lsc_sg
My sister was alchemying in edge, suddenly a guy approached her and said he could let her get 4m in 10 mins. My sister planned to ignore this kind of normal scam, but she wanted to see how the guy is going to scam her, so she added him and listen to his [cabbage]. The noob said"Im going to quit rs and im giving out some items" "but b4 i quit i would like to take a video of me killing a person with santa hat" "u can wear nothing but only ur santa" My sister was curious how can he scam, since she thought the auto retailiate bug is already fixed. So she decided to follow that guy but also with auto retailiate off. They went to wild, and that guy took her down to about 10hp. the guy said "oooo lag" and stopped and then he dropped something on ground" my sister right click on it and it says "dragon medium helmet", "glory amulet", "death rune" and "chaos rune" The items are noted and the scam is obvious. My sister suddenly have an idea, she find me and told me about the scam. I quickly switch on my laptop and load a world. Meanwhile she pretend to lag and said she would "restart her comp" and then she log out. I load another world and she point me to the position that guy brought her, i logout and load her world. Then she login, the guy is still waiting for her there. She saw a note and she told me to login. My sister thought that he would drop all 4 items like last time. I login and picked the note up... o it was only 4 glories... too bad really. He didnt drop his d meds this time. But, this is a successful counter-scam. Chaos_Reborn
counter scamming isn't something right. If someone already does something bad, don't do the same to them. Let Jagex take care of this instead. And this should be in general p2p because of the items. I wouldn't call this a scam, just a lure. He takes advantage of a main human weakness - greed. softwarewiz
no what happens when u die that u keep 3 items. As santas are worth 1gp general store price ; when u die any 3 items (could even be bread) get ahead of ur santa in terms of what u keep when u die. after getting to 10hp the guy kills u and u drop ur santa :( ive quit because of the dumb side of the RS community, not because i play too much (like 1 hour a day) dont get lured! Smile
Ive heard about these but I dont really get it. Whats dropping the items do?? Distract them?? the stuff he dropped are all worth more then the santa hat (in the general store), so she picks them up, he kills her, and he gets the santa
T. Skill
I think that people who try these scams are really dumb. Because they can go bad in so many ways. What if the person did bring food and tele runes? They get down to ten hp. Eat. Grab the noted items, and then tele out. Simple as that. Then the scammer just lost some, most likely, good items. funky_nappy
they were noted, thus it was very likely there was more than 1, so she would pick up 4 or more items, leaving the santa as the most worthless.

ishepp
Picking up something he dropped isn't scamming. Nor is telling someone the location of a dropped item. This seems completely fair to me. Refering to this, in the bit about item scamming: if someone picks up an item that you have dropped....this is not item scamming So just take your glories/dmed/mystic tops and get out of there. Personally, if I get a membership, I'm gonna get a whip and brag about my newness, so I will be picked on and get some free stuff from scammers  89/99 farming
nutter1988
I know its kinda a scam in a way, but its still pretty fair. Its basically pkin, u tryin to get wot ppl have, stuff like this is done all the time. Weather u dress like a noob get ppl to attack u then put on ur best pkin stuff and murder them gettin full rune or wotever. At no point r u actually lying to them, so not really a scam. Your simply using the way the wilderness works to ur advantage.
