Barrows

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm planning to go do barrows for a little bit of cash soon. But first, I need to ask some questions....

1) Will I make a profite even after having to buy a bunch of pray pots?

2) is it worth it?

Right now I'm short on cash, and REALLY don't want to make money by fishing, mining, ect.. So I plan to do this to make a few mills. I'm worried I might end up loosing more money by buying pray pots, is this true?

help and advice

but you might break even, i would suggest train slayer to 55 and then attack barrows. with magic dart you should be fine in there

Whether you'll make a profit or not depends on your prayer pot usage and how lucky you are. If you get a Guthan Warspear in the first few runs, then yeah totally. If you get like an ahrims staff after 80 runs, then no. Is it worth it? That all depends on luck.

you could do sidestep but thats simply takes too much time

noctis, i'm breaking even or make money EVERY run that i do.

i use magic dart and each run i spend about 25-30k and in return (runes) i get 30-50k+.

You don't have to be math genius to figure that one out.

personally i would persuade everyone in runescape to do barrows if i could.....as long as they don't keep asking questions about it or wanting me to do stuff for them

but as long as you have the levels, quests and are prepared i would always say go for it, even if you dont get actually armour you can get a ton of runes, ive gotten over 2k bloods an over 9k chaos from barrows

Tewas, there are some people who only get a 6 kill count. I don't think they break even with that. At least not all the time. That is if they don't get a Barrows item.

You could sidestep. There's also a room where you could go back and forth until one of the brothers spawn and if they are the melee brothers you can attack them from the safespot on the other side of the rocks. Sidestepping is only for a moment of relaxation and healing without getting hit. You definitely have to pray against Karil. There are people who take Ahrim, Guthan, and Torag without prayer so if you have the def and the knowledge of how to do that....

if you use prayer pots you have to be lucky to get a profit.

if you use cakes/lobs then you just make a profit anyway.

I'm not drunk! You wouldn't dare call me drunk if i was sober!

true i'm getting 17+ kc when i got, because i need runes :) with 6kc it's hard to break even.

prayer agains karil is must. also against verac and dharock in crypts. verac hits nasty numbers often if you don't have prayer and everyone knows famous dharock 2hits :)

PS if you go to barrows: turn accept aid OFF, it's more needed than pray pots

No you don't. I was doing Barrow Runs before I stopped doing members and I never once had to pray against him or any of the other brothers.

Depending on how accurate he was, I might've needed to use a shark or two, but other then that... he was nothing.

Can't recall what I wore or anything, because that was almost a year ago, but if it was possible then... it is possible now.

To the poster... Your combat skills are about the same as mine. Your Defense is slightly better, but your Attack and Strength are a little lower then mine (I only have like 2 combat levels on you). Your Prayer is about the same as mine and I think your Magic is pretty close to mine as well. I would consider maybe doing the Ice Spells from Desert Treasure. You probably wont want to because it might cost more, but thats what I was doing. And I needed absolutely no prayer pots because of it. And I was using very little Shark.

Actually, Karil was made to be much more accurate than he used to be. Jagex didn't like that he wasn't gettin' owned. He won't hit hard too much but he'll hit a lot and fast.

Okay, usually doing this you ALWAYS make profit

I usually have Ahrim robes for mage and armour ect, I get about 700K to start and buy 100 Prayer potions (3) doses each and make them into (4) doses so I have about 80 Prayer potions, Then I have about 150K leftover, buy about 50 Sharks or some food if you don't have any and go there,Together about spending 750K and with estimating the ammount runes you get per 80 Pots( 3K Chaos, 1.5K deaths ( If not using slayer dart you get 1.5K deaths and 4.5K Minds ) and about 750 racks, thats about 1.3M..You do the math other wise

All Quests completed

99 Thieving achieved on January 10th, 2008

99 Defense achieved on August 3rd, 2008

85 Slayer achieved on July 31st, 2008

6 Dragon boot drops, 14 Whip drops

few things that will help you in making profit when barrowing :

1. NEVER EVER pray on all brothers. Ahrim is optional, but mage Torag and Guthan in Melee armor.

2. Prayer outfit will save a dose or 2 of prayer, again profitable in the long run. Verac's armor is good for both being a melee armor and prayer booster (NOT the full set, just the head, armor and legs)

3. get your kc to at least 10, so you can get blood runes, these will give you very healthy income (for me, 200 [4] prayer pots costed me 1.6m, and that is equivalent to 3k bloods, about 80 runs. if you do it correctly, you should, at most, only use 1 prayer pot per run, assume we use 60, thats all the money back AND 140 left over, not even counting the barrow pieces and chaos runes you might sell).

why not the full set? i happen to do very well with a flail in hand, no magic used on any of the brothers. also no prayer potions used, but that's just me. it's a matter of personal preference, i suppose :D

Verac's Full set with flail is for higher levels, some what costly because one needs to pray on all the brothers, but the profit comes from ALL the runes rather than some, which offsets the extra cost of the p pots. and high prayer level will help save money too.
