The iPod is a trend, a style, and it has the wickedest design, the simple wheel, the nice sized screen, the slim design, it's the technology of tommorow. Even if a compnay made a better product than the iPod, and made it cheaper, I'd still buy the iPod. It has a great rep, and an extremely stylish design. Me doing staff. deloriagod Posted December 27, 2006 Share Posted December 27, 2006 This topic is a little bit old and I feel stupid for bumping it but I bought a Zune. I've had it for ~6 hours and I'm really enjoying it. Installing the software was simple and painless, but like many other things it took a while to update. When you connect the Zune to your computer it will sync all of your music/movies/pictures for you if you choose to do so. I only chose music and figured I'd put the rest on manually. It took ~15 minutes but it put my 48 hour long playlist on the Zune and I was set. Adding some pictures was so simple I'm sure a moron could do it. My one complaint though is movies. I have some music videos but I can't figure out how to get them on the Zune. I tend to do things the mans way and not touch the instructions, so I'm sure if it really comes down to it I'll read up on how to add them. Other than that I'm quite happy with it. Oh and I purchased the two year replacement warrant on it seeing as how I'm pretty good at breaking things. :P Forgot to mention, a feature I'm really liking is the ability to set your background to any picture you put on your Zune. blade995 Posted December 27, 2006 Share Posted December 27, 2006 I too just got a Zune. I love the bigger screen, and the widescreen to watch videos on. The radio is a great bonus also. If you have been using itunes for a long time, the new interface will take some time to get use to. Maybe 3 days to fully understand it all. The only thing I don't like is adding videos to it. It's mainly converting them, my computer has a slow processor so it's realy on my end. deloriagod can you tell me how to change the backround on my Zune? Apple have already sold over 60 MILLION! Ipods around the world. Now if you think that some nerd in glasses can beat that? Then I'm sure it wont. I'm quite happy with my Ipod Video + Shuffle. The interface rocks, and the only thing I don't like about it is having to install the software in order to charge. Unfortunately, the Zune is just going to sit on the back shelves for the saavy customers along with the Sansdisk and other decent MP3 players, since most people who want a good player have an iPod. It of course doesn't help that the majority of idiots just immediately buy the iPod instead of shopping around. I mean, honestly. The iPod is a great machine but it has a freaking speaker dock with a toilet paper dispenser! Thats...ridiculous! The Zune is worth the money, though. I think you can use the Zune software to convert videos. I won't be able to tell until next week, however. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. I've played around with the Zune software a little bit and haven't found anything on it to convert videos. There are a few programs for $30-$45 to convert videos to the right format as well as rip (protected) DVDs to your computer in the correct format to put on you Zune. I was only expecting to be able to put a few videos on my Zune but when I rip them from the DVD they only turn out to be ~700mb (movies I converted were ~110 minutes) and are pretty good quality (I turned down the quality to save some extra space). I use Cucusoft Zune Video Converter Suite.
