Necromagus
Sonata Arctica - White pearl, black oceans. That one is fairly 'epic'. It's only 7minutes long or so, but it tells a story. Sonata Arctica - The end of this chapter. That one tells one too, well, not as much as white pearl, black ocean. Still a good song though :XD: .Don't forget The Power of One... if you're going for length anyway... Vashinred
A Great song with very good story is Achillies last stand by Led Zepplien. Yeah i know I spelled the song name wrong and Led's name wrong. Also, a song with is just Epic with its guitar is Boston: More then a feeling. http://vashinred.googlepages.com/
Bloodmourn
I define an epic song by one that gives me chills when I hear it... and one that did just that, amazingly enough was Coheed and Cambria's "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3". All of their albums are telling a single huge story, it's quite interesting if you can get into them. :)

It doesn't realy tell us much as a 'story' though as the other two :D. btw, try some stuff from moonsorrow. Good band.

Uldric
Faith No More - Epic. Har har har... Maybe Metallica - One. It's pretty fantastic. Juno Reactor - Don Davis - Mona Lisa and Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death; both of the Matrix soundtrack are great aswell. If you're talking about a whole cd though, S&M by Metallica is pretty amazing. Bnaped
Echoes - Pink Floyd And to whomever said "The End - The Doors" I'd have to dissagree, its not as much of a story as it is a song about the end... Scruffy5389
Someone will probably flame me for this, but I think a number of Eminem's raps are powerful specifically because they tell a story. I wouldn't call them "epic" in the traditional sense because that implies heroes and grand sweeping ideals and stuff. But something like "Stan" is epic in its own way. I completely agree, certainly not epic but definitely moving and powerful. As for the S&M album that was mentioned by Uldric, that is certainly an epic. If you want epic songs with no vocals, Metallica has quite a few that are inspiring, such as Orion, Call of Ktulu, and To Live is To Die.
Purecheese
Metallica - One (S&M aswell) AFI - This time imperfect (best example from Sing the Sorrow though the entire album has an epic feel to it) The mars volta - basically everything Radiohead - Paranoid Android And as others have mentioned a lot of pink floyd is epic. Bnaped
And as others have mentioned a lot of pink floyd is epic. I agree with that x 10. But you have to listen to the entire album for it to be epic, in my opinion. When survival is in question, anything goes.
king_kenny69
Opeth - Black Rose Immortal Don't really know if it fits into the 'epic' category, but it is 20 mins long so I guess it qualifies #-o My Last.Fm
deat8mage
dude if you want epic 24 min songs like that, you should research progressive metal genres, bands like dream theater and symphony x. tool is great also. http://www.metal-archives.com/ this site is just great for that stuff. I have enormous respect for anybody who likes The Mars Volta and Radiohead. But AFI? I sort of used to be a coheed fan (I listened only to certain songs of the band) and Welcome Home always felt pretty epic. Like the other guy said Keeping Secrets was good too. I don't know about "epic" but lately I've been listening to The Faint which certainly gets my blood pumping.
