Personally I am sick of people trying to start pixeling, thinking it's going to be easy, and they are just spending very little time, making very poor signatures, and preeting much spamming up the boards. Every other post (1/2 posts) is "Rate my 1st,2nd,3rd,4th etc, pixel sig!". Getting bored with it, I think a new style of art should be introduced, Dunno what yet, am thinking about it.. But I think pixeling should be left to the experts (you know who you are :wink: ) To sum it up. Are people who are trying to become pixel drawers wasting their time? or is it a good idea? If no more people were to start up then we'd just be stuck with the current 'experts' churning out the same style and eventually, despite the obvious high quality of the work, it would get slightly boring. having said this though, some people post 'art' that is truly sub-standard, do not accept ANY criticism and then proceed to get worse. some others though are actually serious about wanting to improve and show off their talents, so, i say just leave them to it. Neither, tediously boring (hah), and it just shows the creative ability of most of the tip-it'ers.. or lack there of, not dissing anyone out there, but seriously, find your own style, dont go with the flow, be different, be new, maybe you'll be the person who sets the trends for the new generation of lacklustre artists. . Pixeling just seems the way to go now as RS is just pixels, so having some sort of cartoon pixel sigs seems right. I know there has been alot of uproar with this, as with the "normal" sigs like abstract and such, it didnt really take talent.. anyone could read a guide and make a sig, but it takes people who can draw to make a good pixel sig, and even if it annoys a few people i think artists such as mrX and the others should be recognised (like they arent already, lol!) and 'praised' for there work as it takes talent not just some PSP brush.. I haven't really been active on these boards lately, but I see that pixels have been the trend nowdays. I have nothing against trends, but please try something of your own. I have pretty much had the same style, with a few jumps here and there. I've always tried new things, but, I MUST recommend that the first thing you dont start with is pixels. ColAvanor Posted August 27, 2004 Share Posted August 27, 2004 This matter has been commented on so numerous pixel sig threads that it's getting old but anyway. :wink: People think one can get good at pixeling by just doing like 5 signatures. Artists like The_Jeppoz and misterxman have a long and high quality background of freehand drawing. They know how things should be drawn. It's way different than people emulating their pixel chars from other people's works or directly from RS. If you are already a talented drawer, sure try pixels. But those who can't, learning to make a decent abstract is easier. as with the "normal" sigs like abstract and such, it didnt really take talent.. anyone could read a guide and make a sig, I still disagree that pixel sigs are the only challenging way to go and that other sigs take no talent at all. My sigs take some talent at least and are st times rather time consuming (not talking about 10 hours like the_jeppoz and his pixels though :wink:) PS However good your pixel work is misterX, I still think pixel sigs are holding you back compared to your drawings, that is. I havn't liked that, since I don't make pixels, and couldn't win a contest. A few months ago it was bryce toriis, then it moved on to abstracts or somethin. I cbf'd trying to remember most of them because I'd rather forget about all the hideous stuff that was produced. I for one with macintosh don't have a crappy program like mspaint. Should I want to use it "freely" I'd have to dl some windows illeagally and use Virtual PC. Your thoughts please :D . My thoughts is this means your going to stop pixeling? Yay, lol. I think it's a good form of art for the boards, just not abstracts etc. made it photoshop.. The fact that people can make such good looking sigs on such a simple program is good to me, the other form of art I like in sigs is the hand-drawn ones, like the one misterxman drew for me of the dragon, you should see it if you refresh a couple times to change it, took him a while, but it looks awesome, too bad hes more pixel now ;).
