Barihawk
Ladies and Gentlemen, free player or subscriber: Yesterday, Java Gaming Experts released an update to thwart autoing at the rune essence. In this way, they have restricted free essence to the 6 basic runes that can be made in the free game, and pure essence that can be crafted into any rune. I am seeing topics all over these boards: "The economy is ruined! F2P economy is gone! P2P runecrafting is ruined!" are all too familiar topics we have seen in the past 24 hours. However, did Wall Street know the full implications of the Stock Exchange Crash in the early 1920's? Surely not after only 24 hours! To me, this is gross overreaction. Free players state that the majority of thier essence customers are Members. Members claim that high-level crafting is finished because the supply is gone. I have a solution for each of these groups. Some may say they are mean or cruel, but to this I must say "go eat cake". To the people of the free worlds! You claim that members will no longer buy your essence, but that is not true! Zezima himself went from 84 to 99 Runecrafting on FIRE runes! Not to mention that Ancient Mages and Ahrim's users require the beneficial AIR rune to power our missile spells (naysayers assume that every mage in Runescape uses the staff of air). Eath and water runes are needed for snares and curses, a major aspect of P2P PKing! We need mind runes for our Slayer Darts in the Barrows (which seems to be driving a major aspect of the P2P economy!) and body runes for curses! You see, Free Players, P2P NEEDS YOUR ESSENCE! More importantly, I ask that you endeavor not only to mine essence, but convert it into these 6 basic runes and sell them to Suscribing Players! Without your basic help, the magic industry would be crippled! To the People of the Suscribing Worlds: You claim that your supply of essence has completely run out, that you are too "lazy" to mine your own essence. Well then, you forget just where that essence came from: players desperate for money! Even in the suscribing worlds, I see beggars and poor folk. Instead of telling them "Get away from me n00b!", why not ask them if they would like a job! With the thousands of low-levelled members desperate for GP, we can create a new essence pool for the high-levelled runes! In addition, many of you scoff at the prospect of mining your own essence. Why?! Have you not built up your other skills one click at a time? Or have you just been lazy, buying materials from others and relying on others to increase your skills? NO FURTHER! I have mined my own essence and ores, gotten my own cowhides, and gained other materiel for myself in my two years playing Runescape. My non-combat skills may not be 99, but I chose to enjoy the game and make what was needed. You people seem so uppity in your quest for money and experience that you have become reliant on the work of others! When did you think the bottom was going to drop out? What if the doomsayers are right, and soon there are "pure logs" or "pure tin ore"...You will be up the proverbial creek without a paddle. So I ask each P2P member to stop relying solely on markets and other's blood and sweat. I ask each of you to start gaining materials for yourself. Not only will you notice a major decrease in your pocketbook, but you will note an increase as well! So in conclusion, I have presented some fairly unpopular ideas that can see us through this whole essence situation without bringing about a GP crash or party hats raining from the sky or something terrible of that nature. I don't ask that you actually follow these concepts, but at least know that there is an option for you instead of coming to these forums and making 27 topics about "JAGEX SCREWED ME!!!1". Good Day.[/b] My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. gonzlar
I only believe that those who cannot craft nats will resolve towards mining their own ess. Even if the gp of "pure ess" goes up towards a drastically high gp, people will still buy it as it is the fastest means to them making money. The self-proclaimed king of bronze. blakdragon39
Unless ess goes to prices such as 200 gp ea, people will still buy it. Chances are, if it DOES go that high, the price of our runes (nature, laws, deaths, etc) will go higher as well. So this is a good thing for rc'ers. But, if prices do go that high, people still buy them, because there is still profit to be made from crafting our runes.
Dr_Elephant
Thank. You. There are many - usually optimistic - people on these forums that have earned my respect in the past who are getting swept away by the initial shell shock of such a drastic change. I know it doesn't help that public perception of Jagex was already overwhelmingly negative. When many people already distrust the folks behind the game, a change like this is guaranteed to have vocal critics. Just because most people think something's bad doesn't mean it's inherently bad. As I said in another thread, the players of this game are too resilient (or just too hopelessly addicted) to let this update do any substantive damage. oddfaery2
I was just thinking last night that doing fire runes may be better than world 66 if the costs vary too much. Proud to have gotten 1800 skill total before access to fishing guild Why make a house when you can rob one?

I read a post on the official forums where Zezima said that just by the multiplier effect that making fire runes at that level was more profitable than if he had gotten to 99 on natures or laws. Darklink224
Choas, Natures, Laws, And Death prices are going to go HIGH!! We lived BECAUSE of the macroers, they provided cheap essence for us. Its just like the U.S. If we get rid of the illegal immigrants, our price for everything go up!! EDIT: Srry. Changed If you use mIRC...

I can believe it... Assuming fires are 15ea you would onlybe making mor eprofit than nats or laws when you get 21 runes per essence... And as soon as you reach 91 you'd need 41 runes per essence... Ah well, Ardy nats chest ftw! Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. Barihawk
This stinks!! Me and my friend were going to trade ess for choas so he could get his runecrafting lvlv up!!! This realy stinks Choas, Natures, Laws, And Death prices are going to go HIGH!! We lived BECAUSE of the macroers, they provided cheap essence for us. Its just like the U.S. If we get rid of the illegal immigrants, our price for everything go up!! This thread is not for venting anger over prices, it is about how to overcome the situation. If you want to vent, go to the rants forum. Please don't spam my thread (other people may fall in with you and completely derail my train). godsfearme
It is actully good for the f2p. The prices for the ess will be less than they were. But the prices for the runes you craft proably stay the same. So i will get bundles of money now. I will shoot down any one with my bitting wit, and sarcasm! What POSSIBLE reason would someone have to make a fake like that?Does he profit from faking a picture like that? Does it help him at all?Jesus Christ, stop being so suspicious. This is Tip.it for God's sake, not RuneHQ. -_-
St_Gladius
Im mad at the giant price increase im thinking of making a new account whos a ranger because I cant keep up with these prices.... mages are going to hell because of this I want the macoers back they keep the prices cheap! I used to allways make fun of autoers but know that there gone im sad... you never realize what you got till its gone
bestsob
I agree 100% with what you've just said. Whenever someone asks me for money, I DO offer them jobs. Most of the time though it is for materials or items I plan on using when i'm finished with my goals. Very well said.
Darklink224
Yea, dont agree with me. I just said that in my last post!! Hence the simile with the Unite States! If you use mIRC...
Barihawk
Yea, dont agree with me. I just said that in my last post!! Hence the simile with the Unite States! You are talking about autoers. He (and I) were talking about beggars. It shouldn't hurt mages that much. I craft my own runes (6 basic) and buy the higher levels. I've been hurt nil by this update and I mage quite frequently. aznmidget448
I highly doubt this will stop autoers... They'll just move to something else, like fishing or woodcutting... But you are right. Members will still use the "free ess" because they will find it to be cheaper than buying the "pure ess". Overall, our economy isn't destroyed. Ess miners will either keep doing what they're doing or move on to some new stat.

ixfd64
Also, normal essence prices may not drop too much if enough sellers collude to sell at the normal price. But then again, some people give up early and will lower their prices. If I ever need normal essence, I will still buy at the regular price.
