Guthan's spear - worth millions???

Okay, we all know Barrows equipment is hard to get, has great stats, and generally shows high status.

 

 

 

Also, I know why Guthan helmet costs so much more than plate and legs - it doesn't protect in case of death.

 

 

 

But what about spear? Why is it so expensive?

Not a complete explanation. In order for the set effect to work, all set parts are required. About how good it is: whip is better. Spear has only controlled or defenseive. How good is that???

Guthan Spear is the rarest barrows piece, therefore it is most expensive. Also when you die with guthans you lose spear.

The prices overall are based on set effect. The individual prices are based on their rarity and the demand for them.

Yes whip may be better, but using whip with guthan armour doesn't heal you. Only using with spear would. See the point?

The only arguement sellers need is the rarity.. if the demand is high for guthans but there's a limited supply, why wouldn't people sell the spear for higher? Ya you need all parts equally but the drop rates aren't equal.

the full set effect is what you want, but the spear is really hard to find. so say you have the full set except the spear.. and you've been barrowing for months, and cant find it. some one finds one, and you need it. a lot of other people have the same problem. spear goes to the highest offerer.

If you were just gonna buy the weapon don't do that, because it's not worth it. If you have full guthans it's much better because the HP you hit of a monster restores back to your HP.

 

 

 

It's so expensive because it gives great bonuses and if you wear full guthans with it you get the hp you hit of a monster into your Hp

 

 

 

Say like you had 50 Left in combat.

 

And you took 20 Damage of your opponent you would then get 70HP if you hp is over 70+ over that is.

Contrary to popular belief you lose the spear when you die. Don't ask how I know that...

 

The helm is just a rare item from barrows. (It's also my only barrows drop.)

Aside from Dharoks and Guthans, weapons sell for nothing when compared to the armour. (People even have to resort to Hi-Alching the Ahrims staff).

Weapon = Around 60K

 

Helm = Around 80K

 

Legs = Around 110K

 

Body = Around 120K

Actually, thats a really good question....

There are possible explanations:

 

 

 

1) The spear is actually the rarest drop of all the pieces, so there are less spears floating around than sets of armor (maybe)

 

 

 

2) The spear is the one you lose if you die instead of the helm (i think the helm is lost)

 

 

 

3) The runescape population, like the real population, is crazy and will believe anything they're told, like "spears are just more expensive" (extremely likely)

because in protecting order, its crystal bow/shield > body > legs > fury > whip > helm > spear (added in 3 commonly worn with it items, the crystal bow/shield, fury and whip) thats why the helm and spear are the most expensive, people lose them alot more than the other pieces.
