Jiblix and Ken Genosis Demodded Over Speaking Out

As I've said, ll0rt already did that. You keep not reading things and arguing just for the sake of arguing.

I will not answer questions that are not relevant to the argument at hand, as that will only serve to sidetrack the discussion.

Crossed, are you going to stop acting like a silly little boy? You're not impressing anybody by the way you carry on. If you want to keep acting that way posters are going to treat you that way. You may think it makes you look hard and cool or whatever but all I'm getting is some stroppy teenager who's got a whopping chip on his shoulder.

My question had nothing to do with strawman, it was a direct question. You support botting (confirmed by you), your friends bot (confirmed you) and I asked you if you bot. You wouldn't confirm nor deny. I made my own mind up about it after your 3rd round of avoiding it and anyone else reading it will too. Personally, I'd rather be known as using strawmen than doing what you do. Enjoy what's left of this thread

So, you admit to using strawman fallacies? That's cool. By the way, you used another one when you said "You support botting (confirmed by you).

Here, I'll provide you with an example of a classic strawman fallacy:

Prof. Jones: "The university just cut our yearly budget by $10,000."

Prof. Smith: "What are we going to do?"

Prof. Brown: "I think we should eliminate one of the teaching assistant positions. That would take care of it."

Prof. Jones: "We could reduce our scheduled raises instead."

Prof. Brown: " I can't understand why you want to bleed us dry like that, Jones."

The similarities are uncanny. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were doing it on purpouse just to troll me.

And I guess I can add ad hominem to that list. Calling me a little boy or a stroppy teenager does not strenghten your argument or make you look quirky.

I'm not avoiding the question. I'm not answering it because there is only one possible answer anybody can give in this forum, and the only reason you're asking it is for the reasons Kimberly stated.

Also, calling or insinuating I am a bot (which is laughable in itself), does not strenghten your argument nor does it relate to this discussion at hand.

I guess deflecting the issue, making snarky insinuations and using fallacies as a method of argument make you the superior man. You have won this discussion, I quit.

Moral codes are irrelevant when it comes to a game that has rules, or anywhere that has rules. You abide by them, and are given the tools to ensure others do, too. You don't just jump to the conclusion "Oh, maybe cheating's part of who he is. I can't question that!". You can, are provided with the resources to help tackle it, all with the anonymity of them not knowing it was you.

Moral codes will define whether or not you cheat. You won't because you think it's immoral, others will, because they don't think it's immoral. I also never said I won't attempt to tackle it because of this. The reason I wouldn't if I were not to, is because of disenchantment in the process - which is a seemingly prevalent issue, as displayed by this Jiblix video. Why go to the effort when Jagex won't?

The fact that myself and - many - others are out putting up cannons to catch FM bots, quoting messages regarding death and antifires running out attempt to break bots, and then report them, only to find the bots there days and weeks later gives people little motivation to keep going. Some will, and power to them, but others won't. We are provided with ways to help, but where is the support on the back end?

Why is it not for you to call out and scream that someone is an evil doer? Although possibly that might be a little excessive

You want them to get caught and be punished, but you don't question their moral code? You can't have it both ways, its either right or wrong...this is not a 'grey' area. So if someone else's moral code is to steal (after all thats what botting is) you think thats bad but its also fine by you?

I didn't say it's fine, I said it's not my place to question their opinion that it's fine. No where have I said it's RIGHT. I said it's WRONG for me to question them for thinking it's RIGHT. As a footnote, the moral code conversation arose referencing the reasons behind choosing to bot, not whether or not botting is bad. I am able to sit and claim botting is bad, and that they should be punished without questioning the morals that have led to the decision to bot.

What about if their moral code is to drink while driving? Or taking the cash out of the till from your local store, or attack the elderly for their money is this ok too? Of course you can question it! complacency is an 'opt out' for those that do not wish to confront or take any responsibility for making waves.

Sadly, those actions are not simply a question of morality, but also ethics and legality.

