Horseback Riding (completely worked out) [EDITED]

Like the title said... ALMOST completely worked out...

 

 

 

I havent worked much on the combat system much (like Heavy Warhorses, Scout Cavalries, or whatever you can think of that varies speed, the weight of armor you can carry on a horse, how strong your horse is, and perhaps it could have 2 attacks that inflict -04 damage with its hooves, or how lances work specificly)

 

 

 

However, much like agility arenas, think of Ranches.

 

Ranches would be places where you train a horse into one of many yet to be determined "final products", as mentioned above. This training of a horse could give Horseback Riding XP as well... And your warhorse could indeed be traded to other people.

 

 

 

This is one of the many reasons why I wanted it to be a new skill instead of a simple addon...

 

 

 

So far it should have the following features:

 

- Travel hubs from city to city (think carpet rides/canoes)

 

- Wilderness combat added with various weaponry to benefit AND counter mounted people. (mage wouldnt do cuz maging requires concentration)

 

- Ranches which function much like an agility training arena/rat pits combination, allowing to train your horses into Heavy warhorses, Light warhorses, Scout cavalries, or simple beats of burden (used for just the hubtravel, for example)

 

- The ability to trade your trained animals to others just as if it were weapons. (much like you can trade dragon longswords to someone who hasnt done Lost City)

 

 

 

I will think of many more things to add to this skill... perhaps even how the quest to get access to this skill will look like.

 

 

 

PS: I will, when time allows put this all into 1 neat little post... so keep your ideas coming...

Ok, now this is really going a little too far. Your original idea was indeed well thought out, but it just isn't going to happen. There will be no ridable horses in runescape, it is the first item on the DO NOT SUGGEST list on the official forums. As has been said, it is just a novelty idea, and it would be better to spend time on other updates.

 

 

 

I'll take this as a challenge to work this out so far that you would think it was already an integral part of the runescape world...

The skill is not completely worked out yet, but i doubt soemthing as a "Saradomin horse" is going to make this thing realistic... keep an eye on thsi thread, you might like what you see upcoming still...

how to get them

 

perhaps a monster that drops horses? like a horse eating super giant you have to kill for some sort of quest, and you get a horse, you could only have 1 horse at a time and some horses are better than others.

 

 

 

different types of horse

 

if you don't get a very good horse you can send it to the horse home and go and kill the giant for a new one, the horse home costs 2k to get to so you can re-home your horse and it is far away from the giant and there are no teleport spots near it so you can't just kill the giant, go to the horse home really quickly, kill the giant again, send the horse to the horse home and kill the giant again until you get the best horse.

 

 

 

What they could be used for

 

you can only use it in the wilderness or in the new mini-game, horse racing, you can take your horse there and race him against other horses and bet money on your, or anybody elses horse (you do not need to have a horse in the race to bet).

 

 

 

Horse Armour

 

The horse armour would come in sets (barbarian armour, Knight armour, Monk armour, etc) all the different armours would have different effects on the speed, strength, accuarcy and defence of your horse. the armours could be bought from armour merchants from all different places depending on what the armour is.

 

 

 

Horse stats

 

The horse's stats would be on a seperate page to your characters stats on the levels window. The horse stat's could be:

 

 

 

Strength-how much weight your horse can hold

 

 

 

Speed-how fast your horse can go

 

 

 

Defence-What armour your horse can wear

 

 

 

Accuarcy-How often your horse hits

FIrst , make sure it'd be f2p :)) . Secondly , i'd offer this for widly : IF hit by a halberd or spear , or lance u'd have a 50 percent chance off falling off and your horse would run away .Thirdly - how about taming your own horse-liek creatures ( for example unicorns) . You'd get on them and start riding them , thus getting exp :)) ( that woudl be teh way hwo to get to lvl 5 horseriding) . FOurth - no way an extension to agility . FIfth - how about the ability to tame dragons ? Imagine how'd a lvl 92 horseback rider on a black dragon woudl look when next to the black castle or sumthing :)) . BTW , you played Age of EMpires 2 at one point , didin't you .... AT least a long time ago ...

Hm, the first part about transportation is good, best horse idea ive seen, but then you fell in the trap of trying to make them part of combat. I lost interest there :? .

Sounds a well thought out idea, and this one is pretty convincing also I wouldn't doubt if it one day happened, after all Jagex pretended POHs were never going to exist. I use canoes, though mainly in farming but this seems much more useful, and whether it'd be a seperate skill or an agility tie in, both seem reasonable.

good idea i have something to add.

 

 

 

during christmas you help santa find a reindeer whistle that he uses to call his reindeer. the whistle is a drop from a boss-the anti-santa. return the whistle to santa to get a reward of some kind, like a key to enter the dungon anytime you want. them after you get your own whistle you can use it to call reindeer and ride them to god knows where. the reindeer stops would be guarded by some kind of monester (anti santa minion?). you only have to kill them once per whistle. the whistle would break after 10 uses so every10 times you have to rekill the anti santa and the minions.

 

 

 

in addition the anti santa could aslo drop snowballs and a snowball bag ( 5,10, or 20), and ice staff ( water staff basiclly ), or a ice sword/shield( equivalent to a addy long/ addy square.
