I started playing RS within days of RS2 being released, and as I was playing I kept hearing of "how RS2 was soo much better". Like, whoever kills the monster/does the most damage can only see the item for 1 minute until becoming publically visual. I think the update after that was Wilderness. It says toward the beginning of June that the Rune Shop update allowed runes to respawn quicker, and tweaks to the Runecrafting skill. The Flamtaer Hammer was introduced music looping came out and the potion emptying option was know available. none of that could have helped me anyway because i was a noob and was f2p (still am).
