shakaz
With the new balloon travel network if you open up all the routes after the quest you can plank logs in practically no time at all. You can hop on the balloon at Castlewars and for the cost of one willow log transport to Varrock which lets you off right next to the sawmill. Use a ring of dueling back to castlewars and repeat. Ddrmaster7
But the max weight is 40kg on the balloon. In some cases, you won't be able to take a full inventory of the logs you want to convert. It'd be nice if Jagex made the weight limit higher for this very purpose, but until then, I'm gonna have to stick with my butler. Ranked top 15 in the world for In The Groove. You can get a full load of both teak and mahogonies when wearing boots of lightness. I'm pretty sure you don't even need boots for mahogonies and I'm not sure about teak. With boots of lightness you get 21 oaks. It's still much faster than normal planking and if you don't want to pay for a butler it's well worth it. Codguy
with a demon butler, its still faster and doesn't cost that much more.. How many loads can you get transferred before you have to pay the demon butler? Well your butler can do 10 things that you order him to before you have to pay him 10k (or any amount of money that you need to for servants besides Demon Butler). Most people unnoted their logs (1 order) and plank there logs (another order) so for the Demon Butler you can get really fast xp and pay 10k per (5*24) or 120 planks. Or you could plank them this way, and use your butler so you have to pay him 10k for 240 planks (10 trips to unnote planks). But anyways, 10 loads of whatever. NukeMarine
Codguy, it's 8 trips not 10. Using the Demon Butler unnote and plank your logs adds ~105 gp to the cost of each plank. If you use the balloon to plank all your stuff first, then using the demon adds about ~53 gp to the cost of each plank. Now, to "efficiently" using the balloon, you're using your Duel Ring, which varies in cost from 2k to 5k each (not sure, as I always make my own and have 100+ in bank). Assuming 2k per ring and you cut oak near the sawmill, that adds ~10 gp per plank (~25gp if you consider a duel ring worth 5k each). So, you'll save ~43 gp (or ~18gp if 5k duel ring) per plank using the balloon. However, you lose time which for many players is worth ALOT in terms of gp. Is that 1 minute you spend in the balloon worth the 1k gp you'll save per trip? HOWEVER!!!! If you're planking in order to sell the items at a higher cost, then this method is DEFINATELY the route to go. Anyone have costs of logs versus planks in the construction forums?
