i agree yesterday this guy just kept auto typeing ill buy that top to this person who was just sat making fires she said nfs and he wouldnt stop (very annoying) and my sister went to the experiments to train 4 pures came round calling her names and some other stuff i cant mension

Not always true. About a year ago I played a game called A Tale in the Desert. Pretty much everyone was nice, and that was about two years after its release. I came back a few weeks ago just to see how everything was doing; the people were still nice. But, the game is so complicated (mining in itself is complicated; you have to mine ores, and have to distinguish which minerals contain which metals, and then refine these minerals in a forge. And thats not the most complicated thing; making tools is extremely complex. you actually have to shape them with tools, and the more accurate you get it the better the tool is) , tedious, and sometimes downrigh boring and repetitive, that I definatly see why the immature little kiddies steer clear from it. In fact, that game is so boring in some of its apsects, everybody in the game auto's and the staff dosen't really care; it's not aganst the rules. I actually enjoyed it for about a year, but mainly because there were so many nice people to talk to. The boredom + mind numbing complications eventually got to me, though. RuneScape is like the average MMORPG. It is actually fun, and pretty simple in most of its aspects. So it attracts the bratty kids that beg for free stuff that we hate so much. The only way to drive them away is to make the game more complicated, and drive up the boredom factor.

*shrugs* Had some moron call me a noob the other day just for standing around and ignoring him. Was doing a large rune chest puzzle and didn't really wanna be bothered, but every time I would get on to do a puzzle... I was bound to get one person that just had to attempt to engage a conversation with me. Even when I made it obvious that I just wanted to be left alone and have some peace and quiet.

From what I've seen its getting a bit better. I've spent all week slaying fire giants in the waterfall, and I have had no arrows stolen, no archers throw out the random "Arrow stealing noob!" when you walk on the same space as the monster, more people closing the doors, more "ty"s for closing them,less monster stealing, and more running when you accidentally do steal one, and I have only heard the word "noob" used once all week.

I wouldn't judge the whole community based on one person. Is it any surprise that there are idiots who play runescape? Not to me at least. Don't take one example, generalize it, and then think because of this one example the whole community is going downhill. There have been people like him since runescape started. It's just that since there are so many people playing, you have so many more of a percentage of idiots.

Fact: Runescape has the best community filters I have personally experienced as yet.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So if the people are starting to get to you, use the ignore list! Use your friends list! Use the Private Chat off Function! If you want an assured enjoyable multiplayer experience with no hassels, have some rl friends around for some console action. Otherwise you are just going to have to realise that the community on runescape is going to ruin your gaming experience sometimes, be prepared for it, and do your best to enjoy the game as much as you can despite the lamers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Truly sorry for the rant guys, but it just seems so reasonable that the community is never going to improve if people don't start taking a proactive approach rather than just whinging when others don't behave in a way that is not perceived as detrimental to their runescape experience.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And on that matter of ranting, shouldn't this thread be in the rants forum? Seeing all these community rants in the general and general p2p forums is really starting to bum me out.

yea, some people are extremely mean but theres some people, like my friend fyrefaery2, who are some of the nicest ppl ive ever met

A good community is where people that are new are seen as "needing help" instead of "being crap". Once that is achieved, your community will prosper, with the teachings the high levellers pass down.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I also see a good community as a place where trading is not full of people trying to scam etc.

Everyone will tell you to ignore them, but when it's at such a stage that you spend more time on your ignore list than on task I can see why you've lost hope.

I hate to see the word noob misused but it simply cannot be helped. The guy who started misusing noob when scamming, hackling, or killing someone led that person to do the same to the people and it just went in a chain and it's really out of control. It's like Martin Luther King Jr. against violence..it'll never die. To many ignoran people. To think some of the people that be calling other noobs are actually high lvls and/or aren't little kids and are actually in highschool and have jobs. Sad...

Just the other day I saw a lvl 15 call a lvl 123 a noob because the 123 didnt want to buy his 30 lobbies. :shock:

it seems like (and i have nothing against hte country) its alot of american teens who's balls started to drop who r the biggest noobs. im sitting there raising range on my pure. i ask this guy his range lv. alrite being the nice person i am i said he was wasting histime here cause his range was to low( at lessers) this lv 60 started saying noob ur the lowest of us all and it started off from there. i get shiat like this around 2 times at day on average. but ya the comunitty has died fromteh increase in morons playing. i havnt played rsc when it originaly came out so i wouldnt kno much about it. but it makes me laugh on the ignorance of ppl these days. but the chat buttons r ur freinds remember that
