Res. That sort of crap isn't helping. I don't know what's wrong that you've taken such a pragmatic view, but I know what my problems are... Yes, I've been distracted, because I've been brooding over my place here. I see the world, I see that kind of attitude, and I think it's not worth dealing with. I see my life, I see that I love even those who don't deserve it, and I think that if someone, anyone would return those feelings that my existence would be worthwhile.

I won't settle for a crushed spirit and decades of monotony, I'd sooner walk into the wild and leave my fate to nature.

Coincedentally, you're probably better at practical than theory. And it's easier to fail a practical subject.

@Resistance

The only people I know who do GCSE's and A-levels are either people who do exceedingly well in their GCSE's and take an a-level course with them (it happens also in some GCSE courses) and people who did redicously bad in their GCSE's but did well enough to get into a college. And as you say you're older, then you're the latter...

Unless of course you for some reason justifying taking a course that will probably not help you at all cause you're taking another course that is in every way better on your qualifications.

It's a REALLY big shaft.

Nex, these things resolve themselves over time, but until they do you will have the urge to discuss them with people (Or silently think about them).

Important thing is to make sure what happens over the next few days doesn't end up having a long term effect.

By this I mean two things:

First, some people get drunk and do something stupid...either killing themselves or doing something regretful.

Second, some people come up with insane theories about the world (aka me) and they make some things better, some things worse.

In any event, your a good person.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

We tend to have specialized issues here. The entire rest of the staff is practically clueless dealing with Tavern problems, because it's a generally tight-knit community and most conflict revolves around games instead of more tangible grievances. We're generally forgive-and-forget with each other, so on occasion any action being taken will create problems instead of solving them. Like it did with Hex, despite his issues and our annoyance at him, banning seemed wrong somehow.

So I was correct all along Res.... You spoke down to Nex about LIFE even though you HAVEN'T EVEN LIVED THAT MUCH.

Also Res, quite frankly you're being plain rude to Nex who is going through something that you have apparently not done. (Or you may have and it has left you SO emotionally scarred that you have become a misogynist and very pessimistic).

Now I'm sorry if this sounds rude or arrogant to you Res, but if you don't think that the VERY nervous time of asking out a girl isn't emotionally damaging (and by God it is), then you probably haven't been emotionally connected to a girl (or guy) enough to actually feel that.

But don't you say that he is being over dramatic about it. Cause he hasn't done anything crazy, or illogical and he has accepted some points we have brought up.

And don't compare asking out a girl to a dead relative, cause obviously they're on different emotional levels. It's like if I asked a man who was knocked out by a punch "Hey man, it was only a punch, you weren't shot or anything"

You see where I'm going?

It's a REALLY big shaft.

Hah, everyone thinks I'm older than I am, whether it be through the web or in person. I'm tall, and more polite than most people my age to those I meet, and my sentence structure often fools people into thinking they're talking to an older individual over the internet.

Probably learned it 'cause of my dad working with tech support and such. Whether it's dealing with a client or with Microsoft, he tends to get along with acquaintances.

This is actually an interesting thing about the internet. You think everyone's some kind of adult and BAM! 14-16 and more mature than a lot of 18-22's.

It ain't just the internet. I had plenty of people that thought I was ~20 before I told them how old I actually was. Then again, maybe that's part of being a university student when normally I wouldn't be halfway through highschool...

Right now? If I told you the courses then you could probably track me down, and I have no freakin' idea if I'm a genius or not. I've had people say "OMG yer a genius" before, but I don't think that counts.

And Tech, you could bet that if I had lived in China/Korea instead of being in the wonderfully restricted U.S. educational system, I would know calculus by the time I was 10 years old. BUT NO, AMERICA, YOU HAVE TO TEACH US HOW TO DO BASIC ARITHMETIC FOR TWO WEEKS EVERY FREAKIN' YEAR UNTIL WE HIT COLLEGE.

On the lighter side....I have been thinking about Space.

Space V2, to be precise.

Set 150 years after the battle of Nero's Peril (The system we were in).

No one is entirely sure what happened and the system has been offlimits ever since. Some say that garbled transmissions spoke of a rip in space that swallowed everything, others say that Admiral Dusty didn't want Nero found...Whatever the truth, it is largely forgotten by all but the scholars.

What happened in Sol is far more interesting. Before the TFS Germanicus, and its escorts departed in chase of the Unity, fugitives from 'the time before', it annexed several Alliance and Commonwealth Worlds, bringing them under the Banner of the Terran Federation. With his position guarenteed he approached the Terran base on Mars and offered Admiral Dusty his services, becoming Heir Imperator of the Terran Federation.

Over the next six months a brutal and bloody war to subjugate the Sol System was fought out between the Combined Britions and the Terrans, ending in eventual truce.

Captain Nero, sickened by the weakeness of Admiral Dusty left to reform the Terran Federation is parts unknown, and hunt down the Unity, but as soon as Nero had left the system the war resumed, but with far greater battles being fought...The Terran Federation would not accept anything but total subservience from all of Humanity, even if it destroyed them in the process.

