Is there any reason to train the firemaking skill besides the cape?

Recommended Posts

I stopped burning logs a long time ago, the reason for that is because I don't get any money or anything at all for burning those logs.

My firemaking level is now 78. And I just wanna ask, is there any reason to keep training that skill besides that cape? What other benefits does it have?

Well, I did check the guide, and I noticed that I can burn more logs at a higher level. What else?

I have no reason to keep training that skill. Instead of burning logs and get nothing out of it besides firemaking exp, I do something more useful with them. Make them into bows which I can high alch.

At 92 once you complete the Beacon Network minigame you can get the Infernal Adaze which is a Rune Pick + a Dragon Hatcher and when using it to wc you sometimes burn logs for fm xp. Other than that i dont think there is any reason to get 99 other than the cape.

No reason to use a hand cannon though so...

Firemaking is used in some dungeoneering rooms.

Alright, let's talk about the inferno adze.

Yeah, it would be useful to have an item that works both as a hatchet and pickaxe. But I have one reason why I don't think I'll ever be needing that.

I never train both mining and woodcutting at the same time, I only train either of them.

The adze is so good because it has a chance of burning logs that you woodcut, giving you both the woodcutting and the firemaking XP.

Keep plugging away. If you an raise 83 Woodcut and 83 firemake then you get free training at the curly roots (and actually very decent xp there) The Arsonist cape is my next 'slow'goal.

Let me ask you something. Does that mean I will get logs at a slower rate because it burns some of the logs?

I don't find that particularly useful if I want to make bows as quick as possible.

Yes, you'll get actual logs slower. It's useful at places like teaks or arctic pines where you drop logs to maximize woodcutting XP/hr.

I don't care much for EXP, I care more about money and useful items I can use like potions and food.

Maybe most people want to get as many 99s as possible, but I don't really play the game for that. I mostly play RuneScape to fight monsters and make items I can high alch or sell for money, or use.

Then I guess there is no reason for you to keep training firemaking. Fletch 'em and sell 'em! :P

The only real combat use as mentioned is the hand cannon. The higher your firemaking level, the lower the chance of it exploding in your face. (literally.)

The handcannon has the potential to hit over 570-570 in the wilderness at the same time, with quite good accuracy. This means you can literally kill anyone in the game without them even having a chance, if your hits are lucky. :P

Assuming both hits hit, which they often do with the accurate handcannon, that's over a 1/10 chance to kill any player in the wilderness outright. That's rediculously powerful and if you target the right victims, can be very profitable.

At 91, you can get cool firemaking pets from Char. And you need 92 firemaking to complete the elite Varrock task set, and 85 for Fremennik. I mainly got 92 for the achievement diaries.

Finally a reason I can agree with. Yes, it would be useful to have the diary done, because only being able to buy 16 battlestaffs a day, that's not a lot.

I buy battlestaffs while fighting waterfiends to get the EXP and cash for the water battlestaffs I can make.

Best. Skillcape name. Ever. :shades:

I thought with the nerf to the attack speed it wasn't as viable as before? And IIRC even at 99 FM the chance of it blowing off is still significant.

Hand cannons are not more expensive than similar weapons (dstone bolts) but they require inventory space for spare guns.

Well if you want to train firemaking and profit you can burn vyre corpses... Have fun

the only reason to get it up is so you can use effigy state xp on them instead of suffering from the guilt provoked by using the xp on cooking

With the release of Char's Training Cave & firemaking event for the Circus, cooking is actually the preferred effigy skill :P.
