Any idea how it will work, like how much exp per day it will give a boost to, any limit on skills, it cant just be 50% more exp everyday with no cap can it?

If it worked like the last festive aura promotion, then you'll be able to activate the aura once a day to gain a 50% exp boost for one hour or up to 50k exp whichever happens sooner.

Sorry to kinda steal your thread, but I didn't claim the aura last Christmas, how do I claim it this year? I've tried the snow imps and they don't say anything about it.

What about strategy for using it, if it is only good for a half hour or hour a day, then using it on a skill like Divination, doesnt seem to maximize the bonus since that is like 30K per hours exp, so that bonus if it works for half an hour would only be 15K instead of the full 50K cap.  Or do you not think of it this way and should only use it on the slowest skill..

 

Or is it something like use this on the slowest skil that approximates getting the 50K cap in the allotted time period, whether that be an hour or half an hour???

You could buy energies to convert for extra div exp for a small boost and finish off with something quick like prayer at the end to avoid wasting any bonus if that's what you mean.

You should do a skill that's as close as possible to 200k xp/hour, but not more than that in order to maximize productive and allocative efficiency.

I only have 6 non 99 skils, Range, Agility, Div, construction, Hunter, and Thief

Go with thieving then. Try to lamp divination and agility.

 

Just to clarify Hedgehog's statement: it's true because xp lamps for all skills award equal xp, and that is the 'to beat' xp rate for most skills. If you aren't dealing with lamps/dailies/other bonus xp, it doesn't matter which skill you work on, provided it's not over 200k xp/h clean (incl. moneymaking).

I was under the impression that the aura was 2x bxp this year instead of the 50%. I used it on divination the first day, and say I got 10 xp base, I was getting 30 xp with aura + bonus xp. Which would imply 2x base xp. Which means that they 200k/hr moves down to 100k/hr does it not?

If you got 30xp from Divination it was because your bonus XP reserves activated first, then the aura worked on that. It's still a 50% bonus.

Yep, so your 10 base gets doubled to 20 then turned into 30 by the aura.

I had a weird one with aura today 15xp (5xp bonus); only boost active was aura

It seems to proc off of any bonus exp that you have. For instance I'm doing it for construction and it should be 120 mahogany tables to hit ~100 k exp to get my bonus 50 k, but wearing my constructor with god chisel I only have to make 113 tables.

So someone posted on reddit that you should use the aura on your slowest skill for the first ~25 minutes, then do a fast skill to use up the remainder in the last 5 minutes to maximize your gains.  

 

Why is it that you say 200k/hr is best? As long as you gain the full xp doesn't it save the same amount of time? 

 

EDIT: I realized that this only holds true if you can use the instant xp on a skill that is slower then 200k/hr. IE making sea singers gear.

Allocative efficiency increases as you approach 200k/hour whereas productive efficiency is constant.