Several more years of bloody fighting and the British defences still stood as strong as ever, but their asteroid fields were depleted, and their population problem no closer to resolution...They gave unconditional surrender to the Terran Federation and were welcomed as brothers, the people fed and were allowed to spread to the Federation worlds of Io, Europa and Mars.

Thus was born the Empire that would dominate mankind from that day to this, with colony worlds in three systems and an embassy in the Universal Council.

But all of this is a prelude. A new adventure awaits you as the Titan Class Transport, Sarlane, passes through the Jump Gate to the Astare system. Many of your fellowship mates are simple settlers, some soliders, some explorers...destined to have lakes and rivers named after them, but you...you chosen few have been chosen by Imperial Command, to lead this expedition into the unknown.

[/backstory]

Game Mechanics:

Ok, you have arrived in the Astare System, along with 500,000 colonists, who are now under your collective control, through Edicts, Laws and other such stuff. Obviously a team of beaucrats have also been included so don't feel that you 'have' to micromanage.

However, the System is wild. Beyond the single planet, and the orbital jump gate linking you to the rest of the Empire, the forces of chaos and entropy wait for you.

Two ships have been assigned to your command, as well as Colony Control.

The ships, and the colony, are yours to design from an overall budget of 100,000 kT.

The Imperial Government has demanded that this colony pay at least 25,000 kT per year(12 sessions, or 4 weeks, 1 real life month...on average). However if there are extenuating circumstances less is acceptable, and sometimes aid will be given if things are going terribly...but if everything you touch turns to gold then the demands will grow.

Abandoning the colony entirely is also perfectly fine, though if things go poorly you will probably never get the chance to resume command, so be advised.

First session would be strictly a non-play session...Since there will probably be questions, like what is the Council, what is the Empire like...and what do you mean the Ship Prices have changed!?

Second session can either be a limited-play session(set onboard the Sarlane, the Transport Vessel), where you can interact with people, practice combat or ask questions.

Third session onwards would be normal play.

Character Creation:

There are four Classes and three Specialities, you can mix and match as you see fit.

Classes give you starting bonuses, Specialities give you long term bonuses.

Classes:-

Commander: You recieve command of 4 Soliders, who, like you, will regenerate at a cost of 10,000 Credits.

Settler: You have 2,000 kT of supplies that you can metamorphise into anything you want. (Ship prices have/will be increased to a minimum of 1,000)

Researcher: You have 20 Tech Points to spend as you see fit.

Curio: Be you Research AI, or Alien Race X, this is the class where you get to be 'non-Human'. You can design your own bonuses, GM approval pending.

Specialitiy:-

Tactical: You are capable of using any sort of weapon, flying any sort of craft, and generally ordering people about. (You recieve 1 free Technobabble on Weapons OR Command OR Flying, each session)

Medical: While everyone can wrap a bandage, only you can perform surgery. (You can heal anything that is non-story critical.)

Engineer: You know ship systems, lock tumblers and keypads like the back of your hand (You recieve 1 free Technobabble on Repairs OR Hacking OR Short Circuit, each session)

People also get 4 Technobabbles per session.

You can also trade (Permenently removing it) a TB for 1 Regenerating Solider OR 500 kT OR 5 Tech Points.

During a session you can also trade a TB to do something impossible. This is far more powerful than your ordinary TB.

People also get 5 Tech Points to spend at the beginning of the game. These techs are for everyone. If you research something yourself then it is personally yours.

Anyone have any opinions on it?

If I started running it...Hegemony will obviously have to end.

Also, three nights a week will tread on someone's toes...I am happy to do two or three. One is too few(Glutton for Punishment that I am =P) and four is too many.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Do you really think that the best way to get better marks is get a girfriend instead of revising more?

This has to be the most childish argument I have ever had, in a poetic sense whatever you say, Nexauduro is true but logically and realistically whatever I say is true.

I've never put focus into anything but love and fun, and I'm cruising through school with above-avarage grades. Revising your work and practicing only works if you've performed less than you can manage, what most people need is a drive, and for most people thinking about jobs isn't exactly the kind of drive they need. I've followed my heartt all my life, had I not done that then I would never have gotten to where I am as I improved myself for her, not for my own sake. Also for what soon is half a year now I haven't loved anyone, and my motivation has taken a huge hit, because as of lately y most common thoughts have been, in order of frequency: 1. I really need a girlfriend. 2. What's the point? 3. I hope nothing bad happens in hegemony.

I've rarely had motivation for much of anything besides "I don't want to screw myself over in the future." And as of lately, my most common thoughts have been, in order of frequency: 1. Time to change music. 2. I should probably be doing some homework. 3. Ice cream and cherry Pepsi? WHY THE HELL NOT

My lack of motivation stems from my excess of creativity + short attention span, and vice versa.

It seems remarkably similar to the BOnSAI AI that they had captured earlier, except for one small addition on its head.
