July 21, 200620 yr Old news, but yeah, it's one of the (pretty obvious) facts of how our brain works. If you think of it, it's perfectly normal; if you quickly see a person's face that you know, even if just for a millisecond, you recognize that person. Some cells in the brain get activated and they trigger other cells that eventually form a track of activated cells that is the face you recognize. The same thing goes for words, and images that aren't complete. we will all be able to read the sentence below, even though the letters aren't complete: If you can read this sentence, you're a sane human being. Fun, isn't it? Perhaps this will be a little harder? Ooh, you can still read this? What about this? And This? So you don't have to completely see something to recognize it; just the basic characteristics are enough. And I quickly drew that in paint, so there's no difficult theory behind it; it's plain and simple: we're totally different from computers, our brain works in mysterious ways. We recognize patterns in certain givens that distinguish an object from another, we don't see the whole picture, that would require too much energy of our brain. And since all vibrations are theoretically sound, then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such.
July 21, 200620 yr is it 1997? Yeah, old news, like I said, but it's still a good thing to know for all future psychologists :) Bill Hicks[/url]":dhj2kan9]Since the one thing we can say about fundamental matter is, that it is vibrating. July 21, 200620 yr Yay, a new way to get around the swear filter...Maybe I can use it on people who post this topic for the 100th time.
July 21, 200620 yr We see words as symbols, so it makes sense that you don't need the words in exact order.
July 21, 200620 yr I dont think this is compleatly true, you see people seem to still get pissed at me if i spell something wrong. Either that, or most people are stupid. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!
July 21, 200620 yr Oh yeah, and how many words do you know that start with t, end with t and have a and h in the middle. Atleast I think 'that' is the only one :\.

Completely. >.< :P This topic is an oldie but goodie, in my eyes. It entertains me no matter how many times I see it. :D "In so far as I am Man I am the chief of creatures. I'm not saying I'm pissed off with you (I'm not), but there's a difference between bad spelling and jumbled middle letters. deviantart account

July 21, 200620 yr Somewhere I read this was proven false because it only works with words that you are familiar with. If the word was something long like, mlocobriigoy (Microbiology) most people would not know what it was. Retired from runescape(Banned for bug abusing)
July 21, 200620 yr ^That doesn't prove it false. Just limits it. Obviously, if you write a word that no one has seen before and screw up the letters, no one will know what it is. They can't sound it out. Yeah, Ive seen this before. I think I was the last one who posted this on these forums. :P

July 21, 200620 yr The only thing that gets old around here faster than stuff like this, is all the people bent on making sure everyone else knows they've seen it before. I mean really, a single "yeah, cool thing, we had a post about it a few months back" is quite sufficient. We don't really need to the "I've seen it before TOO!". -This message was deviously brought to you by:
