ScubaZteve
Well i didnt know whether i should put this in General, or General P2P so i just stuck it here. Well i'm really disgraced with what i saw today from f2p. It is really true what they say. Well today i introduced my cousin to runescape and he fell in love it watching him trying to make money and wanting armor made me mourn for the days when i was a "noob". So with this in mind i decided to go around runescape helping people out and giving them free stuff. I cooked some food for people, i gave out some iron and mith (to anyone who didnt beg ;)), and did other little various helpful things. Well after doing all this, i still wasnt satisfied and while looking through my bank i decided to throw a drop party. It wasnt the best party in the world, but it had some decent items (Rune legs, some addy (g), a bunch of bows and arrows left over from fletching, some cash, etc.)but to most of them that really was a lot. So i go around most of the f2p world with people behind me yelling drop party for me, and eventually i get a good 50 people following me. So i goto a big house in falador and procede to drop a bunch of things. For about 5 minutes i dropped a bunch of things and a lot of people got something, but there was those who didnt get anything. Flaming, screaming, calling me a nood and scammer, but there was still those who werent flaming who didnt get anything, and i felt bad for those people. So i run to the bank and get a bunch of cakes and beers, and some cash. I give everyone some, and 1 or 2k each. So as i'm doing this i'm getting swamped by trades, and as i look at them they are the poeple i already gave money to. After i'm done giving out the stuff and cash to everyone (about 30 people), i tell them to not take advantage of the free gold and not to be greedy. And it all goes bad from here. I am flamed from un-belief. Everyone starts calling me a nood and reporting me for not giving them more money (I made sure i got EVERYONE), then as i'm heading back to the bank, theres a good lot of people in front of falador, and everyone out there is calling me a scammer, and telling me to give back these news items, when i was GIVING OUT items. So i just proceded to log off, but now i am questioning if i'm going to banned for this, i know since i didnt do anything against the rules i have no reason to be banned, but there was probally around 20-30 who reported me. Let me just say, i'm not going to try and do something nice for people/f2p newbs on runescape again. Rsn: Scuba10
Dilts36
dude. this is why you dont help people. because people always think your scamming and i really doubt you will get banned because normally people are too stupid to report people and then generally do it too late bc there is only like a 30second delay! when i was reading this, i was like... hell maybe i should go out and help people, thanks for changing my mind. kwimbob
Yep... the community really stinks sometimes.... (usually....) Combat 116+; Total 1900+; All Hard Tasks; (Nearly) All quest points; (Nearly) All skills 60+; An aquatic moose ninja.Currently: Using 63 hunter to get some of those "Chins", then I'm going to range stuff down. Interruptions of agility when I feel like it, as well. And lucky enough to get 4 Dragon and 6 Barrow Drops.[hide]Kwimbob now looks exactly like me in real life except for hair color. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait. When I'm sleepy - nothing is of any priority in front of sleep. But at any other time, I never slow down. Never give up. Never Surrender. Denismage
No, you are not going to be banned for that. People always complain because they did not get something. (I'm a rare kind - not complaining about not getting something kind) :)
ShadowSam19
when i was reading this, i was like... hell maybe i should go out and help people, thanks for changing my mind. Don't let this entirely turn you away from charitable giving, rather, take it as a warning. Yelling "drop party" to the beggars of f2p runescape, though more efficent, isnt the best way to give out free stuff, and definetly isn't a way to give stuff to deserving people. Instead, look for low lvl non begging people who are playing the game the way it is supposed to be played, and reward them for it. They will be thankful, and most likely won't expect more, or report you.
hiddel
jagex isnt stupid. they will not ban anyone or give them a black mark unless they are able to provide that player with proof that they are guilty. since you arent guilty there is not proof and all the people who reported you will more than likely have action taken against them for seding in false reports. =)

I recently went on a spree giving out some iron armor i made to train smithing, and gave it to one such person who actually declined saying he wasnt able to pay for it, even though i had already accepted and he was going to get it free. After i explained that he was free, he thanked me, but didnt follow me begging for free stuff, or follow up with "Add friend pl0x?". I was truly amazed at his attitude, and have thus stopped doubting the new community. You may think that there are nothing but trouble makers out there, but thats because the decent ones are too busy playing the right way to bother you. Peronix
That just about says it. If you feed the ferocious animals at the zoo, you get your hand bit off. 3P0int0
Feed the newbies not the noobs (very big difference) and keep it quiet don't go around yelling "Drop party!" just hand some stuff out, when they hear "drop party" they expect millions to be dropped on every square in the building, you should have known this it's one of the risks of playing for a couple of more months then they have... Also I really, really, really! don't like people talking about a bad community in rs. I believe that the percentage of bad apples is the same as it was in rsc it's only amplified by the huge amount of people playing. I've played since '02 and haven't seen any difference (although I'm sure someone who finds the need to argue from '01 is going to say it went downhill from there)
Wyvern53
You won't get banned because of a bunch of noob cakes flamming and reporting you becuase they're too lazy to get their own stuff while living down in the bottomless dregs of society, all the while having some slef deciency and stupidness to ask someone who's having a drop party for free stuff. :D I usually go to Lumbridge and get 100 Anti-Dragon Shields and a few thousand coins and giving new people fresh off Tutorial Island an Anti-Dragon and 500 coins. trunksrs
Ya, I dont do things that big. Usually whenever im done a slayer assignment, I go to lumby and log ont a f2p server (lumby is a good place cause I catch a few brand new players, and I'm on y way to lost city anyway), and start giving out stuff or dropping it. I get this kinda stuff all the time. Well, they don't flame me or anything, cause I make sure to keep it small, but still, the get really greedy and stuff. Jagex will review the reports before banning you, they will see you were being helpful and not scamming. Look, if your mom still drops you off at school, you ain't gangsta, pull up your damn pants!3 down, 7 to go

sb23
Same thing happened to me, around christmas... i was bored, so i decided to take like 5 sets of rune. I took them to varrock around the christmas tree and told everybody i was going to drop, and gathered quite a few people. I then proceded to drop all the rune and some other stuff. After it was over i told everybody to have a merry christmas and then i had like 30 people private messege me saying they were going to report me because they didn't get anything. Talk about lame... Nicolae2099
I've just about given up hope entirely for the community. The other day I ran into an arrow stealer (which didn't bother me, especially since they were iron :-P) but I saw that he went over to another ranger and just sat there waiting to steal more arrows. I went over to warn the other ranger that his arrows might get stolen when he asked me "Wat arrows n00b?" and then ran off laughing and repeating "n00b". I know there are a lot of good people on runescape though. I just can't hardly ever find them. Now I'm proud to say I'm a member of WoW :-D So far I love that community. It's worth the extra $$ each month not to be constantly flamed.

Kostya
This is why charity isn't on my list of "Things I like to do on Runescape". I mean, I might give something to my friends, but not to random strangers who'll call me a n00b if I don't give them full dragon. And no, you're not going to get banned. ;)
