FrankyBrown
European launch not until March. There must be something going on socio-economically or something. It's not like Nintendo to be this shoddy in production, is it? Oh crap oh crap..I really hope we get them by xmas down here or my christmas is pretty much ruined  I've been so happy about getting a Wii for xmas with Zelda so yeah..DONT KILL CHRISTMAS NINTENDO
Viktorkrum77
I saw this in Time magazine. It seemed kind of weird. I would buy it, but I have to put all my money towards my Finnish exchange trip next year, hopefully I can pull it off, otherwise I'll be left with alot of money, then I'll buy it. Me doing staff. indy500fan
Does anyone know if the consoles/discs will be region free or not? It doesn't really affect me all that much, really not at all, but it would be nice if they were. I'll go check the websites out and edit it back in here if I find anything. All it does is disable certain features that we paid others to write.
indy500fan
Movies/Video Games have region features on them to make more money by screwing the consumer. I just said that, I don't know if its true or not. It is the common consensus by the digg community though :D . Like I said above it has never really affected me with video games. Recently with DVDs it has though, had to pay about 50% more to get season 2 of Battlestar Galactica. If I had a region free DVD player, I could have bought and watched the UK version (region 2) which is season 2 in one box set. Instead, I had to buy the US version (region 1) of season 2 which is split in two box sets.
Stuart_G
About the Europe launch being pushed back. "An anonymous friend of mine has just got off the phone from customer support at Argos; he was on for over 50 minutes getting moved from one department to the other. He was unofficially told that the reason behind the Argos Wii release date changing to March 2007 was that Game UK has the distribution rights to 400,000 units in the 4th quarter of 2006. He was also told that Argos don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t intend stocking the Wii until the Easter period after Nintendo̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s snub." So that may be the reason for the March 2007 rumours. Or i hope it is anyway. If Nintendo don't want to screw it up, they'll have Wii shipping world wide before Christmas. And on the subject of region free games. Will the Wii be region-free? Yes. Like the Nintendo DS, the Wii will be able to play games from other regions, such as Japan, without any restriction. Kaplan implied there might be a region lock that publishers would be able to flip on, but it doesn't sound like the first-party titles from Nintendo will be restricted. So it is region free, but only if the publishers feel like making it that way. Its pretty much a given that all 1st party games will be region free, but 3rd party publishers can decide whether to stick the region encoding on or not. Who thinks EA will use it so they can make more cash? I do
trapical
I personally love the fact that Sony is releasing with 400,000 units next to the Wii's 4 million. :-w Its obvious Sony isn't ready to release the system but it simply can't push the date back anymore. Stuart_G
Yeah, Europe will either get it before Japan does, after Australia or somewhere in between those two dates. But Wii in Europe will be before Christmas this year, i can pretty much guarantee it. How can i guarantee it? Because Nintendo would be bloody stupid not to have Wii out globally before Christmas. Woot ftw \ \ \ \ \ $400 but it does come with 5 Wii sports games so the only game I'll have to buy with it is LOZ:TP and then I can buy FF:CC and Dragon quest/Fire Emblem/SSBB when they come out :P (Hopefully should have the money by the time they're released  ).
