Investigating the Wise Old Man

oh i though of something,

take example of doomsavengers' graph and the poll of the week in the official rs homepage.

It says that what happen to the king of falador, one said that he got kidnapped by the black knights and as you see on the graph the line goes through black knights fortress so the WOM must be upto something else aswell or this may be a part of his ''conspircy'' of the wizards tower..

plus when u do mini-quests for him, he either tells you to get the following item (could be need for his plot) or send letters to certain people (id say he's blackmailing..)

what do you think?

King of Falador? Since when?

Jagex is asking people in their pole what they think happened to the king of Falador. They aren't stating facts so that makes that whole idea invalid.

Ya they are weak.

Unless they keep their runes in the stomach of the lesser demon i wouldn't even need any food.

I agree, but back in one of the reader letters the WOM says not to underestimate the powers of Wizard Trailborn. That makes me wonder because at first glance he just looks like some old demented wizard. But who knows, maybe he is powerful, and he uses stupidity as a mask.

Back to the thing about the 3rd floor of the wizard's tower. Lets say that when the tower was rebuilt is was built the same way as the original one, and every one had jobs like the original one. Lets say that they were investigating summoning; that would mean one of the wizards now investigates summoning. Lets say that the wizard who investigates summoning is the guy that sent you on the imp catch quest. Also if you notice he is the one standing in front of the pentacle. So maybe his beads are what he needs to help him summon. Lets say that that was originally Trailborn's job. (and that he is a surviving wizard from the old tower)

At any rate when they rebuilt they were following the original floor plan which called for a cage with a lesser demon in it on the 3rd floor for them to practice summoning on. Grayzag sneaked in and set up shop and learned how to do minor summoning. (He tried to summon a lesser demon like the one in the cage but he can only summon lesser forms. The only lesser form of a lesser demon is an imp.) He figured that you needed to have the beads to summon the full version so he sent his imps to steal the beads. They stole the beads but they were so stupid they didn't bring them back.

I have something to point out in regards to the W.O.M.'s telescope pointing towards the wizard tower. It is only sugested that he is going to attack it. He may be watching it for another reason, although I have no theories on what this may be.

Hope iv'e helped.

If you search his bookcases you'll find a book called "Strange Book" and if you open it to the Reader's Comments section he talks about an upcoming "excursion" to get more runes from the Tower. Then if you talk to him about it after looking through his telescope he basically admits it.

Hey, writing this has got me thinking. In the book he says that he's running low on runes, and that "another" excursion to the Tower is needed. :-k "Another?" I see that as either he has attacked the Tower once before (original Wizard's Tower?) or he's just referring to the bank robbery.

Well, he might be referring this: Another excursion... Not another excursion to the tower! He is just talking about his "excursion" to the bank, that means if that is an "excursion", he will att the tower, and hey , if you ask me, he might win becaus ehe had defeated the Kalphite Queen alone :P

Unless Traiborn is as powerful as WOM thinks, there may be an epic battle between them.

Do you think the appearence of the poll in the RS main page about the king of Falador has anything to do with the appearence of the strange rocks NE of Falador? I've got a hunch that the Templars are very interested in the stones, since they're so close. The real historical Templars would have been, at least.

Im geting the impresion your trying to figure out why he would attack/ rob the tower (im refering to WOM). But a better question is what does he need the runes for. I'd be willing to accept that he just needs more runes, but what for?

Think about it, and you might answer other questions by accident.

We have that pretty much narrowed down to

A. Doesn't know about runecrafting, so he needs runes from another source. Not likely that he wouldn't know, since he's so wise.

B. Needs special kinds of runes that only the Tower has, probably for new kinds of spells (i.e. summoning, necromancy)

I watched the log in page recently and saw one of the symbols appear in the flame that's also on those weird stones north east of Falador. Summoning runes, probably. My bet is that the Tower has a secret stash of summoning runes somewhere.

I do agree the thing about "not underestimating Wizard Trailborn" caries a lot of importance. At first you just think of some humdrum crazy old wizard. Why would some one of importance (the guy who kept Silverlight) give the sword to him? Also could the royal bed in the basement be for some one like that. The descendant in Demon Slayer could be the Varrock connection in the secret society. Think about he isn't in direct power but he does hold some power over the king because of his ancestry. That sounds like the Templars to me.

That would also explain why the WOM went to Varrock.

Just a cotton picking moment... Lets say that the demon on the third floor was there for summoning. The dard wizards were trying to summon a new demon my studying it. The new demon was Delrith. They were thrown out and in the process they burnt the tower down. The expelled wizard went to outside of Varrock. Then they proceeded to summon the demon that they almost summoned in the tower. He went out and ravaged Varrock. The wizards back at the tower formed a society that if ever a demon was summoned they could stop it. They figured out how to make Silverlight and then the one knight used it to kill the demon. The one knight stayed in Varrock as a mole to find out if anything like that would happen again. Trailborn is one of the original founders of the society and he is now the leader.

