For all I care they could take the ancient egyptians and make them fight the neighbouring nations and give them cellphones to communicate with. It's a movie. I appreciate history and documents a lot. But 300 is not meant to be either.

Yeah, the 300 spartans had a position advantage in an unpassable mountain region. They were against hundreds of thousands of persians. They did slaughter tens of thousands of them.

Who cares if the details on their swords are incorrect or if the accent of a person in the film isn't historically accurate?

You watch movies to spend time and have fun, not bicker about meaningless things like "look at his sword belt, it's from the late-roman era, not greek".

(This deserves a bump, as it came out today)

(I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, just comment on what BlueLancer said)

That would be awesome. Someone should make a movie in which all the major ancient civilizations are at war, and they use modern equipment. Caesar using a pistol. King Tut shooting missiles at Ur. Spartans launching a nuclear missile at Babylonia.

Yeah, until that idiot Ephialtes sold them out.

OMG he's 5/8th of an inch taller than Leonidas! OMG that design on his hoplon is wrong! OMG that well is 4 feet too wide.

But yeah...Some parts are a little too far in my opinion. Like the rhino. My history teacher tells us that if we watch it with our family members, we have to tell them all the inaccurate stuff... :P

My friend is watching it tonight, I'll wait for a rating before I decide whether or not I'm going to eventually see it.

I just saw it. Plotwise and character-wise it wasn't astounding, but if it's violence, gore, and sex you want, this movie is like 100% made of it. I did love the visuals, and it was really artistic and each shot was excellently done, especially with the fighting choreography.

I've been thinking it over and Frank Miller really isn't that great. I've yet to watch Sin City (just borrowed it tonight) but his novels never seem to have a good plot of any sort of character development. The things he does do well is pretty much just violence and giving sort of an "epic" feel.

I would definitely see it if it wasn't rated R. I guess I'll wait for the DVD. And from some critic or something....

Who's Quentin Tarantino? Other than that, it seems like I would love it.

I liked how the 300 and Sin City graphic novels look. I didn't like his run of Daredevil as much though.

Pulp Fiction

and both of the Kill Bills

I suppose my real question...What does he have to do with 300? I went on IMDB, found no connection to 300. Or is it supposed to mean that 300 is something like something Quentin Tarantino would direct? (I thought that was it...Just don't really get it. Don't bother explaining. I'm slow.)

Batman: Year One is probably my favorite just for this one scene where it's pretty much inexperienced Batman vs. a whole lot of cops with guns. Guess who wins?

I get to the theater one hour early, only to have the showing I want to see (IMAX) sold out. So I ended up having to see it on a regular screen. It was packed at the theater, only seen it busier once before (midnight showing of episode 3, which was insane).

Overall the movie was what I expected, and I enjoyed it. The great lines weren't as epic as I expected them to be, probably because I was waiting for them so much.

Oh and there is a good amount of nudity in it also, which made sitting next to a 9 year old kid very awkward. His dad kept on telling him to put his hands over his eyes during the "bad" parts, but seeing peoples heads get cutoff apparently is OK.

It was great! :)

The lighting and overall look of the movie was amazing, definatly my favorite part. I was not really expecting amazing acting so everyone's performances didn't bother me. The fighting scenes were amazing and the sweeping shots of the armies were spectacular! Overall amazing movie and I highly recommend it.
