard evidence as you can - zero.

Another interesting point:

No amount of reporting can give them clear stats, because innocent people get mistakenly reported at times, so that's not even close to what this is about.

They can't gather stats if reports don't come in and they don't just punish innocent accounts. Jagex decide who is innocent or guilty of botting by monitoring the account. Considering how much of an 'expert' you are on the subject you should already know this.

If I had friends who played a game by cheating or playing against the rules, I would speak to them or at least question the type of company I was keeping.....unless of course I was doing the same..... :shame:

Interesting point, Erewhon. Care to elaborate on this, Crossed?

I've already told you how you can check if bots are banned. You can, with 100% confidence, tell if somebody has been banned or not.

I, on the other hand, cannot present you the sources of my claims due to the rule-breaking that I'd have to do in order to cite them here. It is not a matter of not having the evidence, it's a matter of not being able to present it.

For instance, this is an excerpt of a thread where people congratulate each other for their botting "achievements". This is 1 account, 1 botter in a relatively small botting comunity.

99 Agility

99 Mining

99 Runecrafting

99 Construction

99 Magic

99 Herblore

96 Hunter

90 Smithing

90 Crafting

Needless to say, those stats were all botted and obviously the infractor is not banned. Of course, without citing my source, this seems like a bunch of bull.

Interesting point, Erewhon. Care to elaborate on this, Crossed?

Sure, I'll gladly elaborate. I don't judge my real life friends for things they do in a virtual environment that causes no active harm to other beings or themselves, and I question the moral code of anyone who would condemn another person for actions that do not harm others.

They are doing nothing wrong, legaly speaking, and I'm not about to condemn my friends over a game.

I'd guess that if it made good PR, they'd release the info. They aren't doing it, so I wonder why.

I'm giggling here because you're concerned about rulebreaking on the forums. Yes I agree without a source it may seem like bull but feel free to pm me the source.

I think everyone is aware of where you stand with your friends but I don't think that's what she meant. I think it was meant as ‘your friends bot, you support botting, so do you bot?’