Yes, I forgot about Traiborn holding one of the 3 keys to Silverlight! This is an excellent find! This could be a very vital connection. Another key was given to Captain Rovin in the castle, could that mean he also has some connection to the society? This is very good...

Here's what I think. Grayzag was the original discoverer of summoning. To prove his knowledge he summoned a lesser demon, hoping to show that he was in fact very powerful, and then "de-summon" the demon when he was finished showing off. However, we know from some sources in Runescape (Malignus, I believe) that there was some accident, and Grayzag was mentally incapacitated from the accident, and lost most of his abilities. Since Grayzag could no longer "De-summon" the lesser, the other mages put up that cage in Grayzag's room, so it could not escape and go on a rampage. The cage probably has some anti-demon capabilities, maybe using some powers of Saradomin.

Anyway, Grayzag was now impaired, so he could only summon little imps instead of great demons like he could before. Some evil wizards got word of this and wanted to find out themselves how to summon, so Grayzag taught them how to summon imps. By combining their skills, the wizards were able to summon Delrith and have it attack Varrock. But somewhere down the line the secret society found out about the evil wizards̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ plan, and asked the mages in the Wizard̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Tower for help. The mages who had made the cage to contain Grayzag̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s demon created a sword with the same magical properties as the cage and gave it to the society. The society named the sword Silverlight, and a ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åchosen one̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

maybe teh WOM is just a Wise Old Man....

No offence, but you would have to be one stupid old man if you are going to rob a bank without a reason for it. (Which is why I think there is a reason behind the robbery.)

I like your idea, (KCHughes) but how does the WOM fit into it. He would have to have been there to know what happened...

Also I don't think that Grayzag was the original dark wizard. He might be a descendant, but to me it seems that the only ones who might have originally been there were Trailborn and the WOM. He found out the basics of summoning from the wizards that were banished but he could only summon imps.

Either way works, but why when they rebuilt the tower would they put the cage there? Maybe it was there to practice summoning on. While they were practicing summoning something new and bigger (Delrith) the new demon broke out of the cage an burnt down the wizard's tower. Or also there was an argument inbetween the dark wizards and the normal wizards and the dark wizards tried to summon Delrith to prove their power but he burnt the tower down. Either way after the dark wizards were expelled the normal wizards rebuilt the tower and formed the society when they rebuilt they built a cage like you were saying.

Another twist on your idea. Lets say that the dark wizards were trying to summon something more powerful... Like an elder dragon. They tried to summon an elder dragon, but they summoned something with the base of a demon, but with traits of an elder dragon. What they summoned was Delrith. (This is a little far fetched but oh well.)

I was thinking that Grayzag would have had his summoning accident in the new tower, not the old one, which is why there's a cage in the new one.

OK, I see what you mean. Grayzag wasn't the original discoverer of summoning, but maybe learned from the original one who discovered it. What if the mage who taught Grayzag about summoning had been one of the mages involved in the first Delrith incident in Varrock? Perhaps he was the only survivor and Grayzag became his apprentice, but could only summon imps. Maybe Grayzag one day was trying really hard to summon something better and "accidently" summoned a demon. But he obviously doesn't know enough about controlling the things he summons (he loses his imps all the time, right?) and the demon wounded him, and the other mages had to bring it under control with that cage. That would explain Grayzag's accident, and would explain why he couldn't have been around as long as Traiborn and WOM. That would satisfy both of our theories, I think.

I just got Silverlight again and took it to WOM, and he seemed very excited about it. He offers 80gp for it, much higher than Mizgog's beads, but he seems equally enthusiastic about both. There has to be some connection between him and the Delrith incident. It just makes sense that there would be.

How did he get so rich? He's got Lvl 60 magic(to cast god spells). He beat the mage in the mage arena. Casted Saradomin strike 100 times inside the Arena. He became so powerful (99 in all stats?) but wanted to buy the skill capes. He blasted into the bank and stolen players' items from their banks. When people say they're hacked and they find that their valueables have disspeared, the WOM took the items from our banks. But he was not allowed to get the skillcapes for somereason. He's mad. He wants himself to be the most powerful mage there is. So he's gonna blow up the Wizard's tower and make himself the only one who can use magic! He'll summon demons, and use Saradomin's power to destroy Gielnor!

To everybody who did alot of research =D> Its a great topic and i'll be looking back on this, i didnt get bored at all (Which is extremely weird)

And another thing, if you look to that video from the robbery you see somebody stealing from stals..

Maybe he helped WOM? He had to steal things so the guards wouldnt notice WOM get in the bank.. It seems like that person wears a Legends cape..

AND, he uses saradomin strike on that guard that comes in to arrest him but he hits 44, wasn't the max hit of saradomin strike 30? :S

To some extent it does make sense but it doesn't in others. IF Jagex did something like that they be brining around the apocalypse it would ruin their whole game. THAT WOULD NOT BE SMART. Think about it. Jagex brings in about 2 million a year on this game (at the bare minimum) and if I had something like that going for me I sure wouldn't destroy it. (This applies to all apocalypse theories.)

