Randox
If all infinaties are equal (which they are because they are all infinate) then: There are infinate numbers, and because there are infinate numbers there are also infinate prime numbers. If that is true (which it is) than that means there are an = numbers of numbers (#'s) as there are prime numbers. # of numbers = # of prime numbers even though most numbers are not prime. Think about this for a while and you might be doing this. :wall: .

Omnislash42
Ehh, it just means that you're failing to simpify. Like in calculus, you often get an answer that seems to be 0/0 or infinity / infinity when it really isn't. So, you have to figure out how to simplify. Basically, it means your logic and equation is broken. Cause obviously since every number isn't prime, the amount of prime numbers can't equal the amount of numbers. Infinity doesn't always equal infinity if it's not simplified. I'd dig up some calculus problems where infinity seeeeems to equal infinity but it doesnt, but I'm lazy. So just trust me on that one. If that is true (which it is) than that means there are an = numbers of numbers (#'s) as there are prime numbers. # of numbers = # of prime numbers The problem is that you assume that infinity takes a particular value. Something cannot actually be infinity, but it can tend to infinity, which means it is larger than any value you assign it. Or, another way of thinking about it is, infinity (infinities?) are very large, but you don't know how large. So you can't really compare different infinities. That's why operations such as infinity minus infinity, infinity divided by infinity, etc. are undefined. [sig too big, don't do it again]

mad4u689
Also, NOT all infinities are equal. It's quite interesting... Cantor developed the concept of infinity fairly well. Two sets that are "infinities" are the same if there is a one-to-one matchup; that is, each term in the first set corresponds to a specific term in the second set. So in the set of all odd and even natural numbers, each doubled corresponds to a specific number in the set of all even natural numbers. Thus, there is a one to one matchup, and the infinity of the set of all natural numbers is the same as the infinity of the set of all even numbers. That said, there are infinitely more irrationals than rationals! The set of real numbers is a different "level" of infinity than the set of rational or natural numbers. Here's a fairly easy-to-read description of the infinities, if you're interested: http://www.mathacademy.com/pr/minitext/infinity/ Everybody hug and spread the love :D

Tell me when your done. :wink:but i could never reach infinity could i? i would eventualy die if i counted my whole life, and then the chain would end.
