Retech, the excess seeds would be stored and/or distributed by the Mayor, while the highest quality ones go back onto the fields. I don't at all understand how Capitalism is relevant to this, it will only negatively affect our efficiency and cohesion. I've never heard of this being done before, just think what we could accomplish!

Seriously, just present any other arguments you have. I have yet to imagine a flaw in this strategy.

I will not share what I have unless it is of my own free will and would not join a village that would force it. I would cultivate my own crops to produce food for my profit and share a few high quality seeds so that others could establish their own fields. I would raise my own herd of livestock and donate any extra bulls if other people needed them, to have more offspring for their cattle.

This was the reason why I left Falador in the first place. This additude that everything belongs to everyone. A community is weak when everyone does not work primarily for themselves, because no one has any motivation to work for everyone. They will still receive the benefit of other people's work, if they do not work.

I'm sure at least a few others would agree with me on this. If we have differing opinions, then I have an idea. Those who wish to work for their own benefit and those who wish to work for the benefit of the town can still live in the same place, but those that want to work for themselves don't have to contribute goods to the town (not infrastructure and defence) but won't receive benefit from the town's goods. Naturally, we would still live nearby so we could still be together as a community.

Honestly, the only thing that would really mandate work on the village would be infrastructure (communal buildings, roads) and the village wall. And of course village defence.

Complete communism wouldn't work. People will just get annoyed and ragequit.

In Sodom's case, we had communism, yes, but we also had personal property. Our town smith/jeweler would make jewelry and call us over to the smithy area that was by the idol. Top fighters of course had a priority when receiving Thane's Rings. Crafters received thimbles. You could make a request and the jeweler would make the items for you, although he would ask you to go mine gold or silver if we were low on silver/gold stocks.

We would do mining parties where people were obligated to help out. People with full industry alts would mine ore, and other people would equip traveler's sacks and pick up the ores and put them into the cupboards in the mine. When we filled all cupboards, the ores were taken to the surface (but with recent updates, smelters can be in mines) and smelt the ores. The resulting bars (or in the case of precious metals, nuggets) would be stored in specific cupboards in Sodom's main mine (the mine entrance was located in the smithy/industry area). Precious metals were then taken by the LS and stored in strongboxes.

Honestly, the only thing that would really mandate work on the village would be infrastructure (communal buildings, roads) and the village wall. And of course village defence.

:) Listen to this man.

I'll draw up the perfect village arrangement for you guys if you wish.

What I want from the new village:

1. Source of clay. Don't care if it's high or low q, but we NEED this to block raiders. Wooden walls are crap defense.

2. Metal mine. Don't specifically care if it's iron, as we could probably trade for that to get walls, but the key to success in HnH is metal. Also, EVERYONE should have access to the mine. A major problem I saw from my time in WE was that our metal supply was controlled by 1 guy, and when he had to turn to IRL stuff, we had a lot less metal.

3. Far enough away from the other villages (like the remake of Sodom) so that we don't get any "opportunists" joining and stealin' our st00f.

4. Enough land for everyone to be able to actually DO stuff, and farm a little on the side. I, personally, haven't decided what role I'll fill yet, but we'll need at LEAST 30x30 plots per person + houses.

But the mine is important. VERY important. If that's not a starting priority, I'll just hermit my way in a cave somewhere, and have a trade deal with Sodom or something so I don't get destroyed.

Ya know that half the reason for people getting destroyed is because they have a mine. :)

Hey guys.

I'm about to kill my main. Who all has Rage skill? I might share LP :P

He'll get you about 200k LP maybe.

EDIT: Nevermind. I have to do it at Sodom because some fighters died and need the LP.

Well, if only I like this... I suppose I'll just make a village account and work with it alone, if need be. I like to keep things coherent. Perhaps I could function as an accountant? That would help should someone make unscrupulous withdrawals.

And no-one seems to be paying attention to the fact that I suggested we only have these communal workers IN ADDITION TO our own unique characters. And I never said it would be entirely equal, of course there's priority... <_<

EDIT: Part of my original thought process was to have whoever was working on that account that day to get the choice of what to work on, as well.

I was only pointing out the arguments I had in regards to the flaws in your strategy, as you said. :)

And I don't think I could handle playing three characters at once.

Okay, so the current plan is (possibly?):

1) Find mine/mud flats

2) Get everyone else in

3) Establish claim/brick wall

4) Get community buildings/fields set up

5) Create weapons

6) Train everyone in combat

7) Possibly establish trade connections

8) ???

9) Profit

EDIT: Am I wrong to think that digging for soil with a chair/water source nearby is a decent way of acquiring lps?

Well Rocco and I seem to be pretty interested in having some water nearby. I will probaly search for a lake like before: convienience of a river without the danger of being next to one.

Guys, how about this. We each have our own specialist jobs, such as me farming, but we extend what we earn LP wise to everything. Also, each specific specialist should have acess to a good area for their specific needs. (Ex, we have a mine, and a head miner. He can get an office really close and have a devent amount of storage.).. Also, I would prefer the clay and metal thing. Useless if we don't...

Naturally, each person can choose to be a specialist if they want. They'll have to trade what they have to get all the goods they need though.

If they have what is needed, then they will make a good living and get all the stuff they need. If they don't, then they'll have to try to survive that way or change what they specialize in. Such is the beautiful nature of capitalism.

Specialization's only good when you have crafters. Don't even focus on that kind of stuff til you guys are well established and have metals and such. Everyone should have a farmer.

Also, when you guys get to the point of silk production, make merchant robes for everyone. Everyone should get metal tools and merchant robes. Those should be free.

Just pointing out that his personality seems highly similar, and he definitely lives in the uk...

And? If you lived in the U.K., I swear you'd accuse yourself of being Hex.

Guys here's the thing,

We wont be able to find a mine straight away, so actually the mine for the first village (if we're going to have to move for the mine) will most likely not be near a mine.

Also I'll do what I did last time and have a small ranch away from the farm, I actually liked it like that, and I helped the village immensly (I gave up 100's of seeds and clay, and even space in my own property)

It's a REALLY big shaft.

I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.

how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time?
