Flying Car captured by Google Earth?!

Some of you may have heard of this before, but for those who haven't, this picture taken by Google Earth (satelite imaging system) should ' explain' everything...

flyingcar.jpg

The place is Perth, Australia.

At first impression, it really does look like a hovering car.

There have been many guesses of what it actually is, with these being the more common ones..

White car parked next to black car?

Hole in the ground

Trailer

Bus shelter

Water tower

Tent

Car on a pole

An actual flying car

However, some investigators have gone to the actual scene to discover this..

mystery.jpg

This shows that there is nothing there, no structural object, etc..

A very interesting discussion, wondering what you guys will think is the cause of this 'mystery.'

...I thought it's pretty obvious it's underground. I saw it when I watched the second Harry Potter movie with my cousin, now it has no use.

You also don't seem to have read about China's ultraspeed trains that go 270mph and they literally float in the air. Now that if something is awesome, but it will be normal everywhere in the world by the time our grandchildren live. (It IS real)

Sorry, could you rephrase that? I don't quite understand. It's clearly not underground as shown in the second diagram.

black car next to a white car anyone :uhh:

Edit: You don't even have try to enhance the image to notice traits of a top-down view of another sedan.

Also, given the position of the "shadow" to the vehicle, the rest of the image items would have to be casting shadows at an equal angle, which they don't.

How "convinient" to miss out the reverse angle of that photograph. The "flying car" is old old old news and has already been confirmed as simply being a bus shelter. Sorry to burst your bubble.

As you can see, there's nothing in the red circle. So it must be underground, though that wont explain the shadow. But flying cars are weird anyways.

The red circle is only meant to imply that there is no building or man-made structure in the area where the 'flying car' was located.

@Merciful, it seems to me like you've got it a little wrong. Read the text which comes with the picture, it clearly states that the shelter was indeed over 400 meters to the south of the spot, which is shown in the red circle in the second diagram.

400msouth.jpg

Above is some confirmation.

Also, the object has still not been confirmed, it has been speculated, but no-one has discovered beyond doubt what it is yet, but definately not the shelter in the diagram, reasons stated above. Never been identified, never may be.

Ron got his dad's car fixed?

What's he doing all the way in Aussieland

Speaking of which, your avatar location reminds me, in GTA2 there was *some* method to make your car fly. That was so awesome, I don't think it was exactly a cheat though, but cool.

I'd like to point out that accessing google earth does *not* mean a satellite is redirects it's orbit to provide an optimal view of whatever it is you're looking at. It's a *database* of already taken images. So if there was a black car next to a white car on the day it was taken, the photo will continue to look like that until when/if the photo is updated, whether there happends to be two cars standing there or not...

The shadows are at an equal angle. They're just not as visible because (assuming the car is flying) there's room under the car to see more.

I was just going to say, Mercifull was apparently confused about it, because no matter how you slice it, that bus stop is facing in the wrong diagonal direction and there is no way to part a car next to it...Note the poles and stuff. :P Also, there is no side-walk in the picture, and using a satellite image of my own house, I can prove that you'd be able to see sidewalks from that height. Quite clearly, actually. I wouldn't be too far out of line to say you might be able to see those poles, too, because in front of my house, the satellite got a picture of my dad mowing our lawn. He got a good laugh seeing that, lol.

Anyways, if you look at the other black cars in the lot, you can see that they look quite similar to that "shadow". If you asked me, I'd say it was another black car. Anyone who'd actually believe it's a flying car needs a uge reality check.

Arguments against the bus-shelter thingy is that -

Distance between white and black things are too far to be the height of shelter. (Possibly my imagination)

There are black lines on the white thing, which (probably) aren't on the bus shelter and look like car lines.

If it was a bus shelter, you would probably be able to see the poles.

There is some kind of white/grey rod protruding from the end of the 'car'

If you look in the picture showing there is 'nothing there' you can see the bus shelter in the background. The bus shelter is in the wrong place from where Google Earth spotted the object?

I think it's a black car... though it does look more like a shadow than a car. Cars have outlines, whereas the shadow is blurred. Even if it was a black car, why would they have been parked so close when they have all of that space to park in?

Didn't we have a thread like this a few months ago? :|

Nevermind, Matt burst my bubble, I rest my case, defeated.. But still, chinese trains can fly and I'm not giving up on that one.
the chinese trains cannot fly. they hover on repelling magnets and are pushed along by magnets. this article should clear it up :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maglev_train

I knew the magnet part, but thanks for crushing my final dream. I knew santa was fake since I was 5 but this is just too much. My parents lied again. By the time you finish reading this sentence I have cut my wrist.