Gotta love how they put a reminder on the homepage. How ironic would that look if someone not being able to do anything at f2p because of bots saw that at the same time he/she was playing... They are delusional if they think they will win this year (or even thinking that they won legitimately last 2 years), the only reason they won last 2 years it's because they literally begged for votes several times while other games simply announced they were nomitated.

When was the last time you heard someone talking about how good f2p runescape is OUTSIDE of runescape communites/the game itself? Dunno about you but thinking outside that box I've heard MUCH MORE about league of legends compared to runescape (nothing), so league of legends got my vote. This is the criteria they should talk about when telling people to vote, not just beg for votes like if they automatically deserve it from anyone who plays their game thinking they only play runescape exclusively, that's egocentric and even insultive at some degree.

I don't know about the other nominees but Jagex is pathetic. They ask for you to vote for Runescape BECAUSE you play Runescape, not because Runescape is really the best F2P game. And the state Runescape is in (bots and auto typer bots), they are rude enough to ask? And now they are asking ONCE MORE.

People saying yes to Runescape for best F2P Game.

Also voted for RuneScape, the game receives constant updates and have been a firm F2P favourite for years.

Runescape hands down! Jagex have made a masterpiece, played this game before paid MMO's and just went to the website the other day and my jaw dropped, 3d software, Cinematic s Amazing!

Runescape will always have my vote. It is by far the best free mmorpg I've ever played. I never get bored and I can never wait to get online to play.

Vote for Runescape, best MMO I've ever f**king played.

People vote for Runescape because they are either member, low level in F2P or just are addicted to Runescape. It's wrong to be member and vote "Yes, Runescape is best F2P game!" when your playing P2P. It's also ironic. I'd say only players who have been in F2P Runescape for 3 months and are not members can decide whether Runescape is best F2P game or not.

I don't remember at any stage anyone talking about RuneScape outside of RuneScape. It's kept on the DL. People may play it, but they won't talk about it. So you have to consider that. I play, but I don't tell any of my friends I play online games other than stuff on the Ps3.

I do love the careless voting comment, in that it makes absolutely no sense.

Not winning legitimately? I don't see how requesting votes takes away from the legitimacy of the system. Other games don't chase the votes, that's their decision. Lagex do, so what? YOU don't want to vote for them - DON'T. Not hard. Others did - lots. And they won. On the votes.

The only game I've ever heard mentioned was WOW and that is because my cousin plays it. Being in uni and playing games is something that people in my crowd keep under wraps, because of the polarised opinions on gamers and gaming. I'm not going to be out promoting something like RS, and others aren't out promoting the games they play, we only find out this stuff incidently (rocking up at their place while they are playing).

They want you to vote for Runescape and publish it on the Runescape website. Shocking! That marketing is evil! Admittedly, whilst I am an anti-Jagex fanboy, I just don't see them putting an advert on the homepage saying "vote for League of Legends" as hilarious as it'd be.

The award is for the best f2p game, sure it's not against the rules, but it's rather not very well seen. Just because they made their players vote for them by begging, doesn't mean the game reflects the award they just won, that's what I mean with being legit, be my guest to use any method you want, that award will not be legit if it doesn't reflect what you just won. As much as you can be allowed to gather votes however you want, if it doesn't reflects something you are supposed to represent ("best" f2p game), that will only lead to negative criticism against that company, which is exactly why so many people that doesn't play runescape dislike jagex. That only works to prove they simply want the award, regardless if it actually means something for their own image as a company.

Actually, what I meant was runescape being mentioned on other mmo communities. I've been playing mmos for at least a good 10 years, and I don't remember a single time f2p runescape was ever brought to discussion. I've seen people talking about silkroad (which made me play it until it was infested by bots and the cap was increased pass 80), requiem (good until the company became money hungry and only idiots were left in the community), league of legends (which I actually liked, just don't have enough time to play it), and I can go on with many more examples, all f2p, but never f2p runescape.

