OK, let me begin:

 

 

 

About 5 months ago, I saved my wagon off to get 5 Million gps to buy my always desired full Dharok armor. It took me about 2 weeks to get it, fishing sharks, woodcutting Magics, even selling my whip!

 

 

 

When I finally got it, I was incredibly happy, and my day couldn't get worse. Now, as I am going for my 85 Slayer goal, I noticed how everytime at the Gargoyles, or others hard Slayer monsters, people were always wearing Guthan armor. When I found out about the leeching special, I thought Hey! I could really use this! After checking the prices (12Million gp), I was bummed. How was I ever going to make this kind of money? I had just spent 3 Million I had on another Whip, because I really missed it. So I didn't want to sell it again offcourse.

 

 

 

After alot of hard thinking and considering, I decided to sell my Dharoks. I got a nice 5.2 Million gp of it, and I hope I made the guy I sold it to as happy as when I first got it. So now I had about 6 Million. I fished sharks for 3 days, and sold 2k of em, OK great, 4 Million to go!

 

 

 

I cleaned out my bank, sold 5 Granite Mauls, alot of Adamant boots, some rune stuff, also alched just about everything I couldn't sell, and I now had 10 Million gp. It was really cool to see the 9000k change into 10M btw :)

 

 

 

Hmm, I was so close! Then I noticed I still had alot of runes in my bank that I would never use, including 65k Fire runes from my days camping at the dusties, 1.5k chaos runes, 700 Death runes, etc. So now I had 11.4Mil

 

 

 

I was thrilled! I had finally got it! So I head to falador world 2, and start shouting: Buying full Guthans! Buying full Guthans! Ok, somebody trades me, I offer my 11.4Mil. Turns out the prices were 11.9Mil.. Ok Ok no problem, let's check the bank and see if I have any items that I can include in the deal. I check, hey! 5 Lava battlestaffs! I figured, yeah, this could definitly get it.

 

 

 

So, I head back and start shouting again. Nobody trades. I saw a guy shouting Selling full guthan!! So I trade. He doesn't show anything, so I click decline and ask: Guthan? He says: Offer. Ok so I put up my 11.4Mil and 5 Lava battlestaffs, he puts up his Guthans, and clicks accept. I carefully check, Guthan Helm, Guthan Body, Guthan Chainskirt, Guthan Warspear. (The warspear was in the first position) So I click accept, and click accept in the second screen. I put it on, W00T I look so cool! I go to the nearest training spot. (The lessers in Taverly dungeon). I go there, I start killing them. Hmm, this spear is so weak? Is this normal? I decided to put it on aggressive, maybe I can hit more like that.

 

 

 

And there it is.. LEAF BLADED SPEAR..

 

 

 

I can't believe I just got scammed 5mil.. Well, I guess this is another warning, make sure you take all the time you need to check the 2nd screen. I've shut off my Client, and decided to stop playing for a while, until I calm myself down.

Sorry to hear about your loss but it's really not the end of the world, just another scammer, I tend to stay away from buying anything nowadays :lol: .

That is the best suggestion I have ever heard in 4 months of reading this forum.

some one tried that on me, got them on the 2nd screen and declined

 

10 minutes later when im still trying to buy it, he trades again...still can't think why, and blow me down, he tries a third time about 10 minutes after that, this doesn't switch spears, but declines anyway, wasted a lot of my time.

I know how it feels, got scammed out of a whip (Changed it from 4M to 40004 gp or something, realised a second too late and couldn't hit decline in time (I'd already accepted when I noticed)

I feel your pain but making slayer items untradeable would only prevent this single aspect of scamming which is hardly a large group. I DO feel bad for you but the 2nd trade screen is there for a reason. If people want you to rush then it most likely is for a bad reason. I literally take a minute to trade, double check any math involved, then do the same on the second screen. If they don't want to trade at my pace I take my gp elsewhere. :wink:

that was probably this kid at my school... he told me he scamms like that. but i cant report him because you cant report item switch scamming =/ thats why theres a 2nd window..

I know I know I should have checked the 2nd screen, and it's really foolish of me.. But I was just so excited, I saved up so much and so long, I just wanted to put it on..

I now have decided to imagine that full Guthans without the spear is wort 12m, and that I have to make another 5m for the spear, this way I'm not dissapointed. :)

scammers will try a similiar thing by switching Ahirms top or bottom with a similiar looking robe. I was soooo close to clicking accept when i caught it. and declined.

Yeah... it sucks to get burned like that. But this scam is extremely well known. I haven't even been playing the game (let alone have any intrest in barrows stuff)... and even I know of it.

 

 

 

This is simply just another "buyer beware" post. As if there weren't enough of them already. It just doesn't seem to sink into anyone's head.

 

 

 

Its great that you had enough common sense to check the first screen. A shame that you didn't have enough to check the second.

 

 

 

Just use this as a learning experience, and try not to get overjoyed next time until after the correct items are in your possession.

Oh and btw you lost 6mil , since i sold my spear for 6mil yesterday :oops:

The same thing happened to me. Got full guthan with a leafbladed spear. Was also wondering why I wasn't regenerating at the kalphites.

 

 

 

I just gave up on full guthan. I still have the armour, but not the weapon. Instead I learned the bones-to-peaches spell. Sometimes it is just as good.

 

 

 

I guess I could buy one guthan spear if I sold some stuff, but I can't be bothered anymore.

Yea dont get too excited about buying a good item...a lot of people, including myself, have gotten scammed because we were too quick to accept what we thought was a good deal :evil:
