Repopulating the Wilds: A suggestion.

I've posted this idea in RS forums and have received a ton of support extremely fast. I just thought to try it out here to see how it flies.

 

 

 

Let's face it. The wilds have become a desolate wasteland. I read complaints about it all the time. PKers are so bored they kill whomever the see, even unarmed foes. They need something to do. Plus they need an idea to bring players BACK into the wilds for them to PK.

 

 

 

My Suggestion: Make NPCs(Non player characters)that roam the wilds for PKing purposes only. Let them have items from the ordinary on up to the rarest but the rare ones would be ULTRA RARE. Each one of these could have it's own personality and even traits. Which leads to:

 

 

 

Open up a new 'bounty office' in Edgeville. Make it look like an old west sheriff's office(Without guns of course). And here, you can get 'wanted' posters(complete with information) on NPC's to hunt down for a bounty(Plus whatever items they're carrying). The higher the risk of the NPCs power, the greater the bounty. The NPC's could even be named.

 

 

 

Also, this can be extended to including an NPC clan or two. These could be themed groups with significant fighting styles that can be studied and overcome.

 

 

 

This skill could also be tied in with slayer. Getting Xp from bounties taken, of which you won't have to go to a slayermaster to get the assignment.

 

 

 

Watch the wilds repopulate with LIFE again.

 

 

 

Any ideas on how to improve this will be not only helpful but extremely welcome. No flamers or spammers. Constructive criticism is also welcome. ALSO: other ideas for reinvigorating the wilds is welcome.

 

 

 

Disclaimer: I'm not a PKer. I'm too softhearted to BE a PKer. But I tire of being PKed while I'm doing a clue scroll or going to agility course out of boredom. Yes, they PK unarmed players out of sheer boredom.

I support this, get those players in Wild. I roam for hours around mossies, castle, gdz, rr, evil altar, ice plataeu, hillies, bandits, and graveyard for hours with no sight of anyone else. I hop numerous times too. Its so annoying. :cry:

I have no objections, although fighting NPC's is not, in my opinion, better than fighting other players, as there is no flexibility, name-calling, taunting, etc. It may be a nice little idea, but it is slightly excessive and I doubt JAGeX will put it in.

Sounds good. Personally I'd like to see more skeletons and other undead (crumble undead ftw!) types along with the outlaws (bandits, especially) roaming the wilderness so it's truly wild.

I like the idea, while pking is meant to be about killing other players, at least the wilderness could start having more variety in you can do there.

Yes, I know wilds are for player PKing but let's face it. Nowadays, you either see noone in the wilds or an entire clan.

 

 

 

I hear people say Wilderness Tag will invigorate the wilds..and I ask how? This might last half a day if that long. And what will PKers gain from players running around with Lightness boots and cheap food?

 

 

 

Agility trainers tend to be very intelligent, and I feel they won't be doing this with all the other courses out there.

if u belive this is a good idea which i belive it is too then would the npc's have food on them or be regular enimes u know the harder the bounty the more food they use if not then y not im new here but i can tell you're on the right track i support u 110% so continue this and maybe oneday the wilderness will be repopulated or u could go to worl 1 and f2p pk everyones pking or selling there!!!!

I think that the bounty idea is an excellent one at that, but it does not truly give one the feeling of "pking". An NPC does not have REASON, which is one of the thrills of fighting other players. All-in-all, I think it's a so-so idea. :?

Why did I bother posting it in these forums when I have over 150 supporters in no time on the RS forums? Because I wanted others to see the idea.

 

 

 

Yes, I know the 'feel' of the wilds is to "PK others", but the whole point of my idea is that NOONE IS OUT THERE FOR YOU TO PK. I can literally walk from one end to the other and see noone.

 

 

 

We've got to get players to WANT to go out there. What do you expect? Players to go back out there simply because you want them to, or for them to go out there because they have something they want to get.

But seriously. Introducing these NPCs will certainly not put PKers off into killing people over NPCs. It is more like the thrill of killing people, of knowing they have a heart, soul and mind... in reality. Not much point in killing pixels controlled by a computer program...

I think that is the point, get more people out there to kill each other. And with that addition there would be more worthwhile people to kill not just 3-itemers, etc...

i think putting it as a mini game would be just as cool as putting in the wildy but putting it in the wildy helps open up the wildy as well so it should be a wildy thing

What if you could play as one of the bounties? You don't have to worry about losing your stuff, pkers get to kill a human.

 

Also, get to learn how to adjust against and to different fighting styles.