This isn't about what is the best F2P game, it's about what is the most POPULAR when it comes down to the votes. It's simply a popularity contest, and you need to gather the army of voters however you can. People won't vote unless they are believe it and are passionate enough to do so (either for or against). At the end of the day, you can advertise it all you want it doesn't mean that you're going to get the votes.

It seems that the majority of anti-Jagex'ers have a problem with THE BUSINESS. We want more from them, we want better treatment, more content, less bots etc etc ad infinitum but at the end of the day, first and foremost the concerns of the business are keeping the shareholders hapopy, and putting more money in their pockets. THAT is the most apparent issue from my experience as to why people are hate jagex.

That only works to prove they simply want the award, regardless if it actually means something for their own image as a company

Doesn't matter who this award goes to, it's going to have some benefit to the game and the company. The only difference it seems between RS and the rest is that Jagex are more overt about the potential for benefit than the others. Transparency :o

No where did I mention that it waas inappropriate to critisise Jagex, so your comment is either a giant pisstake or hilariously misguided.

The assumption that it is egocentric to believe RS is the only game we play because they want us to vote for them is just silly. I'm still yet to find a company when in a - positive - competition would ask you to vote for someone else. It's not how marketing works.

There must be a reason for a game to be popular, if the game is not fitting of that reason, why is it popular to start with then? RuneScape is not popular compared to other online games, again, basing that on how often people hear/read about runescape inside the gaming community compared to games like LoL.

I've never heard WoW or LoL mentioned in games until this thread. Thus Runescape is clearl ymost popular and gets my vote.

Cool, that's your case tho, but then again, how many mmos have you played or how much are you into the gaming community outside of runescape? In my case, as I said before, I never heard of it outside of runescape community. It sure is popular within its own fanbase, but that fanbase is nothing compared to games being mentioned on several other gaming communities, including runescape one. And that's why LoL got my vote.

Evidently you missed the point. MY EXPERIENCE differs from YOUR EXPERIENCE. There was nothing else to it. So using that as some sort empirical proof that RS is not popular is rediculous. (And if you had actually read my previous post you'd have seen direct reference to knowing my cousin plays WoW).

To simply put popularity down to the amount it is spoken about is taking out chunks of what makes it popular in the first place - people play it. RS may not be AS popular when discussed in games, but the fact it has won the GJA the last 2 years suggests that it is quite popular. Not everyone is around playing multiple MMOs and discussing them all in game.

Actually, what I meant wasn't just my experience, it's what I've noticed from the mouth of others when it comes to popularity. Someone who is limited exclusively to playing rs will never know about its actual popularity. Other gaming communites are way bigger than runescape one, and to never hear about runescape over completely different scenarios, but yet hear about other games clearly says a lot about its "popularity".

Put it this way, if all the games started advertising the award as much as runescape does, runescape wouldn't have been even remotely close to win it. In few words, runescape wins that award becuase jagex begs for votes, others don't as they either don't really care or don't consider it something to relly on to get customers (the fact they are often mentioned between more popular games is enough); and even so, the only feedback jagex gets from winning that award, outside of runescape community, is negative and/or indiferent one.

I'm not anti-jagex, I actually love runescape, it's just very clear for me that runescape is very far from deserving that award if equal circumstances were put into place.

I don't think there is any question as to whether or not there are bigger gaming fanbases or communities, but the question is would they be passionate enough about the game to vote for any award (in this case GJAs). You need people who care enough to vote - with or without marketing it, marketing it just makes potential voters aware. They may have communities 100x the size, but without caring these people won't vote. Heck I play RS all the time but I won't be voting because I honestly don't care.

Companies running the other games can do exactly what jagex are doing. And if they want the awards they should! The fact there is so much negative press towards RS (although i would question the notion that outside of the RS community that it is completely negative/indifferent but that's neither here nor there) makes winning these awards much more important. The only negative press I've heard from WoW for example is Gold Farmers and rediculous addictions (but no where near the level of the hype about RS). Awards like these serve smaller communities much more than the bigger ones, so it's much more important to a Runescape/Jagex to a larger one like a WoW.

