Or, you know, a huge stack of items that a new player would take a long time to get? Or even the badges that have your join date on them? I don't care whether I get items that show up in the inventory (to me only) as blue, I don't care if I get a hat that can got to other players anyway from buying something cheap in the Mann-Co store. Alg Posted June 24, 2011 Share Posted June 24, 2011 Actually, you get the Proof of Purchase hat automatically if you had the game before the Uber Update was released. Going to the Mann Co store just gives you whatever items you haven't received yet in general (Usually drops, as you receive them when you die; if the server you're playing on has a fast respawn time or you just don't die, you'll receive them either when you go to the store or the next time you die on a server with longer spawn times. It also does this if you disconnect while crafting). At this point TF2 is what, 4 or 5 years old? Making an older product free isn't unheard of, least of all for Valve. They made Portal 1 free on at least two occasions, once a little over a year ago and again when they released Portal 2. I've been conned out of £13.95, although I think its reasonable to make the game free to play I just think that they should give a reasonable reward to people who actually paid the full price for it, a hat that I personally dislike isn't good enough.More premium content, less free content.
