Well, which do you prefer?

 

 

 

I love female vocalists! I think their voices are so pretty. I can't get enough of them. Regina Spektor is one of the most amazing people I have ever heard, and Eisley is a great band. I just love the sound of a girl singing so much more than a guy.

 

 

 

Of course I love male vocals too. As a matter of fact, I enjoy listening to anyone with a good voice, period. I'm only wondering if you all have any preferences. :P

I tend to prefer female vocalists. Although there are some genres where a male vocalists just tends to suit better.

I tend to prefer male voices. Female voices are obviously (usually) better at higher ranges. In most cases, though, I don't listen to music which requires that.

That depends what song they are singing and the music style. Both male and female vocalists can be good at the same time at the same type of music, one of them is better than the other.

 

 

 

My overall preference slightly tend over the female vocal...

I prefer male vocals, but in the rare instance I like a female vocal over a male, I realllllllllly prefer it.

I prefer male vocals as well, in some cases female vocals are better though. One of those cases are on some metal genres.

I much, much prefer male voices. I think they tend to have alot more power and intensity.

 

 

 

That said, I do love Tori Amos, ALOT.

I love Amy Lee of Evanescence... She sounds like... heaven. :shock:

I prefer female's since they're rarer and more of a specialty(but at the same time I don't want a lot of them since then the not so great females will ruin the purity of the select few who actually do make it into decent bands)

if it sounds good, i listen to it. in a previous lifetime, i wouldnt really listen to anything with a female singer, but now im into the likes of yeah yeah yeahs, new young pony club, royksopp, the knife, sneaky sound system and the like.

in rock, i prefer male voices. If its unique, I like female voices. In other types of music, I like female voices.

Anyways, I generaly like a mixture of both vocals. However, if I had to chose i'd have to say I lean over more-so to male vocals than female. Than again, it's hard sometimes to find a good female vocalist.

But I also adore the sound of singers like Maynard James Keenan who are absolutely thrilling when they raise their deep voice in songs like Lateralus.

Enya, because she makes me feel that there's something beautiful in this world, even though it may be hidden in her voice.

 

Maynard makes me feel dramatically sober and it alerts me of what's not so great. It's like taking the blue pill oor the red pill in the Matrix. Knowing the truth is Maynard, being blurred with our comfortable lives and forgetting the truth is Enya. I'd take the weak way out because I couldn't live without that bit of hope.

Of course, I'm going to say it depends on the song! :P

That's what I said :) I think the warm, deep voice of a man is something that perfectly fits rock music and jazz/blues music. But a woman's voice is often a lot better in classical-ish pieces as they have to bear some kind of divinity. And if there's something divine in this world, it's women ;)