Um.

So someone talking on behalf on others experience suddenly becomes only one person experience? If it takes several people to reflect the popularity of a game would you rather hear it from a single person who knows about it or do you want me to bring here every single person who talked about other games between communities? Brb, gimme a couple of years.

So someone talking on behalf on others experience suddenly becomes only one person experience? If it takes several people to reflect the popularity of a game would you rather hear it from a single person who knows about it or do you want me to bring here every single person who talked about other games between communities? Brb, gimme a couple of years.

Talking about what YOU have observed is YOUR experience. If you were to take a large scale poll then you aren't just representing YOUR observations, you are representing the obversations and views of all voting. Else you are just sitting here throwing your views and opinions and claiming them to be representative of a broader view, without any support. (Hint: "I see it happening" isn't support)

Thje fact you keep posting the same gif without actually responding with content does not prove to help you or your argument. But keep standing down and ignoring half my posts. I'm ok with that.

*Note to spread to all representantive jobs*: "You are all clearly getting paid for nothing as you still need to bring whatever amount of people you represent to valid a point".

Thanks, I'll have that in mind, brb, let me gather all the people I've met in 10 years of gaming experience

On a more serious subject, I never claimed I couldn't provide proof, how else do you think I would be going around saying I can speak for many. It's just a way to redirect and summarize a point based on several claims and facts. Either way, my point is not really mine when it takes just a couple of google searches to find more people making it valid, if you know where to look at and actually experienced other gaming communities before, which I know/have. Do you? How many mmo's have you actually played or do you even play any other game outside of runescape?

Let's compare "popularity" shall we? :3 I'll choose league of legends vs runescape for this.

Since playerbase ammounts are rarely ever released, change constantly and are nothing but rough estimates, we can't really base it on that, ironic eh? So let's based it on what it is said about both games where support CAN be proved. Not only that, this also works to prove the game's actual popularity outside of it's own community.

On facebook:

LoL: 1.7m likes

RS: 585k likes

On twitter:

LoL: 73k followers (I don't think LoL got an actual official twitter, but this guy is the closest to one)

RS: 23k followers

On youtube:

LoL: 912k subscribers

RS: 96k subscribers

If you really wanted "proof", should have just asked ^^, altho not completely accurate, the huge difference speaks for itself when it comes to how "popular" runescape is compared to other games outside of its own community, I think the fact that some rs users have more subscribers than the runescape channel itself says a lot already lol...

Thje fact you keep posting the same gif without actually responding with content does not prove to help you or your argument. But keep standing down and ignoring half my posts. I'm ok with that.

Alright, is this more suiting? Please pick a proper one to express the dismay, thank you c:

Now if you are done with that... circus, allow me to get back on topic, unless you wanna argue about that too in which case I advice you to get some help.

Anyways, am I the only one who thinks it would be absolutely hilarious if the winner turns out to be something else, as the award is being announced during runefest? Or is it just me? lol. If anyone here is going, please, for the love of God, record that moment and upload it on youtube.

Short on time atmut will add that even if jagex somehow wins the gja with their shameless vote pr....

I will have gotten enough satisfaction from the community backlash and the anti botting sentiment it has stirred.

Thank you jibllix and thank you for everyone in the community who was brave enough to speak up against a now corrupt company ran by investors.

Whatever fanboys and bots may put forward in the results, we have already won.

You sound like there's a war going on :P. And just so you know, Jagex is still up and running, just like most of the bots. Even though I agree that it's a great thing that there's more attention being put on the many issues of the game, the fight isn't won yet. We still need more bot-banning and more focus on real game-enchaning updates.

See now, it wasn't that hard to provide some stats to support your point rather than making claims without any evidence was it?

Oh and let's not forget LoL got merely close to 2 years out, compared to more than 10 years runescape has. So you could say that, in a funny way, LoL wasn't even out when RS won that award 2 years ago.
