I agree fully with jwrm22 on this one. It's a really falty rule adn needs to be changed. Plus if you wanna waste the time multi-logging why don't they just watch the interactions between the chars and ban them if the trade illegally.

I think (and hope) you only get banned if you interact, and even that should be allowed if u ask me :P but it's difficult to prevent people from abusing the system otherwise...

if you do get banned make a petition, I'm sure a lot of ppl would sign it :P

Well me and my two brothers are on a Netgear router and have been for 2 years we interact with each other and trade whip's for our little brother Jagex has had no problem with us so far!

I mean we have given him 5mil each for easter this year and befor that on his birthday even more and we are fine, no offence to anyone who has been banned for multi login but jagex don't just give you ban's for using 2 accounts on the same I.P and trading between them they know that there are people using routers and they can tell that you are it dose make it harder for them to tell if you are braking rules, But they do have very good reasons for banning people and yes somtimes they are wrong like we all are!

Silver: not flaming you at all, but IP stands for Internet Protocol. :D

Back to topic: Ok here is how it works. (PS If you doubt my credentials for making this claim, I repair computers at a company. I am the head honcho for anything Technical. We have a network too. It employs about a 513 people.)Basically your computers have different ip's until they go into ur router. There the ip's of your computers are discarded (not literally) and the ip of the router is adapted. Then when the cable (dsl, cable, t1, t3) gets to the company's mainframe, the IP of the mainframe is adapted. Basically, I think Jagex looks at your computer ip, not anything else. If this were the case, you guys would be fine.[ Just to be sure tho. pm me for a site that helps you check. (I am not sure if it is in the rules to do this. If it is not, please just take it out. I really don't know. I don't want to be ip banned 8) )]

Hope this clears up this muddy problem.

They'd find you when there are 2 or more accounts logged from the same IP.

I'd say that you might safely test it: Just log in from a computer, then log again and write the IP that you can read there. Then do the same and compare. If they are the same, Jagex is reading the router's IP (and you shouldn't play at the same time), but if they are different, you are safe. (under my point of view).

use aol - they never block aol's ips because so many people share the same ip. unfourtunatly this means people multilog on aol too, but you will never be ip-banned on aol

16. Multiple RuneHQ forum accounts are not allowed. You may only have one RuneHQ forum account per person and one person per forum account, unless you have permission from the admins of the site. You may not share a single forum account with multiple people! We track IP's so we know for the most part when people do this. We realize there are homes with multiple users and we will make sure we do not restrict homes with multiple people from each having an account, but we will figure it out eventually if you are trying to pull a fast one. Your account on RuneHQ can be BANNED for this type of behavior.

Just because you have the same internet provider means nothing... (not what ip stands for anyways). My brother, sister, and I all play rs and regularly trade with eachother, because all 3 of our computers have different ip addresses. (on a network as well)

lol

these are the rules for runehq's forums. they have nothing to do with runescape's rules. runescape's rules say you can have as many accounts as you want, just no multiple logging on

Not true, ip stands for internet provider (I think), so they have the same ip address, unless you use different internet providers.

not true. if ip stood for internet provider, then almost everyone would be banned for logging in multaple times like aol, they have over 1 million users and you dont see mass bans of people using aol, do you? your ip address is unique to every computer and can be used to track 1 single computer, it has nothing to do with your internet connection. just look, have your brother sign on 1 computer, logg off, logg back on again and in the opening window it will say the ip of the last computer you logged in on. then do this with your other comp and note the ips are diffrent

(excuse my spelling plz)[/b]

I've had friends playing and there's been no problems, but I do know of a lot of people who were mistakenly banned like that.
