Best way to get Dragon Chain?

Featured Replies

There's really 3 ways of getting Dragon chain which people think are the best.

1) Dust Devils

2) Soloing the KQ

3) Double teaming the KQ

I'm going to compare the 3 methods and find which IMO is the best.

I'm going to assume the drop rates for Dragon Chain are 1/12500 off dust devils and 1/200 off KQ.

Dust Devils Vs Soloing the KQ

Soloing the KQ costs aproximatly 75k PER queen, an aful lot, each queen takes: 4 Minutes of walks from Shanty, 2 Minutes of Walking TO Shanty from tele spots, and about 5 minutes actualy killing it (That's assuming you kill 2 per trip) That's a total of 11 Minutes PER queen.

In that time I can kill roughly 25 Dust Devils. (Bit less than 30 seconds per) so That's 25 Dust Devils PER kalphite queen, that means if I kill 200 Kalphite Queens to get a chain, that'll be roughly 5000 Dust Devils, which means that I'll get 5 chains for 2 Chains off Dust devils. That's 1000 Kalphite Queens, Which will cost a staggering 75M for 110M, 35M Profit. Dust Devils cost LESS than 50gp per using bones to peaches, So killing the 25K dust devils will cost only 12.5M for 44M profit of 32.5M, 2.5M less than that off KQs. But in that time You'll have gotten a hell of a lot more Combat XP off Dusties. IMO this is pretty close, and It'd come down to what other drops, You'd get far more drops off dusties thus they'd have a high total but the KQ can drop d2hs, and at 4M a pop it's not bad.

Dust Devils Vs. Soloing the KQ = Even, Maybe soloing is better.

Soloing the KQ Vs. Teaming the KQ (With 2 people)

Teaming the KQ with 2 people, will cost LESS than half that of that soloing it. So about 25k per trip. And it takes LESS than half as long per KQ (2 people, more damage quicker and only in one trip) so Basicly for every 5 Chains you get while teaming you'll only get 2 solo.

At 25k per, You'll spend aprox 5M per chain, and 25M for 110M/2 = 55M, 30M profit. And while Soloing at 75k per, You'll spend 30M on getting just 2 chains for 44M, that's ONLY 14M profit, less than half that while teaming.

Soloing Vs Teaming - Teaming wins, by a wide margain.

Overall - Teaming > Solo > Dusties

Aprox 12.5 > 5 > 2 Chains

75M > 35M > 32.5M in Profit,

Anyway, I made this because I was having a discussion with my friend about which is a better way of getting it. Of course these calculation are assuming you're gaurneteed a chain every 200 or 12000, but that's really the best way to compare it and it's not taking into account any other drops or XP.

I'm teaming the kq right now for cash. How often does she drop the chain?

I think it's 1/200, it seems right to me although you may get one after 1, or may go over 1000 without one.

Well, i killed less than 20 KQ's and got chain drop, but i was due a dragon drop after being member 9 months plus...and no drop, Im proud to say Chain was first drop :D, and dragon 2h is my secound :D

It's been said by alot of 90+ slayers that I ask that dragon chainbody can be dropped by the Dark Beasts, which I'm pretty sure is true. I haven't killed enough to prove this myself yet so I wouldn't include it (also not enough people have 90+ slayer for it to matter anyway).

I've NEVER heard ANYONE mention that, EVER.

Call it luck, but the first time i ever went kalphite with a team we got a chain... my 2 real life friends they are twins irl... we all went with veracs and one brother got a chain... he was so rich and i was poor yet he didnt tell me (this was when chains were 35 mill) anyways he hid it from me and his real life brother and we found out 2 months later so i made him give me 15 mill

You forgot to divide the profits from teaming in half since you split the chain with your partner.

No I didn't.

New sigzor^^

Was it ever disputed that teaming the Kalphite Queen was more efficient than soloing it, and both of them were more efficient that killing Dust Devils? ;/

whoops misread the drop rates, ignore this post.

If I was teaming the KQ with a friend, I would just keep going until I get one, and then I would wear it and give the second one we get to my friend, or vice-versa. That way I would be like "woot I got a dragon chain!"

My friend thought that soloing the KQ was better to do that teaming it and I know lots of other people who will only solo the KQ because they believe it to be better.

chain of dds is rarer than 1/16k because jagex said its rarer than med from fire giant

who sad med from fire gigs was 1/10000?

4 peoples list is NOT enough to get an Accurate value, it's basicly impossible to get one.

The way I've used my values is that the chance of getting a chain off Dusties is 1/60th that of the chance of getting it off Kalphite Queen, which is probably roughly the right Ratio.

i can vouch that dark beasts dont drop chain.. when i got 90 slayer i killed almost 3k of them and got a drg med on like my second to last trip... dark beasts are comapeable to the black dragons of rsc.... they take long to kill, they drop total crap, and are worthless to go to

I think it's 1/200, it seems right to me although you may get one after 1, or may go over 1000 without one.

i always took those ratio/fractions as the smallest form...

but in reality it could be 5:1k where they arent evenly spaced...

also, would those numbers be with r/w or w/o it?

Meh Ever since ive started to play runescape ive NEVER had a dragon drop, 4+years and drop dragon drop, 200+ kq's and no chains, But the other day I got a d2h but it wasnt my drop .

Quit runescape...

lucky for the people that got it after 1 to 5 kills lol i was around during both safe spots and killed over 300 and spent over 5m -.- lol and never got 1 and its true u cant get it after 1 kill my friend went down there to try and solo it and he sees a team tele with the queen half dead and he finishes it and gets a chain lol. O and btw soloing the queen is no easy task... lol good luck killing 2 per trip tho :) i use to get winned by the [bleep]es :P lol i could prolly kill 1-2 tho if i wasnt banned :\

522 to 99 slayer
