Lep
So a worker at the LCBO really pissed me off today so to annoy them I want to do something simple like put a little combination lock and coat it with honey on their stores handles. Is this illegal? It isn't exactly vandlism or anything. Plus it would take 5 seconds to do anyway so it's not like anyone would see me.
The Floating Pen
Rather than it being illegal or not, have you considered whether it's the best course of action to take? Go read the newest edition of the Tip.It Times!
Lep
Rather than it being illegal or not, have you considered whether it's the best course of action to take? I'd prefer to do something more effective. You're right. I should find out where the old woman lives then wreck havoc and let all hell break loose on her house/lawn. Shouldn't be hard I guess. She probably works 8 hours so I could just follow her when she's done working.

Lep
Grow up. If you're old enough to buy alcohol you should be old enough to not act like a 12 year old. That'd the problem. I did. My ID just expired so out of no where she won't sell to me because I grew up. (I have no problem with the guys that work there, they don't care) I don't care what the law is or not, she's a [bleep] who should learn some common courtesy. Especially when I've went there for years and she apparently can't remember people who come every week.
champion
So then get a new ID? If you need alcohol so bad that you can't just renew your ID or whatever you might have some other issues. She could lose her job if she's breaking the law.
Kaida23
My advice would be to calm down and get your ID renewed. She's just doing her job. If your ID is expired and anyone who asks to see it still sells you anything age controlled (ie: alcohol, tobacco, lottery) they could lose their job. I'd probably have done the same thing. You realize that she might get in serious trouble if she was selling you alcohol? You want her to break a law for you and then complain she's not doing it? Danqazmlp
It's her job to check your ID. If it isn't up to scratch, it's your fault not hers. I'm not sure about there, but in the UK, a shop assistant can earn themselves a nice little £5,000 fine for selling anything requiring ID to somebody under age. Not illegal, but damn immature and stupid thing to do. Please grow up. Want to be my friend? Corvus
Okay, to answer the original question I will tell you a very simple rule of thumb for these sorts of issues:If you need to ask if its legal, chances are its not legal or atleast its a really stupid thing to do. Not sure what the laws are where you are but in the US it would most likely be classified as Criminal Mischief of some sort. Dizzle229
I'm pretty sure in the US obstructing an entrance to a store is a crime. Also, this is like pursuing revenge against the library because you couldn't be asked to renew your library card. Get back here so I can rub your butt. Kaida23
Just as an FYI, I looked it up and barricading the door like that would be at least criminal mischief. Under section 387 of the Canadian Criminal Code: (1) Every one commits mischief who wilfully a) destroys or damages property,b) renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective,c) obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, ord) obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property. highlanders
Seems like the padlock part of it is the problem. So directly coat the handle with honey? Just thinking out loud :P a) destroys or damages property (makes the property sticky? L) b) renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective, (nope still can open door) c) obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, or (still can use store) d) obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property. (well definitively "interferes" with the "enjoyment" of the handle L) 2480+ total
Kaida23
I think that would be considered vandalism at the very least. Either way, I still wouldn't recommend it. TTanT
For one, if you're THIS angered over being slown down when getting booze there's a good chance you're an alcoholic. I'd do some serious thinking about your priorities. Also, even if what you do isn't illegal, doing it is going to ensure you never have an easy time in that store again. The other employees will dislike you (especially whoever gets to clean the door), and the owner might decide to refuse you service. This mentality of "I think she's rude so I'll punish her" is not only childish but also the source of most of this world's problems.A dictator has a similar thought process when he declares war on another country, as do some murderers and the like.Obviously this is a lot less bad that murder, but it's still stupidly immature. In short: Grow up and learn to deal with people annoying you. It's going to happen your entire life, and success comes from learning how to take it in stride rather than moping about it. The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.[hide=Tifers say the darndest things]I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.I would laugh, not hate. I'm a male. :(Since when was Ireland an island...? :wall:I actually have a hobby of licking public toilet seats.[/hide]
Guest Rob
If this is how you react to everyday problems I'm surprised you're old enough to buy alcohol. Calm down, get your ID renewed and have a little bit of patience. It's probably company policy to not accept expired IDs since they're much harder to verify and therefore easier to forge. You're blowing it far out of proportion. And I'd be shocked if there weren't cameras outside of the LCBO. Is it really worth it?

obfuscator
ITT: Immature kid can't accept responsibility for his own failures. No. Don't "get revenge" on someone who was just doing their job because you couldn't bother to get your ID renewed. xSxqPowerx
I was going to suggest that you report her behaviour through the appropriate channel by contacting a manager or something at the store. But then I read the thread - she's in the right.
Randox
Locking this thread, because tif is not a place for people to discuss the potential leglality of their revenge schemes when they get mad at someone for doing their job, rather than doing you a favor that would mean risking their job and a huge fine, as well as a potential criminal record. And for the record, yes, vandalism actually is illegal, and would result in criminal charges and a record, as well as some potential embarrassing news coverage if the media is having a slow day. I am also locking this because once everyone is done introducing the OP to reality, the only place left for this thread to go is up in flames, and I think we can safely skip that step.
