Blaze The Movie Fan
I've heard that people are worried that abyssal whips will go under 1M. My question is is that likely gonna happen? It takes 85 slayer(which is hard) to get to it. 4.4M was ridicilous price, I understand it's about 2.5M People are worried it will be less than 1M some day. My questio is is that likely gonna happen? I'm not worried, but what do you guys think? Is that gonna happen?
Ianw77
I just bought mine for 2 mil, but on topis I believe Jagex will probably release a new weapon maybe before the whip drops below 1 mil.
Fail_o_holic
I wouldn't worry unless you have 85 slayer (which neither of us do). The whips are at ~2M now and will likely drop more. I've sold mine and put the money into miscellania until I'm fighting with anything other than veracs again. (After I get my santa...) Of course, looking at your slayer goal, you'll want the whip anyway. You'll make money with it faster than the price drops, even just doing slayer assignments. If you're going to use it, do so, as it's a great weapon. - Pfft, my goals are FAR too "fluid" (ie. I have ADD) to be recorded in my sig.
the_tallest1
Whips will continue to drop. When I bought mine for 5.5M the thought of it going under 4 seemed hard to believe. It won't even need the help of a new super weapon to do it either. Just the sheer amount of whips that are being dropped and that already exist will be all thats needed to drive it steadily down. I think what many need to realize is that prices drop more on a percent basis than fixed decreases. While they steadily get cheaper and cheaper and appear to stay fixed its just that the percent they drop in price corresponds to the new lower price. I'd say the only real true bottom an item can attain is that of the high alchemy value. This isn't to say that whips will only stop at the high alch price but that they will only go down however slowly and however long it will take. 571st to 99 Fm Nov. 4 '06 - 315th to 99 Crafting Mar. 3 '07 - 3410th to 99 Fishing Sept. 18 '0726378th to 99 Cooking Oct. 16 '07 -.- 99 Thieving Dec. 29 '07 - 1343rd to 99 Farming June 5 '081807th to 99 Agility Nov. 8 '08 - 3094th to 99 Smithing Feb. 14 '092012 total - 91 combat

chris28
my goal is 85 slayer but im not really worried about the prices of whips that much as long as they remain a decent price like 1.5+ as im getting 85 slayer because its my favourite skill and getting a few whips would be nice. I think jagex are likely to release dragon boots in the near future.
jemathonical
As more people get to 85 slayer the more Whips that will be dropped. The more whips there are, the less expensive they will be ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
azielgoh
I think that their dropping cause they're about 1.9 or something at the moment. Hope they got lower than 1mill  NOT GIVING AWAY NEW ACCOUNT NAME.
monkfish101
yeah, i was concerend about this. i'd never had that much money before then i got a guth helm from barrows so i sold it and bought a whip for 2.1mil. now i see so many being sold for 1.9 and i'm wondering if i should just sell it and wait for the prices to go down 40 Barrows trips, 4 Barrows equipment (Guthans Helm, Veracs Helm, Ahrims Skirt, Dharoks Helm)
d3vilbro
I wouldn't solely focus on the whip prices, if that is why you want to get slayer. As we all know, most of the good monster drops come from slayer monsters. So I am sure that at some point in the near future, a new weapon/armour peice will be brought out through a slayer drop. If you have the required level, then that could make you rich... I_Xpk3r_I: Future Mayhem Maker
Blaze The Movie Fan
Many people getting high slayer level doesn't mean it's easy. For example, there are many smithers with 99 smithing. That doesn't mean it's easy. I really don't understand why rune two handed sword can be sold for 60K at max, that's cheap(Don't call this noob price, I said at max, it can be sold for less) I mean it's extremely rare drop from monsters and it requires high level smithing. Aneron
I bought a whip earlier this month for 2.2m :boohoo: I dont see any reason why they should drop dropping, everybody wants 85 slayer, and some people actually are devoted enough to get it, and that group is getting larger and larger. About r2h's, i think that back when they were worth a lot, it was also partly because weapon speed had not yet been introduced, making them a very very powerful weapon (kind of like whips today \ )
insane
The principle of supply and demand says that whips will continue to drop. The supply keeps raising, and the demand does as well, but not as quickly as the supply of whips is. Thus the price will continue to drop until either a. people stop fighting abyssal demons, or b. we get a massive (like massive) influx of new members. I don't see any of these happening. Blaze The Movie Fan
Well there is also a reason why I don't think Abyssal whip will be under 1M. The Archer Boots have dropped a lot, but some months ago(might be many) they raised from 600k to 1M. I think Abyssal Whip will raise. I can't see it happening any time soon that abyssal whip will be lower than 1.5M. Even if it would happen I think it will get back to 1.5M, like happend with ranger boots. dogfever
It is worth noting that the decline in whip prices is not terminal. They may keep dropping for a while, even under 1mil, however, at some point they will level out. This point will be when the number of people wanting whips and the number supplying them evens out. The fact that whips are still a rare drop and have a very high skill requirement to collect has slowed the price decline, it will also keep the equilibrium price of whips at a reasonable level but what that level is no-one can say, that will depend on how good people consider them to be compared to other weapons. Seanthorn
Well as i've heard, whips are not that rare of a drop. I remember 1 of my mates getting like 14 in 2 or 3 months. So maybe thats why they're dropping??
Blaze The Movie Fan
85 is very high. And I'll never believe that they'll be under million. People wouldn't be that dump. And I still wanna know why rune two handed sword is worth 60k at max? You need high smithing level and it's rarer drop than half key from monsters that drops them. That's like 40k. If costs were higher, smiths could makes mills a day just by making these swords. When they were 1 million and even a couple hundred k, smiths put a ton into the economy. If the prices ever went up again, thousands would be made until the price went back down to 50-60k. hopt this makes sense. Blaze The Movie Fan
Yeah it does, but I still have my doubt. I mean, I have yet to hear from someone getting from 1-85 slayer within 3 months. Is that even possible?
