Can i get banned for looking at forums ? (with answer: YES!)

Featured Replies

If public chat "off" will result someones ban then Jagex is better remove that option at all. IMO
Yep, that would be wise.

I got another example of how you can get reported for not answering.

Imagine your cooking or fletching unstrugs, you will have lot's of mensages from it and if someone talk to you and your not looking on thouse 5 next secounds his mensage will dissapear from the screen and you will not know he asked anything.

If your doing something like fletching cooking whatever just leave public chat on. If a noob wants to keep blabing about you ignoring him and he reports you at least it looks better that you had public chat on rather than off. I do agree that there probly should not be an option to turn private chat off because Jagex takes people having private chat off as macros. Just put the noobs on your ignore list or just ignore them in general.

This is what I do when I surf the forums while playing runescape.

Just thought of this after seeing the above post, if you right click your taskbar you can choose to tile your windows vertically or horizontally. That is what I do sometimes when im trainin.

The circled part can come into play if they find out you're reporting legitimate players who simply don't feel like talking for macroing. Especially if they have sufficient reason to believe you're doing it particularly frequently, even despite possible (and in many cases obvious) evidence that no macroing is actually taking place.

In addition to getting those images, I also sent a message to Jagex regarding their ability to tell the difference between someone simply not talking and actually macroing. I'm currently awaiting their response.

Well the answer belive it or not is YES !

Today i got 1 account banned just like i descrived in the previous post by rule 7 and 6 months ago i got 1 other account banned while fishing sharks and gonne afk to the toilet... some1 talked to me, i didn't answered because i was at toilet... i logout afther 2 minutes.... when i tryied to login my account was banned for braking rule 7.

New question: Should i be mad about it ?

Next time i would suggest logging off to go to the bathroom or whatever then log back in. and about the forum thingy, just check back more often.

in my opinion the AFK rule is a load of ******** theres no way Jagex will know what a users doing unless they have cameras in this case ur bathroom plus just becasue someone doesnt answer another player doesnt mean you are AfK training for the most part you might have gone to answer the phone or something

Just an average player with a horrible name...

what i do is simply avoid training where theres a lot of immature people. believe it or not, some people are just looking for people to report. and jagex bans and asks questions later. i rather not bother with the idiots by avoiding them completely if you can. train in remote areas or off peak if possible. its stupid what you can be banned for. we have enough problems just keeping our accounts safe from hackers and viruses...

Their ability is simple. They can scan what aplications you got running on your computer, since we allow their java to share information with them. Or simple see if there is a sequece of clicking, like make 3 clicks always in same pixels of you screen. Or make same job many times always with same speed rate. All that plus someone reporting you will do in a detection. NOT A SECRET.

Jagex won't ban you just because you don't talk to people, people like zezima wouldn't last an hour that way

Thieving is another skill that simply unlocks things for you

If you were on the forums, you don't deserve a ban.

But if you go to the toilet, then you are "AFK" which is against the rules, and yes you deserve a ban.

Whether you are mad about it or not is irrelevant. You broke an RS rule. You deserve to be banned.

Jagexs macro system would not pick up if you are merely browsing forums or turning to watch tv whilst playing, those that get banend for macroing generally are macroers, when they appeal jagex will review the evidence and they can easily tell if their system has picked you up.

With macroing jagex doesn't take a "well maybe he was/wasn't" stance, if you are simply not talking then jagex will not ban you, they use complicated detection software to know if you are macroing.

The AFK rule there is basically to scare people, technically they cannot detect if you are at your keyboard or not, it is posible they can detect that you don't have the windows screen on top of your other windows but they wouldn't use that to ban you as you might simply be switching a song on winamp.

In conclusion, as long as you aren't macroing or using some method to circumvent their log-out system you should be completely fine.

The response is in. Since Message Center messages are confidential I can't disclose the whole thing, but perhaps this bit will help to confirm what many on this thread have already said.

If someone is reported then these systems help us to quickly tell whether or not they are guilty of Macroing.

We only punish people if we are certain that they have actually been Macroing.

Jagex banned you for no reason.

The way they are doing things, honest players are more scared of Jagex and their complicated detection system than macroers are, because honest players have invested lots of time in their account, while macroers simply left it on overnight. Macroers can simply start over without much trouble, but you can never get the time back that you spent training on an account that was banned for no reason. Jagex is trying to stop macroers, but we, the honest players are the ones who are being punished! :wall:

Appeal again. Just keep trying. Maybe they will see your innocence in your persistency. Otherwise you tried at least.
Not possible anymore. :(

i read this night and woke up today with the answer....( ermmm kind of )

jagex's map opens in a new window and you have to keep flipping between the map and the game if you need to find a place on the map

so what if im looking at their map and clicking their key to find say a shop... meanwhile sum guy is chatting to me and reports me for ignoring him, are you telling me jagex would ban me and not lift the ban?

so send them an e-mail and tell them you were looking at their map and were trying to locate your next destination and were NOT AFK and the ban should be lifted
