I watch with my friends just to laugh at it. Its really hilarious talking to your buds about how fake it is. \'

Yeah... It's tons of fun to watch when you're young... But when you get older and relise it's all fake, the only fun is laughing at it.

Everyone knows its fake, but for something thats 'fake' they risk alot and risk hurting themselves very badly.

But some things arn't fake in wrestling. If your have ever seen the Hell in the Cell match at King of the Ring 98 where Mankind gets thrown of the edge, I fail to see how that could have been fake.

And another, If you havn't ever seen the Barbed wire match between Sabu and Terry Funk watch it. It may change your opinion on how 'fake' wrestling is. Especially the part where Sabu rips his arm open in the barbed wire and has to have over 100 stitches put in it so it closes :o

RVD had to give up both the titles he was holding and has been suspended for 30 days. Sabu recieved a $1000 fine. My guess is they gave Sabu the fine in stead of the suspension because he doesn't have a clause in his contract that prevents him from wrestling in Japan or in indipendant promotions while he's supspended or after he's fired. I really don't see why they won't hold titles again though, both have a huge history with ECW.

Speaking of which, am I the only one that thinks they won't even make it to the end of the year? They're putting less and less Extreme Rules matches on their cards, and with RVD suspended and Angle taking time off for personal reasons their main attractions are gone. Furthermore, under McMahon guidance the whole thing has become far too predictable, and some matches are downright stupid. First of all, when an ECW wrestler is wrestling a (former) WWE wrestler, the WWE guy will win 9 out of 10 times. And then they're having a great tag team like the F.B.I. jobbing sepperately in the singles devision. Then they have stupid bits like Kelly's Expos̮̩̉̉. If I wanted a stripper I'll just turn on the internet, thank you very much.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRGyKGt2kOg - For those who weren't around for the old ECW: August 2000, Psicosis vs. Yoshihiro Tajiri. That's the kind of matches I want to associate with the name ECW, not the travesty they're putting on now.

The new ECW is a joke. It is nothing like it ever was, and, it never will be. This is because it is owned by WWE. ECW used to be an independantly owned company were they only had themselves to answer to. But now that its a WWE brand, it can't do any of the stuff it used to. They would get into alot of trouble.

The new ECW has been aimed at a worldwide audience who want to see another RAW or Smackdown. They have adjusted ECW's style to suit this. For everyone who watched ECW before it went bankrupt, the new ECW will be Sh*t and never like it was. We will always be disappointed with it and will probably never accept the new 'ECW' as ECW. For me, ECW will be like it has been for the last 5 years and is still gone :( . Basically the new 'ECW' is just like Velocity or Heat.

I also don't understand why they are calling the matchs " Extreme Rules". ECW never had rules in there matchs and calling matches "Extreme Rules" is really an insult to the old ECW in my opinion.

I wish they had just left ECW dead, and in many peoples memories. The new ECW has ruined what ECW was about. Most people will remember ECW for what they see now, and not for what was happening between 1993-2001. And this to me is quite sad :( They will never really know what ECW was all about and how it truely was.

The arrogance and the Mr. McMahon Kiss My Wagon club is just part of his act as the big bad heel. Still, there's a very long list of doubious choices for his promotion. A good example of this is Paul London (part of the London & Kendrik tag team on the Smackdown! roster). During his stint in the Ring of Honor promotion, the crowd would often chant "Please don't die" because of his high-risk style. For example, in Ring of Honor he once did a 630 splash off the top of a steel cage. However, thanks to WWE rules, he isn't allowed to use finishers like London Calling (shooting star press) and Calling London (450 splash) anymore, which means that they've pretty much cut him off from the moves that got him noticed during the early years of his career.

The other problem with McMahon is that he's obsessed with big guys. Just look at the way John Cena was shoved down the throats of the crowds as WWE champ even though he consistently drew chants like "you can't wrestle". This focus on big guys over talented guys will eventually come back to bite the WWE in the rear. There will come a point where people will refuse to pay $39,95 for a PPV headlined by Mark Henry.Look at the amount of (ex WWE) talent is running around in TNA at the moment. If a guy like Samoa Joe was on the WWE roster, Vince would probably have him jobbing on Heat or Velocity even though he's more talented and entertaining than 90% of the current WWE roster.

Indeed, the new ECW suffers from severe McMahonism.

McMahon is a flipping loser, he thinks hes god, he makes wrestlers kiss his wagon, * does he think hes doing :?

its entertainment what u think?

Id go for entertainment that involves wrestlers fighting and bloodshed etc.. (like mark henry the wreckless machine) but not an old man who has a sissy son who thinks he rules the flippin world.... that aint my piece of cake..

I stoped watching wrestling... Right when I started RS #-o , It got stupid after all those crappy wrestlers came, no fun, like when Stone Cold was in that 4 wheeler, whooping out beer cans, flipping people off :) The good ol' days... :-w Well, when I stopped watching it, mine was SHAWN MICHAELS! His theme song is great... Haha, I love how DX came back together, my freind told me that... You know, I just might start watching wrestling again :o

With Batista returning, I really doubt Rey Mysterio will hold onto his belt for much longer. Booker will probably win it from him at The Great American Bash PPV, and then he'll fued with Batista over it. He's been a great champion, but he's just too small and light to make it believable. I hope that once he drops the belt he starts focusing on the cruiserweight devision and/or the tag team devision with Batista. He'd be much better off there.

ECW sucks period.

You must be more into the entertainment side of wrestling then instead of the actual Wrestling  . ECW is nothing but none stop action from start to finish whereas in WWE they talk for about the first hour of the show then have people like the Boogeyman putting worms in there mouth. But whatever.. thats your opinion

:x don't they kill people in ECW?

EDIT:Sorry for double post.

Depends on your definition of fake... it's true that the outcome of matches is predetermined by storyline writers. However, wrestlers are still athletes that have to train hard to keep their bodies in shape, and the risk of painful injuries is very real...

On March 16, 1994, Foley and Vader had one of the most infamous matches in wrestling history in Munich, Germany. Foley began a hangman, a spot (pre-planned move) where a wrestler's head is tangled between the top two ring ropes. The spot is usually painful but safe. However, unbeknownst to Foley, a wrestler (2 Cold Scorpio) had earlier complained that the ropes were too loose, resulting in the ring staff tightening the ropes to the maximum. As Foley struggled to pull himself out, he tore his ear off completely.

Wrestling is fake in the sense that the outcome of matches is predetermined, but it's real in the sense that athletes have to train to develop their skills, and that they really are putting their body on the line when they perform stunts like getting slammed through furniture or thrown onto concrete floors.
