instrument skill?

hey guys,

 

 

 

how about an instrument skill, where at lvl 1, u play sumthin simple, like a triangle, and u perforum in from of little tramps (not other players btw, jus NPC'S, lol), and when ur at a much higher lvl, u can play things like the harp, and perform in front of much more, richer people.

 

 

 

and you could also join bands aswell ::'

lol not bad. kinda seems pointless other then something to do. but however im thinking maybe each type of moster could have an instrument that when played near them makes them not attack you no matter your level (so like play a certain instrument and even a lel 82 lesser wont attack a level 3). This could be helpful in geting into dangerous places (like the abyss).

 

 

 

Another thing this could be useful is quests. Soothing the savage beasts. Stuff like that. maybe playing for the kings.

 

 

 

makeing of the instruments would also be added into the game. new monsers (instrument players)

maybe being actully able to play the instrument by clicking on the screen to play the correct notes? which would get you exp in maybe an instument skill or something.

I had an idea which involved instruments a while ago, but it faded out. Mine was more about playing various instruments to put a certain effect on the enemy, much like a weakening spell, or protect from melee prayer. It doesn't seem so great in hindsight considering that most of what I suggested was already covered in magic and prayer, but I was thinking along the lines of the bard abilities from so many other RPGs. I think that if this idea was developed, it could be something interesting.

it could kinda work out i also seen whats his names thing about the skill...

 

 

 

possible uses:

 

-calming down monsters or doing other effects

 

-for quests

 

-could probably play infront of people for gold (like npc wise) and there could be places where u can play like the thing in relleka

 

-play it to weak other people

 

-play it for fun

 

 

 

example of how it could be in a quest:

 

-you could play it to a monster that you normally couldnt kill so you can pass it.

 

-to open up a door or something

 

-use it to calm people down?

-combat (soothing beasts so u dont have to fight them)

 

-Wood cuting (geting wood parts?)

-Slayer (see combat)

 

-magic (enchanting instruments (to enable them to sooth monsters?))

 

 

 

There maybe others.

what about a quest where you get a enchanted instrument and if you play it to a farm patch it will take less time to grow they got magic secatuers why not a instrument?

Why would you try to attach skill levels to an art form which, fundamentally, relies on charisma, creativity and talent rather than rote practice, and has a product whose value is entirely subjective rather than having a well-defined material worth?

To be honest, one does not get by on charisma, creativity and talent alone when entering the musical world. It actually does take years of "rote practice".

It's hardly rote. Most of the time when I actually practice pieces, I try to see how I could make it sound as best I could to myself through expression, rather than just learning the "best" way to do it and memorising that to exclusion.

 

 

 

That's what is involved in the skills represented in Runescape. Not one of them actually relies on expression and creativity.

Man i would love to play the bagpipes. frezzing everyone from what they are doing just to cover their ears.

 

On topic- it is just to hard to convice to make it relasitic and not take up that much space.
