Forum project: The Christmas Song List

Surprise, surprise! It's that time of year... again. Anyway we've all heard the songs, from "Jingle Bells" to "Frosty the Snowman" but the real question is, what's the original/best version of these songs?

I'm trying to obtain an extensive mp3 collection of the Christmas songs. For example, over 75 people have recorded Jingle Bells but I want the version that is most familiar. I think we could all benefit from this project and we all just need to contribute a few details. Here's my knowledge for starters:

Jingle Bells - Dean Martin

Feliz Navidad - Jose Feliciano

Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms

Happy Holidays - Andy Williams

Holly Jolly Christmas - Burl Ives

Carol of the Bells - John Williams

Frosty The Snowman - Jimmy Durante

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - Gene Autry

Santa Clause Is Coming To Town - Bing Crosby

Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time - Paul McCartney

~Added songs~

Let it Snow - Dean Martin

White Christmas - Bing Crosby

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Nat King Cole

The Christmas Song (Chestnuts...) - Nat King Cole

All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey

Sleigh Ride - Ella Fitzgerald

Last Christmas (I Gave You My Heart) - Wham

So This Is Christmas - John Lennon

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues

Silent Night - Bros

Thank God Its Christmas - Queen

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard

Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade

Mistletoe and Wine - Cliff Richards

My Christmas List - Simple Plan

Can anyone add to this?

Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

:)

I so love this song ;]

I'd add: Cliff Richards - Mistletoe and Wine

? - Here comes Santa Clause (I've no idea who sings this, I mean, in the version that I really liked. I had it on a tape somewhere and I remember it's very lively and happy rhythm and I googled for it and saw that Elvis Presely and Bing Crosby are singing it, but they aren't usually famous for singing in a cheerful sort of way. :/). If anyone knows other versions of the song, please say them.

Merry Xmas (War is over) - John Lennon

"Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Nat King Cole (I think).

Lol, I forgot about that song, but it's sweet! Cole's version is cool because he really emphasizes the syllable breaks. Sounds like he's singing while riding a really bumpy train or something :)
