i have a few questions. Runescape says in the knowledge base repetedly that it is not safe to run the game from any other site but i think there are exceptions.

 

 

 

1)Miniclip.com: this is the big one. in fact, i actually started my first account through that site and didn't even know that runescape.com existed! Once i found it, i stopped using miniclip. In a poll on the official rs site from last year, it mentioned that miniclip is their affiliate. Is miniclip safe?

 

 

 

2) some people told me about Swift Switch, and runescapecommunity.com. Is this safe and does it break the rules? and what exactly is it?

 

 

 

3)are any other safe and legal sites that run runescape?

1) i would imagine they are safe, i think miniclip only links to RS anyway, it doesnt run it remotely

 

 

 

2) its a 3rd party program that lets you switch worlds easier. Not gonna say anymore due to forum rules. Use only at your risk.

trust no-one, play the game the good ol' original way. oh and same here i found runescape one rainy day in november 2004 on miniclip :D

I found RS on miniclip as well, i played from there for a while before finding the official site. Ive heard of ppl saying that miniclip isnt safe and that theyve gotten worms from it, i cannot confirm this but i would just stick to playing from runescape.com.

 

 

 

I have never used swiftswitch before, and i dont intend to use it in the future. I would think it would fall under using third party software, which is against the rules.

I think you're confusing links to rs and different clients for rs. Miniclip, addictinggames, and several other major gaming sites have a link to runescape, and is the same as going to runscape.com. ss, however, is an entirely different client, not sponsored by rs. You can draw your opinion as to whether its safe, or legal, though remember that it is banned on these forums. When the kb says that, it is refering to links on suspicious sites, illegal programs, private servers, and 3rd party clients.

jagex has said that it is not illegal i wish everyone would just shut up about ss and that it is a key logger, i wouldnt think that you guys would beleive such stupid rumors.

Just because it isn't/ doesn't have a keylogger on right now, the owner of the site could quite easily add one, or sell it to someone else who could put one on. Also someone could put one on ss without the owner knowing, there are lots of different ways it can be done.

 

 

 

This is under the rules for things that give you an advantage:

 

Programs that attempt to communicate directly with the RuneScape game worlds.

 

Programs that monitor, modify or decrypt the communications between the RuneScape client and the RuneScape worlds.

Yeah, I'm a patient in the hospital right now and this stupid filter won't let me on runescape or tip.it (but it lets me here :wall: ) anyone know if there's a site I could go on to play it? Besides miniclip it didn't work either....

SS doesn't monitor modify or decrypt Runescapes packets :roll:.. All it is is a broswer inside a GUI that helps playing Runescape easier. Im not going to say its safe or not, but i've scanned the communication of SS myself and believe its safe, don't take my word for it. I dont want to get in trouble for anything that happens to you because you downloaded something.

 

 

 

And guurahk, there are ways. You could try using runescapes IP for the domain. Other ways would be considered some sort of 'hacking'.

ss is good in my opinion,however if you use an old version that doesn't show ads on f2p it is illegal,but last I heard it's fine now.plus it has some other easy features.

 

 

 

I don't use it anymore since runescape made the fix so sounds work on firefox.

I used to host it on my website, then Jagex changed the game so that the applet terminates if top!='http://www.runescape.com' :( .

 

 

 

I even tried to create my own world, for just me and my mates :D . Didn't work! Although that would have been sweeet :P

I think the point is, the average player can't be certain that any 3rd party software is totally safe, and as a rule of thumb for people it's better to be safe then sorry.

 

I considered using SS once, but ultimately decided that i didn't want to take any risks with my account. Quite possibly it is safe, but as far as tip.it's concerned it's better not to encourage it imo.

So anyone know a way I could play it? It's the filter/firewall that's

 

the problem, not the game itself. I'm a patient and as you might know it gets very boring...

 

Someone said something about changing the domain to runescapes IP
