Equipment for TzTok-Jad (Fight Caves)

Recommended Posts

Gotten another slayer task on Jad, having already failed on the same task 3 times already due to silly reasons I want to make sure I complete this one by killing Jad for the 1st time ever in my RS career (yeah I know I stink at it :wall: )

My combat stats:

93 all melee stats

95 hp (950 LP)

87 Magic

90 Range

77 Prayer

Equips I plan to bring:

Head: Full Slayer helm or Void Ranger

Neck: Amulet of Glory

Body & Legs: Black Dhide or Void equipment

Weapon & Off Hand: Rune Crossbow with 1k Diamond Bolts(e) and Imbued Unholy book

Gloves: Barrow Gloves from RFD

Boots: Snakeskin boots

Ring: Explorer's ring

Aura: Reverence

Inventory: 1x Enchanced Excalibur (Hard Seers tasks), 5 Sara brews (4) and 22 Super Restore pots (4)

Need some advice on the equips that I can improve to make it easier, in particular the Ring and Boots slots, without spending too much GP (grinding mini game points is fine). Also undecided on Full Black DHide or Full Void ranger is better

If it is slayer task, Full Slayer helm is better.

Although I doubt you actually need the diamond bolts, I do just fine on Broad bolts.

Assuming no large amount of money spent, you don't have much of a choice about the boots, the next thing costs about 18m. You can get archer ring, but it wouldn't be necessary.

What i do suggest is getting a Blessed spirit shield and a Verac skirt, saves on healing potions, unless you don't care about using them whatsoever.

Blessed Spirit shield and Verac's bottom are affordable (I have about 4 mil if I need to spend), but why Verac's? is it better in terms of soaking/defense against black dhide?

Would really love to try Gano armour with PPS but the prices are out of my league for now

Verac skirt helps with slower prayer drain and better defence than a d hide chaps. Fight cave creatures have a relatively weak defense that you won't need a very high ranged attack bonus to do well.

The Gano/PPS combo is recommended for Jad, but for waves, ranged is better.

Actually, pps is VERY effective on all of the monsters, and if you have Storm of Armadyl, even better! You would need to spend about 2m on Armadyl runes though, which I assume is out of the question. :wall:

You should also consider meleeing the whole caves, however this is difficult without overloads...

Bring 3 (Extreme) range pots and 8 brews for mess-ups on Jad, eee should stop you needing any more than that.

> Relatively weak defence

> PPS has higher raw damage output

There are very few places where maxed pps does not beat maxed ranged, mainly places where you can use void handcannon and rigour with good accuracy or monsters like Kree'arra and Nex. Although you can use void handcannon in the caves quite well, in this case it's on a slayer task, which means pps is practically always better.

Ganodermic has so much magic soak that Jad won't be able to hit over 600, which is a massive advantage if you fail switching at times.

Use: Full slayer helmet, ganodermic poncho, ganodermic leggings, polypore staff, arcane spirit shield > mage's book > blessed spirit shield, infinity > mystic boots, barrows gloves, arcane stream necklace, Soul Wars cape or Ardougne cloak 3/4.

You'll need 3 overloads or Vecna's skull and some magic potions (as many as you can comfortably carry). Use enhanced Excalibur for a little extra healing, bring 8 prayer potions, 6 super restores and 6 Saradomin brews.

If you want an easier time regarding conserving prayer, swapping two prayer pots out for renewals helps quite a lot.

And remember to sip brews, super restores, renewals + your best ranged/mage pot before you enter, depending on the method you use.

Neck: Amulet of Glory Amulet of Fury

Body & Legs: Black Dhide or Void equipment Armadyl Chestplate + Verac's Skirt

Weapon & Off Hand: Rune Crossbow with 1k Diamond Bolts(e) and Imbued Unholy book 2000 Emerald Bolts (e) + 200 Diamonds for Jad, Book of Balance cause I'm cheap

Gloves: Barrow Gloves from RFD

Boots: Snakeskin boots

Ring: Explorer's ring

Aura: Reverence None

Inventory: 1x Enchanced Excalibur (Hard Seers tasks), 5 Sara brews (4) and 22 Super Restore pots (4)

*Bold is for what I used.

I'm not saying they're better, but should be a general outline of what people usually use for Jad, since my equipments are based on like 5 videos and 3 guides. Also bring a prayer renewal for Jad.

I've never tried Ganodermic before, but it should be pretty good because of the mage soak.

Gano and pps is brilliant. The only real trouble you'll have if inexperienced with jad is when the healers come. A brilliant way to deal with this is to claw jad as soon as the healers appear. He'll be 700-1200 hp depending on your final hit before the healers are called. You can easily double spec and then pps this health down before the healers can do anything. It's relatively safe too, as you tank melee and magic quite effectively, and fully protected from range, and you can get both specs in the time he has 1 chance to attack you. Use vengeance at this stage to make it even easier for you, especially if he melees or mages a nasty hit. Of course make sure you're full hp and 125 stats before you claw, to maximise the chance of a KO, and minimise the chance of death.

The less climactic alternative is to just kill the healers with pps while protecting from jad. He will only spawn 8. (Very rarely spawns more than the initial 4, in my experience.)

If you're using storm of armadyl, you can just ignore the healers and kill jad WHILE they attempt to heal him. Yeah. SoA is overpowered. This is the safest and easiest method.

Thanks for the replies, probably will buy the shield and verac's bottom later when I log on

The Gano armour set and Armadyl's chest piece are both far too expensive for me, will have to try that when I have more money.

Btw I only have 74 Herblore, so I can only make basic pots :|

Ganodermic isn't even that expensive, if you can't afford it yet I'd recommend making some money - MTK for a few days and some dragon hunting should do the trick.

Powerfrog, if you choose to kill the healers instead of tanking them, then they will respawn only if they manage to heal Jad to full health before you kill them all.

Ahh thanks for that. I knew it was health related, but didn't want to say 'If jad is under half health they will not spawn' because they have not spawned for me at 3/4th health before, and i assumed it was half health.

No more than 4 typically spawn for me because i generally kill them before they heal him fully, i guess.

About the full health thing. Does jad have to be none-full health per healer that dies? Or only for the 4th healer that dies? Or do they start spawning the second he gets full health? Or something else?!?

Edit: Lost and regained a firecape today after posting this lol. Pretty eventful day.

As long as Jad is not fully healed when you kill the healers, they will not respawn.

@ OP: If you want to melee the Fight Caves, try:

FSH

Glory/Fury

SW Cape/other Cape

Bandos / Proselyte Hauberk+V Skirt

Rapier/Whip

Dragon Defender

Barrows Gloves

Dragon Boots

Zerker Ring/Explorer's Ring 4/none

Inventory:

3 Super Sets (- Super Defence)

6 Brews

3 Super Restores

EE/EEE/Claws or both if you have

Rest P Pots

As soon as Jad spawns, find him and Rapier him till half health, then Claw Spec him. If he doesn't get KOed, continue to stab him. :P

As for Protection Prayers, always switch to Protect Melee after he uses his Mage/Range attacks.

Really? Cause as I recall it was you who was the one cussing me at base. Also, re-read what you just said: one 15 second delay (which is an exaggeration to begin with) ruins floor times? You are beyond ridiculous.
