I have had it since beta 1. I don't like the new skin (assuming it uses the one from the betas - I replaced it with one to make it look like original FF), I don't like the tab-scrolling, I preferred it when they bunched up all small.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

Of course I have it! :P I have since alpha 3 ;)

Anesthesia: to get your tabs to bunch up closer together without showing the scroll UI set browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to something small (like 30 or so.) See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.tabs.tabMinWidth for more info.

If you're not familiar with configuring advanced preferences, type about:config in your location bar and then in the filter box type "tabs"

Then double click on browser.tabs.tabMinWidth and set the new value.

Now, back to Firefox 2... it rocks! :D And if you go to Help -> About Mozilla Firefox -> Credits, my name is in there!

My favourite new features in Fx 2 would have to be session restore and inline spell checking - Firefox crashing and losing all my tabs (which kind of work like a to-do list) was one of the biggest pains in the [wagon], and my spelling isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t great (although it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not bad either) so these make a big difference to me. I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not so enthusiastic about microsummaries, and while the visual refresh is cool, it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not uber fantastic. I don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t use search plugins (I use quicksearch bookmarks to save UI space) but I do appreciate all the other thousands of bugs that have been fixed for the release.

I can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t wait for Fx 3 too - Fx2 was branched off the same branch as 1.5 was on (1.8) so there have been things fixed on the trunk from over a year ago that will not be in Fx2, but that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s development for you :)

I found there was a setting in the tabbrowser preferences addon which sorted it.

I too like the session restore feature, it is particularly good when you've just downloaded an addon or update of some sort and have to restart FF.

I think the thousands upon thousands of testers pounding at it since beta 1 would have found those by now. :P

Now if we could just get most of the forums using that inline spell checking, we'd be off to a *really* good start. :XD: The admins have something to point at now when someone suggests a spellcheck mod too.

I'll be installing it when I get home tonight. I'll have to do a little tweaking to fix the tab scrolling and move the close button back to the right edge (I middle click to close tabs anyway) but overall it sounds like a solid release.

Has anyone got any screenshots of it? I don't really feel like installing it just for the sake of finding its looks.
Look at the "pics of your browser" thread or search google...

Just got it, I have to say, I love the spell checker, as well as the close-tab-on-every-button feature, so I don't have to think about which tab I'm closing when I hit the button :P. And, believe it or not, there's still bugs in it, When I first installed it erased all my bookmarks and would lock up whenever I tried to add anymore. Thanks to The FF IRC folks, I got it all working though :)

Try http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2006/10/firefox-2-review/ :)

nvw08: All software has bugs :( Fortunately, the hidden-bookmarks-on-upgrade-to-firefox-2 bug has a simple workaround :)

One thing I have noticed that I don't like are the new default bookmark toolbar buttons. The old bar used flat buttons with no edges while the new default skin uses rounded corners and ends the button extremely close to the end of the text.

Wish my skin would update for 2.0. :(

After conferring over IRC, we decided this was because of Cruiser's OS settings on different computers.

I'm still waiting for the invitable kinks in 2.0 - and for my extensions to get 2.0 ready...And not installing IE7 until some popup tells me i'm a pirate and will be prosecuted by windows until i download it...Or better yet, they withhold all security updates..:D What a strangehold they have lol...

Millions of other users have had no trouble with installing Firefox 2 over the top of 1.5.0.*, but if you've got anything reproducible, please do file a bug.

I love the spellchecker too :D It sucks that some locales don't come with a dictionary by default (licensing issues) but you can easily download them by right clicking in a form field -> langauges -> Add dictionaries :)

Anesthesia: by default, it only works in multiline form fields (ie. works on post body, but not on post subject.

Also, if you right click, select "languages" and there's no dictionaries in there, you have to install one. Click "add dictionaries" and it should offer you one for your locale. You then have to restart Firefox, then type something incorrect and it should work. If it doesn't then, drop into #darkwebz or ping me on moznet

As for using trunk - you gotta be brave! I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who's not a developer.
