Hi everyone, I used to be a pretty avid RS fan until I quit during the summer of 2004. I guess I just burned out and felt like I had reached a point where I wasn't having fun anymore just doing the same old boring stuff. I haven't really kept up with RS that much over the past 20 or so months, but the other day I got a strange urge to start playing again and I purchased a 3 month subscription that will last me until I report to boot camp at the end of June. I logged in today and started playing for the first time in what seems like forever and I can't tell you how overwhelmed I am by all the new additions. Farming and slayer are completely new to me, and most of the world map makes no sense to me. To give you some perspective, I quit around the time player moderators were first introduced.

 

 

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily complaining about this...I just think it's a bit overwhelming. If anyone has any advice as to what I should try out over the next 3 months it would be greatly appreciated, because right now I have no idea where I want to start (other than selling my purple phat, which cost me 3 million gp when I bought it) :D .

You should probably try some of the new quests. recipe for disaster gives some nice rewards. wanted! will also give you 5k slayer xp, boosting you to about lvl 20, if you want to try that skill out. I myself find farming useless, and leave tears of guthix to level that a bit weekly.

I haven't played RuneScape ever since I lost my membership in January. A lot of people began to play this game and it's getting more popular. But I would rather play Conquer Online...attacking people anywhere is a great addition unlike RuneScape. RS community is growing but all the scammers and hackers out there are corrupting nice players and they become what they hate and blah-blah. One thing I like about the game I play know is that your Account ID is differnt than your in-game name so it reduces the chance of you getting hacked randomly by someone guessing your password. But yeah RS is getting popular -.-

your phat price have more than 20x, so don't sell yourself cheap!

this game has gotten HUGE!

 

i started runescape back in the day when it just started, And im still not that good, because i quit for 12 months and another 7months. i PLayed back when there were 4 severs.. and it was very hard to join one, because the game was always so busy. now. there is like 6.5m register accounts, witch if you ask me, is ALOT! and Over 600k members X $5=$3,000,000.00 a month :-P. hehe. thats alot of money to ANYONE. hopefully jagex keeps putting there money back into the game, and from the looks of it, they have. But yes, the game has gotten HUGE. and i cant Wait for RS3. oO. hehe. maybe they will come out with a bunch of new skills. :-P.

 

I think they tryed to make Farming hard to lvl, but all these people who play rune over 6 hours a day can make out a skill easy.

Good speed? I HATE IT! Jagex decided it's okay to advertise and it made the population huge...I don't hate that but I hate the fact that all worlds basically all have 1200+ players at a time. I like the small worlds =(

Glad to have you back, lucky you to buy a purple phat :P Yeah, the population is growing ALOT, as mentioned. However, I believe there is roughly 121 worlds? So 121*1200=145,000 people playing at a time. :shock:

what country are you going to get sent to?

i'd do all the quests possible, like the ressipe for disaster and all the sub quests for that. then i'd deside if i was ever coming back to rs. if i was i'd keep the phat, if i wasnt i'd sell it and enjoy the moneys...

 

 

 

btw, slayer can make you some good money

I felt very much the same when I restarted on runescape (I quit when there's 3 servers). Since your time is limited, I recommend doing all the quests, play in all the minigames, and just enjoy your stay. With that phat sold, you'll have plenty of money to mess around with, so don't get too hang up with making money or training stats. Try out each of the barrow armors. Explore the world!

 

 

 

Just enjoy yourself, I recommend castle war if you haven't play it yet.

Congrats to you as well. I spent 9 years in the Marines my last 3 as a recruiter. I pray you are going to san diego for boot camp as paris island is really humid and the sand fleas super annoying in the summer.

 

 

 

To ensure your easy passing through boot camp.

 

 

 

*never be the last one out of the room.

 

 

 

* do everything with speed and intenisty.

 

 

 

*Sound off very loud when spoken to by your drill intructor.

 

 

 

*Study your Knowledge making sure you memorize your general orders.

 

 

 

as a matter of fact dude, that book you got from your recruiter is the most important thing you have right now. Study it religiosly until you know all of it.

 

 

 

Get outside now and run. Make sure you re doing at least 5-10 pull ups before you go. You dont want to take the chance of getting dropped back for being a weak body.

 

 

 

If you can, get 2 of your friends to sign up as well so you get your meritorious promotion to pfc before you ship.

 

 

 

Youll get paid as a Pfc for the entire length of basic training, and your career will be fast tracked. Also if you kick but in boot campyou have the oppurtunity to get Lance Corporal...putting you ahead of your peers.

When you sell you phat, remember 20 months ago 9/10 people in World 2 didn't used to be scammers. Now they are.

Before this gets out of control, let me just say that I'm not going to be a Marine. I'm going Army and I'm going to USMA (West Point) boot camp on June 26th. Thank you though to the Marines that posted, I know a few Marines and from what I can see you guys are a classy, dedicated bunch of guys. I would join the Marines but I really want to go Airborne, and you can only do that in the Army. If they hadn't taken me, believe me, Marines were my second choice.

 

 

 

Back to RS, thanks to everyone for the ideas, out of the two new skills (farming and slayer) which one do you think is the best to do in the next 3 months? And has theiving changed at all since I left? I used to be a really hardcore theif (lvl 80).

to put it in perspective, when i started playing this game 3 years ago, the most players i ever saw on at one time has 5000, then it slowly moved up to 10000. Then RS2 came out and it rose exponitially to the level you see today. There are over 3 million active Runescape accounts, and over 600k members (600k time 5 bucks a month= $30,000,000 :twisted: ) Runescape is the 3rd largest MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game)!
