Mh1456
Another quick question about bots and bans. Yes, I know I ask too many questions, but I'm still deciiding whether or not to resubcribe. I know a player who botted slayer, and a result got very very high combat stats as well. However he did not always bot, he isn't an account that just bots 1-99 woodcutting at level 3 for example. Does Jagex reset stats or ban people like him? I dont know because they dont release ban lists anymore (?). I know theres a lot of bots, but all I want to know is if they punish SOME people atleast, because then I'm reassured that being 100% legit is worth it and botting isn't worth the chance (how ever small) of being banned. TLDR - I know they punish level 3 wc bots, etc pretty quick and harshly when they find them, but do they punish normal high level players who decided to bot? Krampell
They ban every player, no matter what they do, but not enough though.
Cheefoo
They don't discriminate between members and non-member bots. It's a pretty easily policy to uphold, seeing as they don't ban anyone in the first place. Hamtaro
I'm known in W64 for my disruptive behavior and offensive language (although limited to those who annoy me) and I haven't received a black mark since 2008. I've also had consecutive membership for the past 5.5 years. I'm not directly saying there's any correlation between the two, but if you were to put 2 and 2 together, Jagex is known for telling you it's 5. If I were obsessed with this game and had no pride, I could bot and get away with it unscathed. I've also had some friends directly tell me in game that they botted some skill for PKing on their main account at some point over the summer, and all of them were on yesterday when I did that new quest. Jagex values $ more than the responsibilities they have in regards to the rights of legitimate players. Player since 2004. Wessan
Banning, ugh, such a harsh term. Lets call it administrative obstruction. Now that we have all that ugliness out of the way, we at Jagex like to see everyone enjoy the game to its fullest potential while playing by the rules. We take care to make sure those who operate outside the rules receive equivalent reprimand for their actions. Administrative obstruction to the game is a harsh punishment we do not wish on any player so we avoid it at all cost by giving you 1, 2, 3, or even more attempts to retrieve your account once we have issued such punishment. We hope you are back to enjoying the game after learning valuable lessons.

Kimberly
Ok...but no offense, it belongs in general. I needed neither help or advice, just an answer. If you have a question that needs an answer, you need help. Therefore it belongs in help & advice. General Discussion is for more broad topics that talk about things in Runescape today. The purpose of the topics are discussion, not producing an answer. So no, it really doesn't belong in General Discussion. :P E: I'm PM'ing this to you in case you've missed it :P

Kimberly
This is/i] a broad topic and it does belong in General Discussion. He's not asking a direct question. He is wanting to know experiences of other people with them. It is a direct question based on how the TC has framed the post. If that was not his intention he's welcome to contact me via PM and we'll work it out. Another quick question about bots and bans. Yes, I know I ask too many questions, but I'm still deciiding whether or not to resubcribe. I know they punish level 3 wc bots, etc pretty quick and harshly when they find them, but do they punish normal high level players who decided to bot? But if we assume that it is a broad discussion topic, in that case it's a duplicate topic. In the General Discussion board, discussion about botting goes here In the future, if you disagree with moderator decisions you can contact the moderator in question via PM or contact an administrator directly. But posting on a topic is easily missed and also drives the topic away from its original purpose. I'm sure that a person who disagrees enough with a decision to confront someone about it wants their answers and wants to see it handled in a satisfactory manner, after all. So please PM me if you have any more concerns and let the topic get back on track.
Troacctid
They don't ban bots in the first placeThey ban hundreds of thousands of bots a year (averaging thousands every day, and more than half of them are members). Powerfrog
I've been jotting down every single 130+ that i report as a bot at waterfiends and after a month since the first one wanna know how many have been banned? (At least when i checked)... 0. 27 people on my list that were botting and reported, a few by multiple people, and 0 of them have been banned (When i checked) or had their stats reduced. I have a theory that after x years of playing and/or x total skill you become immune to being reported, because those are the people most likely to continue paying membership if left alone, and most likely to quit runescape alltogether if their amazing account is banned and they have to start again. I really dispise jagex for this. But from a business point of view, totally understand and admire them for it. I suggest you start doing the same, and see just how lenient jagex really are on high levels. You'll be shocked by the results.
Mh1456
- bot programs could keylog you, or give you a virus- I would feel like a cheater :/- but at the same time its dumb that the guy beside me botted to 99 range and I didnt but we're both still here

The big public bots are perfectly safe, the only people that get keylogged are the ones that google 'roonscape ddosin' and download everything, spamming through the virus alerts. My theory is from personal experience and fact. 27 botters reported and no action taken at all against any of them is pretty solid evidence for me. Where is your eveidence that this is not the case? I have lots of 130+ friends that i'm sure bot (Not responding to PMs, turning private off altogether and gaining several levels), but none of them have ever been banned, either. It's pretty obvious jagex don't want to ban bots from a business point of view. They pay money, a lot more money than the few legit players that quit because of the bot problem. Why would they ruin that for themselves when there are gullible players that will believe every word of 'we're trying' that they're spoonfed?
