That would make adding sub-categories like this *much* easier since they won't add to the length of the front page, and still fall under the current gallery mods. Currently, and for many months, there's only 1 or 2 buddy posts in Gallery, tiny amount compared to other kinds like abstract or pixel, so no need for a new buddy board.
