Who ARE you?

I don't dress uniquely, but I don't wear shirts with name brands on them all the time. Where I differ from everywhere else is my unique personality. Can't explain it, but I make sure everyone knows my personality is ME and not copied. That's about what I am.

And a few people have mentioned it already... But non-conformism is becoming so common anymore that you're being a conformist for being a non-conformist. So those who are already conformists become non-conformists maybe? Hah.

Realy it's just anyone that tries to fit in something, be it actualy fitting in or trying not to fit in.

IMO I realy don't 'fit in' with what would be the main crowd now -a- days. However, I don't sit there and think "damn, I need to be a non conformist".

Yeah, I don't buy abracombie / ect. Why? I hate the stuff. In my opinion it just looks well... gay =P and is overpriced at that. For me, it's just a pair of jeans (or jean shorts if it's hot outside or summer) and some sort of T-Shirt. Generaly it's a skate t-shirt (What can I say, I hate getting shirts with huge freakin designs on them usualy. Only one I have like that is my Iron Maiden shirt. I'd rather just go for a simple shirt with a good looking logo.)

While we are on the whole 'dressing' deal, I do wear skateshoes as well. I used to skateboard for about a year and a half (but quit), however I just can't go back to wearing normal shoes (IMO skate shoes are some of the most comfy shoes I can wear :D)

Anyways, since the whole point of this thread is "who am I", Well I r 'meh, a 17 year old gamer thats going to college. (o noes)...

As far as respect goes, realy I don't know if people do or not, and it doesn't realy matter. I've always felt like generaly when I get into a group of friends it can seem as if they do respect me in some sort of way (I'm the kind of person that isn't going to start up * because things aren't going the way I want. I'll make the best of it.) So I guess, because of that, they generaly do hold some sort of respect.

I realy don't know though, and honestly if your own friends don't respect you in some manner (I respect them) than what's the point? :)

EDIT: I noticed someone talked about lunch in schools. I always did have a spot all of my friends would sit at, but that's just because we all got their at different times, so it was easiest just to have a designated area.

I am me. I'm not a chav/ mosher/ emo ect, I have my own personality and my own style. I do things my way not because I think it's cool but because it is the most comfortable thing for me to do. Besides I suck at lying, I can't be who I am not.

Firstly what does that have to do with my post? Secondly I think it is unfair that you are assuming all emo's "suck". The emo's that I know are admittedly shy but very nice people if you can get them talking. Don't judge people before getting to know them.

I don't attempt to conform to anything. However, I act out the 'nerd' stereotype stupidly well. xD

I don't attempt to be or not be like anyone else; I just like what I like. I'm happy with that.

I love languages.

J'adore les langues.

I will admit that I try not to go mainstream sometimes. My reasoning for that is that mainstream is normally bad. I guess my laziness (I would call it being laid back but it's really just laziness) keeps me from following trends. According to my friends I "wear the same GD pair of pants every single day" (I have a bunch of shirts though and 2 not one pairs of sneakers),

On the other hand I notice that when I hang out with different people my interests slightly change and I sometimes even take on some of their mannerisms.

I'm starting to accept scene/emo kids for awhile now. The way I see it their feelings match up with the idols that they're following. Grunge to Nirvana and emo to My Chemical Romance. They like what they hear so I say it's acceptable to try and be like their heroes.

I decided awhile back that I give a pardon for all middle schoolers (ages 11-14?) for all trying to be just like one another. At that age you pretty much just try and survive. Proximity=friendship.

Actually not true. No two people in the world, even identical twins, have the same DNA and fingerprints.

However in terms of style....

That's another big thing. If they respect you, why? Do they respect your personality? Are you kind? Hardworking? Generous? Sociable? Or do they respect your clothes, your accent? Your make-up and hairstyle?

I don't know, and I don't wanna know. If I found out, I'd be more consciencous to it and would end up losing respect through exploiting it.

I agree. Sometimes u know it's stupid to try to "make" urself more likeable but u do it anyways. But on the other hand if u knew confidently what it was that made u likeable, wouldn't u remember that and never change that quality of urs? Afterall, people change once in a while because we r human and humans all get influenced by external sources, for example other people. If u had someone supporting u, u would be less prone to "bad" influence.

It's all very confusing actually, since nothing can be classfied as good or bad...

But I know that I don't like people who are so stubborn who refuse to get influenced since they have to be "unique", can't conform to anyone and can't copy anyone. It's natural that people get influenced, and everyone has to get their ideas and inspirations somewhere, 99% of the time from other people. People who refuse to be influenced are just arrogant and think they r the best.

In other words, don't TRY to be unique!

i have yet to see some-one judge anyone purely by clothes or accent or make-up/hairstyle these only serve for first impressions because there is nothing else to base first impressions of.

Yeah I agree too. I'm pretty tired of people saying things like "It's so stupid that people judge others by their looks and not personality". Yeah Duh, we know that. If there was someone who was a total ***** but looked nice, i doubt anyone would like the person. But I mean, it's nice to look nice, right? And maybe that would increase ur likeableness since we all like things that r pleasing to the eye, but that's only secondary to personality and how we are.

And Katha has some good points

What's wrong with Hendrix shirts?

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

lmao @ mainstream music

Jimmy Hendrix is dead.. so I don't think it matters...

Music isn't really a big deal to me, I listen to similar stuff as slushee, I just don't make a big deal out of it. Wearing band shirts everyday and such. I go to shows but, uh I dont know where i'm going with this. Bai

Apparently, the more unknown a band is, the cooler it is to listen to them.
