I found that, Farming, Construction and Hunting, you get to profit at all, especially Construction, you lose money! Farming you may gain a bit, but you lose more then you earn....why cant another skill come out that is actully usefull? What anoys me is Construction....it is useless..the only use for it at the moment is a quest which requires 15 Construction :S Why are Jagex giving us Skills that are not as Profitable then Fletching or Woodcutting or somthing..?
for the fun.... and farmign really helps uget herbs faster and ingridents

99 Fletching - December 30th, 2010

yea farming can be profitable, but it just happens to be the worst skill of life, hunter im not sure still 1, and construction definatly cost alot, but if u get 90 and people pay to use ur altar u may make money, but u need alot of people

Farming - Maybe Buying ranarr seeds, plant and hope to get 15?

Construction - No profit... Quite the opposite.

Hunting - I don't know, I'm not a member anymore.

Farming is quite profitable if you mutli task with it and know what your doing. I guess con and hunter is not profitable...just a fun skill while the other drains money. I guess they're running out of skills to make...what other skills do we really need? I know some say summoning...but the benifit of that is what?

I sold 5 sets of larupia for 46k and 1000 rainbow feathers. I'll use them to get from 64 fishing to maybe 66, and I am really happy with that.

Farming and Hunting are good money, and construction is ok, Tabs and services I guess....

"How did it start? I mean, did one kid just yell out lets have sex!""

I actually made money off construction by selling oak planks to higher level players, was kinda annoying though.

I dont think jagex will ever make another money making skill, theres enough gp in the game already.

Maybe if you weren't so lazy and didn't buy all supplies for all skills, then you'd make some money. I am 76 farming, and I assume you I have made no less then 20M profit.

2. Contruction - VERY good way to take the gp out of the game, the large amount of gp was causing problems. More of an achievement stat, who builds houses irl to gain money?

clearly almot more people then you think because i know of people personally who do it. and i know that other people do it. alot. at least thats how america is with suburbs and calldisac's(i dont know how to spell it.) in fact 3 miles down the road theirs 2 places where 1 guy who is wealthy just builds houses to sell and its 2 different people

OMG

Why are you all obcessed with cash??

You greedy idiots.

You guys make me sick.

bingo

farming will make u $ tho.

Farming is a great way to make money.

I don't get how hunting can earn you money, but than again I only have level 35 ;)

sigcopymg4.jpg

How come everyone reffers to construction as a money drain?

I for one am glad jagex released construction. Without it... I wouldn't get my 50% barrow repair discount. And there's the extra bank space with the new costume room (my bank is quite stuffed even though I've stuffed the costume room). The teletabs are rather usefull since you can gather more resources (hides / bones or whatever) per trip. The portals in your house are also worth it in the long term. And it's a perfect spot to have your lvl-up parties since you can control who enters the house (friends on)

Sure, getting the skill up costs cash.. But it's a skill that pays off in the long term :D

Farming is also rather nice for cash if you farm herbs, and it's perfect for a beer collector like me (for brewing) :P

Hunting also has it's advantages. Weight reduction (my god that owns at the agility arenas) and the gloves of silence. I can finally say that I have a beer and butterfly collection in game, lol :P

I'm rather sure that jagex will add some more interesting stuff to all 3 skills in the future :D

that is exactly what i thought about construction from day 1

Ralvn.png

farming - profitable if u do it, but i hate the skill (as do many), but its not completely useless (super poisons and herbs ;) )

cons - gilded altars and portal rooms are nice

hunting - pretty useless, lol, but u dnot spend any money at all on it.. and the weight lower capes are nice and the gloves help with theif alot ive heard, and imps might be useful, i got 71 hunting cause it so cheap, but havnt tried out the imps i caught yet; also salamanders are fun to use, and so are chinchompas, neither are particularly ownage though

jagex thinks rs is too profiable so they make skilla lik farming and construction because of that construction takes all that money away farming a little but you get a little profit but people took advantage of that with all the profitable skills so construction was made so expensive beacuse if it wasnt everyone would have the rare blue p hat and jagex doesn not want that because they think why work so little with a big profit it needs to be stopped and then construction was made but jagex thought "why not not get rid of this profit now" and they did

and that is why they dont make alot of very profitable skills anymore

runecraft

4th newst skill is very profitable

Ok, i can agree with everyone now that Farming is a good money making way, and construction is a money draining....what about hunter....fun i guess

Coming Soon

farming is HUGE profit/work ratio. Woodcutting you have to constantly do the boring woodcutting action over and over... farming is different all the time, and you can farm... leave... come back and reap rewards :)

Pssst...Want to make 400k an hour?

Runecraft nats whilst growing kuarms in every patch available. Every 70 min go and harvest them and re-plant, then go back to runecrafting.

I can make 350-400k an hour (herbs take 70 minuites to grow so it isn't an even per hour profit) this way.

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger." - Friedrich Nietzsche

well I agree that the new skill hunter isn't profitable.. but what can be added to make something proffitable? - to answer such a question you first have to understand why a skill like mining is so profitable:

it's mostly because they produce things which are used to lvl up fast in other skills! - many people want to buy things made with mining cause they need it for smithing!

also a skill might be proffitable cause the items produced are used a lot! - They are used by other ppl for other "skills" they like to do!

That being said we can conclude that a skill will become profitable if they are pretty "dull" to do, and produce things usefull for other skills.

so according to above "rule" you see farming might be very profitable: it creates things which are usefull for other skill(s) (herblore/cooking).l

construction won't be any profitable cause of: it doesn't create something you will really need very often (you can just use the ectofunctus instead, or using laws to tele).

hunter might be something profitable, as the imp-in-box are potentially usefull for things ppl really like to do, but I don't know if there will come a real market for these things as many people like to lvl hunting themselves too. - it's just too early to say wether or not hunter will become proffitable

so at least 1 out of the last 3 skills is profitable, and about the last 1 I'm not sure yet..

But it's difficult for JAGEX to really release a new profitable skill - as stated in my first rule, a skill will only become profitable as it creates things usefull in other skills.

using the skill smithing again, we can agree that actually "mining" is the skill which creates things for this skill - so mining is a profitable skill. - however if JAGEX wants to create a rly new profitable skill they have to make such a "pair" of skills - so actually creating 2 skills at the same time!

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Many players have made money off of the skill of construction, though without training the skill itself. Plankers make decent profits.

A mate made 1k cammy tele tabs and sold them for 2-10k each at edgy would 18 and on forums. That was a pretty good profit but it isn't reliable of stable and they can take a while to sell.

magecape,Mo%20Gui%20Gui.gif

mo%20gui%20gui.gif

construction - oak logs + 250 gp = sell plank for 500gp (250 profit per plank)

farming - buy ranarr seed for 20k = sell 5 - 8 ranarrs for 6k each (10k - 48k profit per patch)

hunting - sell 1k chinchompa's at 500gp each = 500k

so u can't tell me the skills aren't profitable, same goes with agility, people say "omg agility is so boring and its not profitable" well for their information i once gained 1k tickets in 2 days at brimhaven and bought a pirate hook and had 200 tickets to spare, i sold the p hook for 1.7M, so it's not that hard to make profit
