How some people make money (scamming) long sorry

Here a some examples:

There was a guy that sent out 1mil letter to people asking for $5 dollars in return for a prayer saying that they would get $500 dollars back. Now this is perfectly legal since it said they would prayer for them, anyways here the math if a letter cost about .20*1mil= $200,000 and if only like half of the million people sent him $5*500,000=2,500,000 then he would make over 2mil profit. This person chose certian poor indivuals to mail that note to. smart eh 8-) not nice though

A person asks to borrow some money and they said that they would return it back by doing work for them but in the end all they did was demages and that money is now gone. plus sometimes u don't get any money back when they promised they would return it to u

Back then the catholic church which was like the only religion in europe, was making a lot of money because there were the tax money they collected and the money from the pardons they sold. not all the church member were scammer but some were like chaucer's tales.

--Anyways what lead us to these scams r our gulliblity to these lies--

Some homeless people even prefer to be homeless just to make money without working, there r some rich homeless people out, so don't be so gullible. Back then during the depression period in the U.S. it used to be where u could leave ur doors open and now it a society where u gotta be careful. That why some people don't feed the bums because they are afraid that they might get sued by the bum. (has happened before) :P

Anyone else got gullible by someone's scheme???

:-k

i can barely underestand what you're saying, but you do realize, it would be near impossible for someone to send 1M letters by himself. and no one would send back money to a complete stranger. thats fraud, btw

and when people ask for money, its usually to close friends (friends that have connections with family) or family themselves, or the bank. no one would get away with such a simple scam

the money from the anglican church was not scammed, it was technically part of the tax, since it was an official religion, and there was no separation of state/church back then. Religion was the government. the money only went to constructing more churchs, and they did not try to hide it

Where on earth did you pull that from? What about advance fee scams? What about Ponzi schemes? What about pyramid schemes? What about matrix schemes?

i use phishing in a broad sense

and my fault, i completely forgot about business scams since i dont hear of them nearly as often as i do phishing. quite possibly, there are more types of scams, but business and phishing related scams are the only ones i hear of

I have another scam that people use through e-mail. My dad gets it a lot.

A scammer says that they live in (insert far away country, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Israel, etc.) and they said that they just found out that their husband/themselves are dead/dying (obviously not the case in themselves). They said that the dying person knew you through a speech/long ago friendship etc. and that they want you to recieve some of their fortune (they're very rich). You respond back (supposidly) with an answer, and they somehow or another convince you to take a trip to their country. Once there, they usually capture you and sent out a ransom note.

Be careful of scams people. One minute you think it's a win - win situation, next minute you're left penniless.

What about Ponzi schemes?

The internet has been filled with "investment" sites that will 'take your money and invest it into Forex and the stock markets' for years now. The rate of returns on some sites is as high as 10%+ daily, anybody with half a brain should avoid those sites like the plague, unless you like to play it as a sort of a 'game' and try to actually profit before they shut down.

That's what I read on some HYIP forums about why people do use these 'programs' that shut down almost daily (high yield investment programs). Real HYIPS organised by wealthy banks for selected individuals by the way will have minimum deposits in the millions, not $5.

There's always the people that say "I got hacked, Free stoof please" ...lol

But seriously, a lot of people are being scammed today. My family was recently scammed out of next to all of our life savings  And you see on the news (In Aussie) that builders and real estate and people in that field of work sometimes scam others. :( Scams can be easy to pull off as long as you target the right people, which unfortunately, are often nice, caring people :?

Did you hear about the Ponzi scheme which got orchestrated in Eve Online? A player netted 700 billion ISK (game currency), worth $81,000 in real money.

Wow... And he can't be arrested due to the complexity of the laws surrounding virtual property... Even if he's a scammer, just pure genius is what I can say that scheme is. Though, if I played that game, I wouldn't take it too seriously if I lost like $20 worth of game money to him. It says some people even threatened him with death..

Well the thing is, I don't think scamming is against the rules in that game. It is so heavily focused on trade that I think they see scamming as part of the game, and that it's your fault if you fall for it.

When I type like this it makes my opinion mean more than yours!

It would make your opinion mean even more if you typed in an obnoxious color like yellow! Also, you should have typed in size 29, instead of size 24!

Yes it is possible these are based on real facts for ur infos. U paid the postal office money $200000 and u can select a certain zip code to mail to duh. It is perfectly legal because he said in his letter that he said that he would pray for them for $5 and that they would get $500 dollars back from god. Some poor people do believe that if they sent in $5 for a prayer to god that they would recieve that $500 back.

A poor person fall for it because it is only $5 dollars and believes it.

Another thing people also gave thier property when they died to the churches back then because that would make them closer to god because they think good deed bring u closer to god. Anyways with the churches yeah they r like the government but there were some church officals who were living really good with that money duh go read some books if u don't believe me. They weren't using that money all for good cause, but on themselves. Almost everyone was part of the church system so people paid money to pardon their sin, why u think the church started separating cuz of martin luther's 95 thesis.

Btw The ones that scams you are ur close friends and relatives because they are family and friend you cannot refuse to lend money. It makes you feel bad especially since they have been there for you. Here a true short story from my old friend told today also.

His nephew ask to borrow some money right then he said he would work for him to pay him back. So my friend tell him to clean his gutters but instead he made it worse and got leaves stuck in the gutters. As you can see he gave money to his nephew for demages. Some people in school ask to borrow lunch money and promised that they would return it tomorrow but they do not paided them back. Some people do but not much. I mean have you been asked "You got a dollar??" trust me it been asked a lot in school when they have money too but prefer to ask for money. Another thing some people married just to scammed thier money and run off with it. This is another true story, a gurl married a guy and she went off with the wedding present which is worth around ten thousand dollars and then one day she come backto sleep with her husband and then she runs off with more money.

to anyone here, i would suggest that you stop posting and feeding the troll, and eventually this thread will die off or get locked

Yes, the only thing that is against the rules in EVE is using 3rd party cheats or programs. If you can do it in the game, it's legal.
