  1. i might not have caught this, because there is alot written up that way ^^^, but would the debate forum work like the archive of wisdom, where a particularly good rant gets moved to the debate forum, or would it be open to anyone to post? my support would lean towards the first idea. edit: what about more dedicated rants forum mods? perhaps pick some of the rants forum big guns that we know will stick around? *cough*neogeoswampjedinadrilstihletcetcetc*cough*
  2. if this was incorporated into the game, there would actually be quite a few people that would fulfill this role very well. however, the limited number (i would say less than 20 or so) would not be effective in "moderating the moderators" (as your suggestions imply). the 48 hour mute is also pretty useless. jagex often address those reports well before the normal 24 hours is up.
  3. english please? Wow, you're so cool. and that spam is even cooler. at least i had more to my post, and it actually addressed something valid in the thread. you trying reading his post and decipher something from it.
  4. english please? and yes, undercover is so much better. and im pretty sure jagex have said they would never create items for specific groups (eg player mods, special items for the top 3 players etc.)
  5. i dont think that this is the place to be discussing ideas like this...
  6. we dont need people to report silly amounts of people to try and become mods in order to earn a cape. this is the silliest suggestion ever. if you were a mod, or had actually talked to any mods, you would know that more attention from a cape is NOT what you want. we get enough questions about the crown. we dont need ever other person out there asking questions about the cape. mods are normal players. thus, we should be treated as such. we do not deserve these capes, and they are a stupid idea. edit: how so? the crown gets you more attention in the trading worlds. especially when it appears through public chat off. would those supporting the idea give a reason why?
  7. expand this even further: make the randoms you can fight (zombie, shades, evil chicken) give the proper amount of xp (4xp per damage done) instead of the 0.1xp per damage they give now.
  8. i dont honestly understand the point of the argument. i tried reading other peoples responses in this thread, however no light has been shed on the article. my initial understanding is that the article is a discussion of the irs' interesting in taxing actions within the game. um, wtf? this just confused me terribly. the other point i got out of it was taxing real life trades that originate from online games (eg. selling rs gold for rl currency). this idea does not apply to rs (theoretically) as selling in-game items is illegal. if jagex were to open a shop where someone could buy rs from jagex, then that would be another issue. and why bring the irs into this? jagex is a british-based company, and that just confused things even further. question: are things like ebay taxed? if so, then tax agencies would have a genuine interest in these things. if not, then they are probing into unchartered territory. with the growing nature of the internet, it is no surprise that there is growing interest in the money generated from interactions over it. other than that, i really didnt enjoy this article. it was well written, but the fact that there are very weak links to runescape ruined it a tad.
  9. macroers have colour and shape recognition abilities. so this most definitely wouldnt work.
  10. and here i was thinking it was dead. are we allowed to know any of the proposals you have come up with ard?
  11. this was almost at the bottom of the page. where has everyone gone? has this thread really died?
  12. sorry for my absence. i shall turn this back into a 3 man team. ive been at schoolies (those aussies will know what im on about). but im back now. never fear. and i know how neo likes free bumps from me. like stihl said, the decision will be made by the admins based on the man(or woman)power that they have to moderate another rants archive board. perhaps this is the best idea there has been so far. i seriously doubt that an archive board will be a graveyard for the big picture threads. im sure there are enough of us to keep it alive. the question is, will the rants forum have a fairly permanent and active moderator (like pokemama in the aow) to sticky great threads? that is really the only way it would work. vote 1 neo for rants forum mod. or stihl. or zub. rai. gid. screw that, a hoard of mods of the rants board! stickys such as the hunter one should only be temporary. like another week or 2 at the most. someone has already gotten 99, and i think the new skill phase is over. i havent really checked how productive the "bad person" sticky. so i guess some indication can be taken from that. i dont have much else to add. 5 hours sleep in 2 days does that to you.
  13. the third age was when dragon weapons were introduced. maybe an expansion of that? or higher reqs?
  14. whilst the revision of your last idea is nice, i still think this would cripple your economy. if every trade point only allows you to trade 10gp, then the maximum per trade is still only ~30k. this angle is no approach to hinder macroing, and will just kill the game.
  15. so with the index sticky, these would link to the original threads? kinda like leesters old archive of wisdom thread before the player made guide/aow forums were in existence? if so, we are on the same page. and there are far too many hunter rants considering the sticky. maybe a hunter sticky in neccesary in this special case. its not like theres going to be a skill update every week, is there?
  16. This has most definitely not been disproved. It has been disregarded as trivial information. I'd shower you with analogies, but suffice it to say that there is quite a distinction. lol point taken. i agree that the rants forum cant be reduced to a "diseased hulk." that would suck, to put it bluntly. however, the counter to this was that there are perfectly legitimate posters that will have new and fresh ideas that they wont be able to add to a locked sticky. so far, stickied threads have looked like the most sensible and beneficial idea that we can come up with. we have one stickied thread... do you think that it works?
  17. its a great way to earn money initially, to give you a base to earn even more.
  18. i do believe you can get hit by the moss giant that spawns on the side, but not by the two that spawn directly in front of you.
  19. i had actually suggested something almost exactly like this back a page or two ago, but this is a much simpler, easier to understand version. i think this idea would work well, and i had also said that in that same post. EDIT: the post im talking about is on the first page, in my last post, beggining at the paragraph that starts with "the third option..." wow. my bad. well i wont claim that one as my own. still i think thats a good idea that would work better than most others. this is following my "idiots will be idoits" theory that someone disproved. but yeah. sounds good.
  20. even if this was a rant and not a suggestion, it would be locked right away. i dont get what the intention of the rant/suggestion is. if your entire principle is around judging people on the way they look in game, i think that is fairly silly. on the "noob" argument, it is probably the smallest element, and isnt really worth posting.
  21. Sorry to break it to you. If you withdraw the last of the type of item you cannot bank it again nor anything else in it's spot. which is why he put multiple items of each in, so the markers are still there to enable him to use the space.
  22. how about splitting the current forum into a "rants" forum and a "debates" forum. all the older and mature people (not necessarily both :P) can move to the debates forum, and the rants forum can continue to be a hothouse for flames. one side note, posts in the rants forum do not count towards your total post count. kinda like the rate this forum. examples: rants forum: debates forum:
  23. wow. it sounds like you must be a great son. some people dont want to be members. some cant. i personally dont have the time for it anymore, and i find myself playing f2p less and less (which isnt neccesarily a bad thing). why do you come across sounding fairly arrogant in your opening post?
