Because the chainmail was the piece of armor more used along the helm.. For example, the Knight Templars didint used Platemail Armor, just ye olde chainmail under the bright adn white robes..

And nope, the two teams ar ebalanced as i can see because: Powerfull Christian Knights will slay the Saladin's Archers at the time they are being owned by the Glorious Kaaba's Priest who cna use magical attacks and those can be defeated by the Christian priestes who may be defeated by the Muslim footsoldiers... And it is a big circle, all the teams can win.. Believe me.

Just a sugestion, but if we can only use steel weapons/armor then the mages should only be able to use up to fire bolt, or else they will completely own.
