I lost my friend....i feel so lost now.

 

 

 

Right now i am in the school library typing this blog, and im trying to hold back my tears because I'm not alone. My stomach hurts every time I think about her death....She did not deserve to die..She was smart and always happy when u saw her...Brittany had such a sweet voice and a beautiful smile...She was just a beautiful person all together...Brittany had alot of talents, and she shared them with everyone. She was not ashamed to praise God. I know she is in heaven, and I know she is with us all in spirit...

 

 

 

The night she passed, i tried to call 100.3 the beat to have that song i miss u played for her, but they never played it...I just pray that people will stop all this violence..all this gang [cabbage] is not cool at all....If u are a gang banger i just wanna let u know i dont like u....I hope u burn in hell. because now my friend is dead because u think bangin is the bizz...because of u, people are afraid to leave their homes...or u cant leave the house with the wrong colors on cuz u might get shot...I think that gang bangers are people who dont have God in their lives and have no education at all...Gangs are tearing are generation apart..If u bang just know this-I have no respect for u at all....

 

 

 

Today when i got dressed for school I put on all red....I go to a school where its mostly crips...I wore red just to say "I DONT GIVE A [bleep]"..I am no longer going to let these jerks who think they're hard run my life..and if u have a promblem with it come over in my place and do somethin about it..My name is (edit). Come and see me..Just know u dont want none..cuz im mad..my homegirl was gonna go to college. She was smart and beautiful, and just turned 18.....U took her life...So if someone who has done nothing wrong lost there life...then why should u have the right to live....

 

 

 

As for Brittany...Baby girl I love u, and I know we will meet again someday in the kingdom of God

Sorry for your loss. It's even worse when a person WORTHY of living dies.

That's horrible hearing about your friend. We have our fair share of gang violence in the area as well. Mostly highschool dropouts whose parents never taught them right from wrong. I think it's horrible these days now that children see the life of a "gangsta" as glorified, much less something worth pursuing.

Real gangs yes please stop them. But before anyone has posted anything about rap and their gangster influence, 90% of the industry doesn't do stuff like that kthx. Just wanted to clarify that. Also when I read your blog my stomach weighed down because I listen to rap and I love rapping and then I read something like this and find it bull [cabbage] that [wagon] do this. I disagree on alot of things "gangsters" do and this is sick. I remember going through the DARE program in 5th grade and learned about gangs and the colors they associate with. Hell, you can't wear a certain color without getting shot if you're a teen or in some cases a scruffy looking younger male (LOL). I feel very sorry for you and wish you the best of luck in life, I've never had stuff like this happen to me but usually when I watch gang movies(it's a movie but still), I cry when the main character dies.

 

 

 

Violence overall should be stopped, not just gangs. Also a thing that you must also consider is was he/them on any drugs at the time? Drunk? Was she caught in a gang fight? I really like the idea of this topic and think it's a good debate. But I think you should kinda change this topic to violence rather then targetting gangs for the reason this could turn into a rap bash and most likely the topic burns to ashes in a flame war. Violence should stay in games kids and stay off the streets.

I understand that there is alot of rap that does not promote violence. That happens to be the good stuff, the kind that I could listen to, the kind that I wish my little sister would get into.

 

 

 

But, the mainstream stuff promotes alot of negativity (IMHO) whether it be anger, violence, or sex. Unfortunately, that's alot of the stuff the younger kids listen to.

 

 

 

Today, as I was in school, I had to walk over to our Junior High building, (grades 7th-8th, ages range from 12-14) running an errand for one of my teachers. I just so happened to walk in while they were switching classes, and tons of children were in the hallways, yelling, running, and fighting. I happened to notice a crowd around these two guys who were attempting to "rap battle" each other. As far as rapping goes, they were terrible. As far as the lyrics, they were terrible. One kid was rapping about how he was going to put the other kid in the hospital. The other kid was rapping about how he was going to kill his "opponent's" whole family. Both of the (I'm guessing) 14 year olds were talking and bragging about how "hard" they were. It was truly a sad sight to behold.

 

 

 

I kept wondering what our world was coming to. I live in a pretty small town, and it's easy to see the effects of the media on the children that live here.

 

 

 

Now, I am most definately not trying to bash rap music. There is alot of rap that I consider to be good. There is alot of quality rap in the world, just like there is quality country, rock, etc. I'm talking about the crap you see on MTV, the stuff you hear played over and over and over again on the "popular" radio station in your area.

 

 

 

I think that it's also safe to say that not all people turn to violence because of the media's influence.

 

 

 

I am also aware that just like there are people who are easily swayed by the media, there are people who have opinions, and values. Some of the nicest people I know also listen to mainstream rap music. They simply have their own ideas. I'm simply saying that alot of people are pretty impressionable. Especially at a younger age.

Just wanted to point out you hoping something like that is almost as bad as what the people you hate are doing. Things like these are what people always make fun of Christians for, being hypocritical and everything. But that's another debate all together I guess.

 

 

 

But I'm terribly sorry about your loss. I don't live near anywhere that would have gangs, nor have I lost someone close to me, so I can't say I know how you feel. The best I can do is offer my condolence. These gang members will get what they have coming to them. It might not be soon, but justice will be served, even if it is after they die. It's not right for you to judge someone through your own eyes though. Leave that to God. Anyways, you should be happy for this girl if she is going to heaven. She's going to be much happier than she could ever possibly be here on Earth.

I don't really think that rap music plays that much of part in gangs, without rap there would still be gangs. Although some of rap and hip-hop has derogatory themes, saying that the entire genre is to blame isn't true.

Yea, it is getting out of hand. Now, I'm a rap fan. I love rap, but this new stuff coming out is just pitiful. All about the same thing - Sex, Killing, and Drugs. Everytime a rap song comes onto the radio I can predict what it's about. It's pathetic. And it's like this because songs like that are always on tv and the radio, and thats all people listen to - what everyone else is. They never go out and buy CDs. They just turn on MTV or BET and listen to that, and thats where they are seeing the rappers rapping about killing other people.

Gang violence is going too far. Even more so than before. Where I live, the authorities recently arrested members of a gang, many of whom were teenagers, because they were planning to bombmany palces in the city. It's not just guns anymore, it's gone to boms in some cases. This is just wrong.
