Ring of wealth - friend or foe?

Featured Replies

Last week i was killed with skull killing green drags with my ring of wealth.

i lost it of course, and i wasnt to unhappy, because i had never had a decent drop wearing it.

on friday, i thought id try my luck at bronze dragons.

after killing 3, i got a d skirt.

i thought i was the luckiest person ever, and realised i got this with no wealth.

then on saturday, i was killing tzarr kets for exp.

after about 30 i got a shield, then half an hour later got a maul.

today, after killing about 10 i got an obby cape.

now, i've ben thinking and im sure that my ring of wealth was not making me get better drops, instead it was making them worse.

now, is it just me having extraodinary luck or, is the ring of wealh not worth having.

post your thoughts.

It's supposed to be ur friend, but through some evil stroke of luck I often see people posting about how they don't get any good drops with it.

you know, you might be lucky but youre right, ive never had a good drop when wearing ring of wealth, neither have i had one not wearing one (cuz i never dont wear one) maybe i should try not waering one

but one thing is for sure, wearing ring of wealth increases the rarity of herbs you get from monsters for sure..

Yeah i got loads of herbs while wearing it at chaos druids

Those are some nice drops... Imagine the drops you would have gotten if you HAD worn a ring of wealth :o

Haven't played RuneScape since 12 january 2007 and it feels great :)

i herd ring of wealth oonly increases drops of like gems, half keys and herbs. thats all really does

RuneScape is a drug with the street value of 2gp.

Ring of wealth is soooo over rated anyway, i dont even have 1 in my bank, i prefer a ring of life (or a berserker ring when i got the cash)

Agaisn't pures

He is my friend. My only friend... I love you ring of wealth!

EDIT- But really, there's no way to prove whether the rare drops increase or not. I'm just going to put my faith in Jagex, because you know... They sorta MADE THE GAME and I doubt they would lie about one of the most valued members items.

well yagex could reveal the rate at which ring of wealth increases the possibility of a good drop...

I got my only d drop (left half) wearing the ring...

Playing since February 2003

Another ROW topic...

In short: Jage-x confirmed that ROW does effect rare drops.

They described drops as a wheel. On that wheel their are soo many spots for rares. Once you get the kill the wheel stops. Theres your drop.

Wearing the row reduces the blank spots on the wheel with rare items.

So your answer is yes.

You where just extremely lucky.

I always wear Axe Man's Lucky ROW.. (( 2 whips form Abbys ))

good luck and if you need another ROW just add me. Ill sell you one dirt cheap

well personally i quite like mine, i got a left half from a lvl 45 skeleton in crandor and a d med from a fire giant using it.

I'm not drunk! You wouldn't dare call me drunk if i was sober!

personally, i dont use a ring of wealth no longer. i got rid of my row about 2 weeks ago saying it was bad luck. since then, well, no d drops

but i do believe that not having a row increases the amount of rares u get from tt's. ever since i got rid of my row, i have gotten rares in 5 of the last 6 clue scrolls i have done :)

Current Attack XP - 7,3xx,xxx - Going for 99

a drops a drop i wuv my beserker ring over ring of wealth and since ive got 8 whip drops this week since i bought my beserker ring and furry i have no complaints row is just a waste of time dream for noobs to get rich fast as im finding out. but then again why if it does increase rares does it sell for only 30k now

I did a trip at steel dragons without ring of wealth, and I noticed the difference in drops. That was my worse trip to steels ever...

Lets just use our noggins for a sec. It is a ring of WEALTH. Wealth being gems, gp, etc. Not pertaining to items as drops. At least that's how i see it. But i like the "Wheel Theory." seems logical in some sense.

If I am not mistaking in some point Jagex said ring of wealth doesn't e effect clue. not getting a clue and not a clue reward.

im not one of them 2% and DAM proud of it. and thats funny, i also dont think row does anything. i never get any good drops, so yeh.

He wasn't giving the wheel thing as a theory he came up with. He said that "they"(being Jagex) described it as being like a wheel. Basically, it's not a theory that he came up with. It's the way Jagex described it.

Noctis666.png

I don't know what to think really. On one side there's Jagex saying that it increases the probability, so it really should be true, but on the other hand, I have my personal experience. 32 hours of Dust Devils with it on and nothing. Take it off for 3 and get a Chain. That's probably just pure luck though.

I do however wear the Wealth when i'm KQing or KDing. The reason being is that at both places I get poisoned. If I take a Ring of Life and it saves me, i'll die of poison in Fally, and randoms will get my sgtuff, instead of the people I was fighting with.

well i had my wealth on during these drops

3 d chains

2 d2hs

1 d med

1 d legs

2 d skirts

and i never had a d drop without one

and at dustdevils i had it on for 15k nothing take it off for 5k nothing then put it back on for another 10k and still nothing so i gave up and went to the kq and it works :)

The ring just increases odds. I'm thinking it doesn't increase it by like 50% or anything like that, but by such a small margin that few people would notice any change. In the end, it's all about luck.

Noctis666.png

Another case of logical fallacy. When you dealt with probability, you can't just assume something like ROW reduce drop chance based on so few experience. The only way you can make such judgement is when you have a large, systematic study.

Here's a few:

19-20-696-21477515

This study has over a million kills loged, so it's something that you can trust.

~Ring-of-Wealth~

It does work; it will speed it up. If you don't believe me look at page 2 and compare numbers.

Another study to look at: 19-20-816-19819042

So all in all, ROW does work.

All I learned in life, I learned on Tip.it

I did a trip at steel dragons without ring of wealth, and I noticed the difference in drops. That was my worse trip to steels ever...

Really? I've burned about 15k Chaos runes there and havn't even goten one drop with my ROW. Also, I've goten 4k kills at the FG's with a ROW and no luck. I've officially abandoned that cursed object, may it burn forever within the deepest pits of Mordor.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Well, I find that the ring of wealth simply increases the chance of items dropping and possibly what drops.

The self-proclaimed king of bronze.

like i said a drop is a drop good or bad