I was thinking... I think one of the big hints here is that he only identifies things from nonmember quests. So any object that is going to be important is going to come from a nonmember quest.

Here is my own quick little list:

Silverlight

The beads from imp catcher

Colored goblin armors from goblin diplomacy

The keys from Demon Slayer

Map pieces from Dragon slayer

Maze Key from dragon slayer

Oil can from Earnest the chicken

Pressure gauge from Earnest the chicken

Rubber tube from Earnest the chicken

Blurite from the knight's sword

The knight's sword from the knight's sword

The key from pirate's treasure

The wig from Prince Ali rescue

The skin coloring from Prince Ali rescue

The key mold (or whatever it is) from Price Ali rescue

Ghost speak amulet from the restless ghost

The skull from the restless ghost

Cadaver potion from Romeo and Juliet

The package Sendridor sends to Aurbury from Rune Mysteries

The notes Aurbury sends to Sendridor from Rune Mysteries

The intelligence report from Jonny the Beard from Sheild of Arav

The key to the weapons cache from shield of Arav

Phoenix crossbows from the Shield of Arav

The parts of the shield from Shield of Arav

The certificates from the Shield of Arav

The Garlic from Vampire slayer

The wooden stake from Vampire Slayer

That's all I can think of at the moment.

I redid Demon slayer and here are some of my pics:

wallydn7.jpg

Interesting thing, in the cut seen there are no druids or wizards there...

The gypsy says that a cult of Druids summoned him... Also when talking to her you get the impression that she was there. Also this happened 150 years ago. (I think)

Here are some of my notes from redoing the quest:

Sir Pyrism (or whatever his name is) is the great-grandson of Wally.

The king made him lock up silverlight so that it didn't fall into the wrong hands.

Sir Prysim dropped his key

Sir Prysim says that Trailborn used to be on the first floor of the tower...

Capitan Rovin Dislike sir Prysim... so why would he have a key? (because he is part of the society?)

Capitan Rovin says that the king made Prysim give the key to him

Thats all for the moment as far as that goes.

Important little tidbit:

summoningxn1.jpg

(this is before you do imp catcher)

Hummm... Also when you examine him it says master of imps.

Over to Mizgog. Look at this picture...

summoning2pe2.jpg

If you make a triangle with the urns on the shelfs (what I was examining) and Mizgog the pentacikle (or whatever it is) is in the middle... (if it was perfectly strait up)

That's all for the moment...

Hmm. She said Delrith was summoned by Chaos Druids, not by dark wizards. That should be relevant. Chaos druids hang out in the wilderness, right?

The gypsy is something like 230 years old, because she gives you a formula to know how old she is. And she looks to me like she's in good shape. Her hair is gray, not white like WOM's or Traiborn's. They could be older than that.

Rovin could have been entrusted with a key because he's also in the society. Even though Prysin doesn't like him, it wasn't Prysin's decision to give him a key. Someone higher up, perhaps?

But according to Rovin the king made him give the key to him...

Also does any one know how long the ages were and when they were? (and what age we are in now?)

I am saying this because I think there also might be a connection with the shield of Arrav.

Point 1: If u r P2P and u hav lvl 99 in a skill u talk 2 the skill cape owner with 99k(i think) 2 purchace the skill cape.

All skill cape owners wear there cape, excpt the owner of skill cape of quest-points, the WOM. Y dosen't he wear the cape?

Point 2: This is only a theory! The lady WOM teles is probaly going 2 falador. ̢̮â¬Å¡ÃâÃÂ¥ do i think this? Simply because when u think about it is rite near the wine of zammy respawn and Monks of Zammy. It is also near Blk nights fortress and Dark nights fortress also DORIC think about it. . . y does he ask u 2 get those ingredints? Every1 who beat doric's quest might have helped the WOM. Also I think the King of fally was kidnapped by a blk night. Correct? Mabye there r undercover agents across the RS globe!

Hope i helped

But according to Rovin the king made him give the key to him...

Also does any one know how long the ages were and when they were? (and what age we are in now?)

I am saying this because I think there also might be a connection with the shield of Arrav.

We're in the 5th age, year 169. The 1st was 4000 years, the 2nd was 2000, the 3rd was 4000, and the 4th was 2000.

the russians are the best! Hands down!

As far as your first point goes, we don't know the WOM"s level. It is never shown anywhere. For instance in the Swan Song quest guide there is a picture of him being hit 200 something damage and there is no red on his hp bar. That is like many other non level creatures in Runescape. Also I don't think that the skill cape applies to him. That would be like giving the guy in the mage arena a skill cape.

As far as your second point: Doric's quest around way before the WOM was around. Also I don't think the WOM works with the "dark side." In his book money is more important than anything else, and after that Saradom.

Also to clear up the confusion about the king of Fally: There was never anything that stated that he was kidnapped, it was just that Jagex was asking players what they thought happened to him, not what actually happened.
