You know the popular willow cutting area in Draynor? You know of the lvl 7 Dark wizards right?

Well I started a newb lvl 3 wcer. Right when I got 30wc, headed down there to cut willows. All I have equiped is my magic ammy, because I thought forsure I was going to be a target to the lvl 7 wizards. So I head down there, and to my surprise - they dont attack....EVER!

Is it because of my ammy? I dont know...

DISCUSS! Dont go off topic... this forum is notorious for that.

If they are level 7, how can they be agressive to level 20's? I thought monsters will continue to be agressive until your combat level is twice theirs.

Maybe they didnt attack you because they were trying to attack other players.

some monsters will attack if your level is more than twice theirs. i used to train on hobgoblins and they attacked me until i was... level 52-ish or so...

anyway, they couldve just made the mage nonaggressive. those getting attacked could be attacking it first.

Its their combat, doubled, plus 1.

A = No attack

B = Their combat level

A = 2B+1

At least that is what I've discovered from personal experience.

Aggressive monsters attack until you are above twice their level. For example, level 14 scorpions attack anyone up to level 28, but once you are level 29 they no longer do so.

If dark wizards are no longer aggressive, it would just let a few autoers off the hook, but not many autoers cut in draynor anyway compared to other places. Though it will save a few newbies lives. Interesting find though, we'll have to see if anyone else has seen this.

I was there a few days ago and they still attacked the low levels. Perhaps the magic ammy stops them from attacking you.

Not always true, Ive seen lvl 20s being attacked by the lvl 7 Dark Wizards - then I was reported for "autoing" because I wasnt being attacked.

if you stand in a place for long anough, the monsters of that place become unagressive...

That is the case sometimes, but when it comes to my newb its not. Right when I logg in, I stood right next to the wizards - yet they dont attack.

Thats what Im thinking, but Im still unsure.. If this were true, autoing may take another step if it gets leeked. Because all you need to do now is wear magic ammy and the wizards wont attack you.. 8-)

Worse mathematics ever :lol:

First of all, 7 * 2 + 1 = 15 which is smaller than 20

Secondly, the expression "No attack = 2 * combat level + 1" makes no sense, the experession "No attack = (your combat level > 2 * monster combat level +1)" does.

They're level 26... Of course they'd stop attacking you when you're level 53... Yes I know he said 52.

Anyway... That's there to stop autoers, and some monsters attack you no matter what level you are... Maybe they attack everyone... Which would make sense but I'm almost 100% sure they don't. It's just a bug in the system... Every since they changed the enginea ton of bugs have been showing up... I like looking at bug reports anyway lol.

Sometimes, the case is that if your player doesn't move, the creatures doesn't attack. I stood in one space after logging in, right next to a Lesser Demon, and no attack. I don't know though, it's just me =\

Currently P2P.

I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand.

How long have you been in that area?

After a certain amount of time, the npcs will stop attacking you so you don't train afk.

Otherwise, nice find :D

Kind reminds me of how I killed an evil chicken at level 3 when my normal account was banned. They don't even hit 1...

Two things that I'm too lazy to quote:

Maybe the magic amulet stops them?

Theres a quick way to find out. Bank all your stuff and try approaching the wizard with and without it. The walk back from lumbridge is not all that long.

The thing about hobgoblins attacking someone twice their level:

I seem to recall seeing the hobgoblins at the wilderness mine attacking someone significantly more then twice their level (and I play with Calculator ready, so I'm pretty sure about my math on that one), so at least some monsters can do it.

In relation to the thread overall:

That is definately weird! I would suggest experimenting. Wield different things, try it with and without the ammy, see if there is anyone else he doesnt attack, etc. (This is assuming you really care of course, which you very well may not.)

If you dont take steps to ensure that you're protected, you void all right to complain when stuff goes wrong.
